Chapter 109: Ancient Sword, Unleash!

With this thought, the dark-skinned serpent immediately awakened Jiang Xiaotian, then cast an illusion over the small patch of land where the ancient sword lay, attempting to atone for his earlier mistake.
Meanwhile, the battle on the other side had reached a fever pitch. Although Ouyang Zijing and the others fought with all their might, without the underlying foundation stepping in, the ultimate authority over victory rested with their generation’s successors.
Zhao Zheng, after all, was at the mid-stage of internal energy cultivation, bolstered by various martial arts enhancements. Even though Ouyang Zijing, relying on her own strength and home-field advantage, barely managed to hold her ground against him, she was ultimately outmatched. She had no way of anticipating which martial art Zhao Zheng would deploy next.
Many watching were aghast as Ouyang Zijing steadily retreated. She was their last hope; if she fell, Zhao Zheng would surely seize the ancient sword today. As he had said, the fate of those who resisted was too dreadful to even imagine.
Zhao Zheng, however, remained unhurried. Since that gentleman had intervened, even a deity wouldn’t be able to save Jiang Xiaotian now. He was probably dead without a trace. Zhao Zheng wanted to savor the overwhelming power brought by the convergence of so many martial arts within himself.
Every move he made was paid for with the lives of other fighters. Ouyang Zijing’s complexion grew paler and paler. She could hardly believe it—was this really the Zhao family?
She had only thought the Zhao family was bad, but she hadn’t realized they were corrupt to the bone, so callous as to treat lives with utter disregard!
Fortunately, though her side was steadily losing ground, they had one more internal energy expert than the Zhao family. Li Qing, meanwhile, seemed somewhat lackadaisical and had not exerted full strength. This additional internal energy master quickly came to support Ouyang Zijing.
With reinforcements, she was no longer on the defensive, no longer forced to evade Zhao Zheng constantly. She even found several chances to strike back.
As the tide of battle shifted, the morale of the Ouyang family soared. Each fought as if their lives depended on it. Every casualty only fueled their fury. On the Zhao side, only Zhao Zheng and a few internal energy warriors remained strong; nearly all others below that level had been routed. Only members of the Li family still resisted.
Seeing the unfavorable situation, Zhao Zheng showed no sign of fear. His face wore that disgusting, nauseating smile. “Impressive. If I hadn’t prepared a contingency plan today, I might really have lost here. Do you think that’s fair? The Ouyang family knows every inch of this city park like the back of their hand!”
Ouyang Zijing didn’t even want to respond. Zhao Zheng made her want to retch. She vowed she would kill him, even if it meant dying herself.
Her coordination with her warriors was flawless—one defending, another attacking—much like the battle style of the Ouyang family’s three heroes. Zhao Zheng’s fighting skill and experience were lacking, and he was gradually being suppressed.
Suddenly, he retreated sharply, putting distance between himself and the two Ouyang warriors. Then he clapped his hands. “I don’t want to play anymore. Shadow, it’s your turn. Kill that bitch from the Ouyang family for me!”
No sooner had he spoken than a sinister, icy aura swept through the city park.
Ouyang Zijing shuddered involuntarily, her pupils trembling.
Behind Zhao Zheng, a pitch-black figure appeared, masked like a phantom.
It was the masked man from that night—the god-level existence whom even her aunt and the other two were helpless against!
She gritted her teeth, staring at Zhao Zheng in disbelief. “You’re insane! That’s divine energy! You actually brought your family’s secret foundation here! Aren’t you afraid the authorities will come after you?”
Zhao Zheng laughed heartily. Afraid? He wasn’t afraid of anything. Having seized the divine sword and with that gentleman’s presence, what was there to fear?
A sudden silence fell over the battlefield. Everyone froze, turning their gaze toward this new arrival.

