Chapter 136 Self-Destruction
Ouyang Ziqian also realized the gravity of the situation. Therefore, she only urged Jiang Xiaotian to be careful and stopped pestering him.
However, she knew his personality somewhat. If Jiang Xiaotian were truly no match for his opponent, he would likely run faster than a rabbit. The fact that he was staying meant there was still a chance, and summoning the senior ancestor was simply because he could not guarantee victory.
After a few brief words, Jiang Xiaotian headed straight for the parking lot.
He could sense several gazes locked onto him from the shadows.
These Japanese people were either overbearing or sinister to the extreme, particularly skilled at concealing their tracks, making them especially hard to detect in such a crowded place.
The others had no intention of leaving yet, continuing to drink and converse freely, eager to make as many connections as possible. Only a small number of people noticed Jiang Xiaotian's departure, and a group of Japanese men quickly followed him.
Ito Hiroshi was determined to take back the Liuhua Style today at all costs! He had wagered everything he had, acting behind the main family's back to seize the Liuhua Style on his own. If he succeeded, it would be a monumental achievement; if he failed, the grave crime of losing an ancient martial art would fall entirely on his shoulders alone!
Therefore, seeing Jiang Xiaotian leave with his suitcase, Ito Hiroshi immediately led his men in pursuit!
They were not in a rush to make a move because there were simply too many people around. If they caused a huge commotion, the authorities would not sit idly by. Actually, Jiang Xiaotian could have stayed hidden in the venue and never come out, but he could not guarantee whether that Divine Realm expert was an assassination master.
These people were like venomous snakes. Unless the two sides fought to the death, they would likely remain hidden in the dark, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Jiang Xiaotian could not stand that kind of suspense, so he chose a direct confrontation to avoid further complications.
As soon as he got into his car, he slammed his foot on the accelerator without any hesitation. He soon discovered that no matter how fast he drove, two black cars always followed closely behind, neither too far nor too near, sticking to him like taffy and impossible to shake off.
It seemed Ito Hiroshi was truly driven out of his mind. The mere thought of his exasperated expression brought a smile to Jiang Xiaotian's face.
In truth, they were not the only Japanese faction present today; there were others as well. However, the others lacked the Ito family's financial resources and dared not stir up trouble on someone else's turf. Only this Ito Hiroshi was acting like a rabid dog.
At the same time, Jiang Xiaotian vaguely felt that he had been targeted. Although the sensation was faint, it was undoubtedly real.
Had it not been for the heightened sensory perception of the Dragon race, he probably would never have noticed it. To be able to reach this level of stealth, it had to be that Divine Realm expert.
At that tier, they no longer needed any form of transportation. Given these Japanese individuals' mastery over concealing their presence, they could likely stroll down the middle of the street in broad daylight without anyone ever noticing.
Since there were many people here and the Japanese did not dare to act recklessly, Jiang Xiaotian was in no hurry. Since he needed to buy some time anyway, he began executing serpentine maneuvers alongside sudden, sharp brakes, forcing the Japanese to repeatedly stop and start, causing Ito Hiroshi to curse profanely in rage!
Yet, the moment they crossed out of Jiangzhou, the Japanese could no longer contain themselves. Jiang Xiaotian never expected Ito Hiroshi to be so insane as to accelerate right here on the highway in an attempt to force him to a stop!
Jiang Xiaotian had initially planned to leverage the performance of his sports car to completely shake off this group, but in the end, he still had to slam on the brakes.
A small figure was blocking the center of the road not far ahead, gripping a massive tachi.
Jiang Xiaotian sighed. She had come after all, and she had appeared openly.
Furukawa Wei's face was completely calm. She knew she was bound to die today. Unless she won, she would have to detonate her internal energy. However, yesterday's clash had already made her realize that she could not defeat Jiang Xiaotian.
Furthermore, under the bright, clear sky, how could she use concealment? Thus, she had directly chosen a direct confrontation, abandoning even her final tactical advantage.
She did not escape or commit suicide because a tiny shred of hope still lingered in her heart.
Escape? There was no escaping. Once a Shadow Guard betrayed her oath, she would face endless, relentless hunting unless the Ito family was completely annihilated. Moreover, her elderly mother was still back in her hometown...
Furukawa Wei cast away all stray thoughts and, the moment Jiang Xiaotian brought his car to a halt, raised her blade and charged directly at him!
"Damn it! Hit me all you want, but leave my car alone!" Jiang Xiaotian hurriedly pulled over to the side of the road and dragged the battlefield away from the highway. Otherwise, if they fought and a large semi-truck barreled through, both of them would be finished.
Furukawa Wei paid no heed to such concerns. Fueled by a heavy intent to kill, she locked onto Jiang Xiaotian instantly, unleashing lethal techniques right from the start, each strike more vicious than the last!
Even Jiang Xiaotian could not help but feel astonished. This woman had a backup blade? Furthermore, the edge of this sword was sharper, and its weight was on a completely different level.