They not only sensed an overwhelming presence they could not resist but also heard Ouyang Zijing’s startled cry.
A divine energy master!
What was that? To them, it was an untouchable being! Even in Dragon City, there were few who could claim such strength!
This was the foundation of the three great families—the very basis of their standing in Dragon City! For the Zhao family to break the rules and bring a divine energy master here was unthinkable!
Seeing the panic and terror on their faces, Zhao Zheng was thrilled. He shouted, “Where are those who stubbornly resisted me just now? I remember every one of you. Now I’m giving you a final chance! Kill the Ouyang family members for me, and I’ll spare your lives!”
It was a ruthless tactic to kill both body and spirit. The smaller clans and scattered warriors hesitated instantly.
But the fear instilled by the Zhao family was overwhelming. Especially now, anyone who dared resist would be the first to die.
Some weaker fighters didn’t even dare glance at the shadow’s list.
The atmosphere grew tense and subtle.
Those who had originally supported the Zhao family surged with renewed momentum, swiftly launching a counterattack!
Only the Ouyang family and those who swore loyalty to them fought back; the rest either surrendered outright or defected.
Ouyang Zijing stood frozen, utterly exhausted and bereft of fighting spirit.
She had never imagined the Zhao family could sink to such depths of depravity.
But she was defeated. With the arrival of the divine energy master, Zhao family’s victory was assured. In truth, they had no hope of turning the tide.
This shadow was only rumored about within the Ouyang family; no one had ever seen him before. So when she first encountered him, she did not realize he was the Zhao family’s trump card.
His greatest skill was concealing his aura and trace. He had slipped in unnoticed. Now, even if she called for help, it would be too late.
Ouyang Zijing could only accept her fate.
One of her companions stepped forward, placing themselves before her. “Miss, run! We will hold them off with everything we’ve got. If you can escape, please have the ancestor come out and report this to the authorities.”
Her words were resolute because she knew that even all the internal energy masters of the Ouyang family combined would not be a match for their opponent.
“Try to run? Sorry, kill Ouyang Zijing first! Then kill Ouyang Ziqian! Get rid of these two pests for me!” Zhao Zheng barked orders, giving no chance for mercy.
Li Qing furrowed his brows, his mind racing. If Zhao Zheng really intended to kill Ouyang Zijing...

Before he could finish, the shadow vanished silently, his figure impossible to track. Ouyang Zijing’s heart trembled. When she turned, the shadow was already behind her.
“Miss!” The Ouyang family members charged like madmen toward the masked man, but with a single wave of his hand, he struck them down, leaving them writhing in pain on the ground.
For the first time, Ouyang Zijing felt the terror of death. Her whole body trembled. Facing this divine energy master, she could not even flee.
“Aren’t you so fierce? Why aren’t you shouting anymore? So fierce with your mouth? Today, I’m going to kill you, strip you naked, and toss you out on the street! Let everyone see what happens when you offend the Zhao family!”
For a moment, the battle paused again. Whether Zhao family, scattered warriors, or Ouyang family, all eyes were fixed on the scene.
The shadow stood before Ouyang Zijing, death emanating from his back. He knew she dared not escape—and would not—because it would be meaningless.
She closed her eyes, awaiting death.
But then, the sound of breaking glass rang out, followed by an earth-shattering, terrifying surge of energy!
“Huh?” Even the shadow was puzzled, turning to the source of the sound at the center of the lake.
There was no one there, but the space shimmered like a mirror fracturing. The crack widened rapidly until the entire surface shattered!
“This...” Everyone gasped, unable to believe their eyes!
At the moment the space broke, Jiang Xiaotian drew forth the ancient sword!
He raised the blade high toward the sky, the sword trembling continuously. Dust and rust fell to the ground, revealing a silver-white blade—sharp, beautiful, ancient yet stirring the heart with its aura!
Blood trickled from Jiang Xiaotian’s lips. He gritted his teeth, locking eyes fiercely on Zhao Zheng.
The ancient sword trembled violently, even his two hands couldn’t hold it steady. At the moment of drawing it, all the spiritual energy in the city park was absorbed by the sword and then channeled into Jiang Xiaotian!
“He seems... to have stepped into internal energy cultivation...” someone murmured shakily.
But Jiang Xiaotian paid no heed. His gaze fixed firmly on Zhao Zheng. “Today, you will die!”