The exact same techniques, augmented by this new blade, appeared exceptionally fierce!
Blocking it barehanded was already beginning to strain Jiang Xiaotian, and the tree branches he casually snatched up were instantly shredded to pieces even when reinforced with spiritual energy.
For Furukawa Wei, this was her final battle—a battle that decided life and death. Therefore, she was more frenzied than ever before, acting as though she had utterly forsaken the consequences.
Jiang Xiaotian was startled by this lunatic of a woman. She was clearly an assassin trained in mainstream ninjutsu, yet at this moment, she fought like an enraged fierce beast, attacking without a single pause or hesitation.
The situation was far from optimistic either, as reinforcements from the Ito family had arrived. An early-stage Internal Strength martial artist, accompanied by several late-stage External Strength fighters, continuously harassed Jiang Xiaotian from all directions, annoying him to no end!
Watching Furukawa Wei push herself with increasing desperation, Jiang Xiaotian, unaware of the full story, finally let his anger flare.
With a loud shout, his Dragon's Wrath surged forth, engulfing everything around them like an overwhelming tide. Flames ignited, stunning everyone present. It was not as though they had never witnessed martial arts that resembled parlor magic, but such a feat could never be executed by a mere Internal Strength martial artist unless...
"Ancient martial arts! Jiang Xiaotian knows ancient martial arts! No wonder he wanted to seize the Liuhua Style!" the elderly man beside Ito Hiroshi exclaimed, his brow furrowing deeply.
To the Japanese, ancient martial arts were objects of both profound reverence and terror. This long-lost, archaic martial discipline allowed an Internal Strength martial artist to execute techniques comparable to those of a Divine Realm powerhouse—it was exquisite to the extreme!
While they cried out in shock, a figure in the distance opened his eyes and let out a surprised murmur.
Jiang Xiaotian's true strength could fool others, but it could not escape the notice of Yoshigami, who was in the Divine Realm. With a single glance, he saw through Jiang Xiaotian's limits and realized the youth was no match for him, so he had simply closed his eyes to rest and bide his time for the right moment to strike.
Yet, when this wave of flames appeared, the chilling sensation it radiated deeply shocked Yoshigami!
What kind of martial art was this, exactly, that it could actually make him feel a trace of dread?
"Interesting." The corners of Yoshigami's lips curved upward as he finally grew somewhat intrigued.
With a gentle push of his fingers, a sliver of silvery-white blade was exposed from the scabbard at his waist. A sudden gust of wind swept through the surroundings, and the tree trunk directly in front of him snapped into two halves instantly, opening up his field of vision in the process.
Jiang Xiaotian glanced casually in that direction, seemingly sensing the strange aura. However, he quickly withdrew his gaze. His top priority was to deal with the group before him, especially Furukawa Wei. He no longer intended to show mercy; this woman was acting like a rabid dog, and he was determined to cripple her today!
Within this domain of fire, countless fireballs capable of devouring martial energy autonomously attacked anyone hostile to Jiang Xiaotian. He no longer needed to pay attention to those flea-like Japanese martial artists, focusing his entire attention on subduing Furukawa Wei instead.
He cast away all hesitation. You tried to take my life twice—did you really think I would still hold back?
Every time Furukawa Wei closed the distance, her entire body was consumed by raging flames. Soon, her clothing was in tatters, and her skin bore numerous burns.
Yet, as if devoid of pain, she would charge right back whenever she was repelled, rising back to her feet every time she was sent flying. With clenched teeth, even the cloth veiling her eyes was shredded to pieces by the end, leaving hardly an inch of her body unscathed.
"Enough!" Jiang Xiaotian willed it, and flames surged across his entire body. Throwing a punch imbued with violent spiritual energy, he knew Furukawa Wei would have to dodge if she wanted to survive.
Yet, she still swung her blade with reckless disregard for her life, as if completely oblivious to the terrifying might of Jiang Xiaotian's strike. Her teeth were clenched tight, her face pale as death.
*Crack!* A crisp sound rang out as Furukawa Wei's tachi snapped once more, only this time, compared to before, it was utterly pulverized and completely ruined beyond repair!
With one hand, Jiang Xiaotian seized her by the throat, while his other hand prepared to end her life at a moment's notice.
Furukawa Wei's heart turned to ash. She had lost after all.
At that very moment, applause suddenly rang out from behind. Jiang Xiaotian turned his head to see Ito Hiroshi looking at him with a mocking expression not far away.
"Impressive. But this is the end of the line. Care to guess whether an Internal Strength martial artist's self-detonation can be survived?"
Although Ito Hiroshi spoke thusly, he knew very well that such a blast probably wouldn't kill Jiang Xiaotian—at most, it would only leave him heavily wounded. To truly take his life, Yoshigami would still have to intervene.
Even so, this was already enough.
He simply wanted to witness Jiang Xiaotian in a state of utter wretchedness, and he had long wanted to replace this Shadow Guard with someone more useful anyway.
"Furukawa, do it!"
