The girl heard the commotion and merely curled her legs up, then waved a hand in a half-awake, half-dreaming state. “Just leave the food on the table, thanks…” She turned over, her back facing Jiang Xiaotian. Since she wore no pants, the sight was exposed in its entirety to him. But he had no time to appreciate it; he turned away and spoke, “Um, you must be Qin Lulu, right? Could you please put some clothes on first?”

The moment he spoke, a cacophony of noise erupted behind him, accompanied by the girl’s shrill scream. When Jiang Xiaotian turned back, she was already sitting up, covering her legs with the blanket, glaring at him in anger and fear. “You! Stalking pervert! I’m ruined. I’m unclean now.”

Jiang Xiaotian hurried to explain, “No, no! I didn’t see anything! I was sent by Zhang Guodong—I need your help to save someone!”

Truth be told, seeing her face startled him somewhat. The girl was very young, perhaps even younger than himself. Was she truly a miracle doctor?

“Huh? Sounds troublesome. Who are you? Why did that old Zhang give you the keys to my place?” Qin Lulu’s expression was sour; she knew herself to be lazy, yet Zhang Guodong still brought her such trouble.

Jiang Xiaotian quickly introduced himself and explained the situation, but Qin Lulu remained unwilling to help.

“Oh, you’re really annoying. I said I wouldn’t help. Go, go, go! Don’t disturb my sleep!” Qin Lulu was utterly unashamed; she pulled the blanket over herself, lay down, and prepared to sleep.

Jiang Xiaotian was stunned. What was wrong with this woman? Wasn’t she a military doctor? Isn’t saving lives your sworn duty?

But since he was the one seeking help, his attitude was exceedingly sincere, nearly pleading. Yet Qin Lulu ignored him, covering her ears as if she hadn’t heard a thing.

After repeated attempts, Jiang Xiaotian grew annoyed. What a terrible temper—do you really think I can’t handle you?

He simply reached out and hoisted the blanket-wrapped Qin Lulu onto his shoulder.

She was utterly dumbfounded. “You! What are you doing now? Are you really going to assault me? I haven’t bathed in over half a month! Put me down!”

Jiang Xiaotian couldn’t be bothered with such a neurotic woman and simply carried her away.

Now that he had ascended to the first stage, he did everything with utmost confidence. Qin Lulu seemed to have some strength but not even enough to be considered an external martial artist. No matter how she struggled, it was nothing more than a child’s play before Jiang Xiaotian.

He didn’t waste words, tossed Qin Lulu into the car, and headed straight for the hospital.

This woman was peculiar indeed. She stayed wrapped in the blanket all the way, cursing Jiang Xiaotian with colorful language, like a frightened kitten.

Jiang Xiaotian ignored her, fetched a pair of pants and slippers from the back for her to wear.

“Hurry and change. If you keep nagging, I’ll strip you and dump you on the street.”

At first, Qin Lulu stubbornly refused, still swearing, but when Jiang Xiaotian stopped the car, truly ready to toss her out, she reluctantly put them on.

Jiang Xiaotian had no idea what the girl was muttering, but today, she would save someone, whether she wanted to or not!

Upon arriving at the hospital, he kept a firm grip on Qin Lulu, afraid she’d escape.

She pouted, her gaze at Jiang Xiaotian filled with hate.

All that changed when she saw Ye Wan’er.

“How… How could this happen? Who did this?” Qin Lulu covered her mouth, incredulous as she looked at Ye Wan’er.

The girl in the hospital room was pitiable beyond words.

Jiang Xiaotian hadn’t explained well before, but when he clarified, telling her Ye Wan’er had her martial arts forcibly drained, Qin Lulu’s expression turned cold. “Was it Ling Zhi?”

Jiang Xiaotian shook his head. “Ling Zhi is already dead.”

“Then it can only be Chen Yu. How is he still alive!” Qin Lulu gritted her teeth, no longer lazy, and seemed to hate him as well.

She turned and walked downstairs.

Jiang Xiaotian grew anxious. “Please, save her—can you?”

“I know. Take me back so I can get my medical kit.” She suddenly seemed like a different person.

Jiang Xiaotian hurried to comply.

On the way, he learned that Ling Zhi and Chen Yu had harmed many girls already; Ye Wan’er’s situation was, compared to others, almost fortunate.

Many girls had already lost their lives when discovered, some even found with mutilated bodies. Though everyone knew who the culprit was, none had concrete evidence.

When Qin Lulu returned to the car, Jiang Xiaotian was shocked again.

She had tied up her hair, donned round spectacles, and though she wore hot pants, her pale legs were eye-catching.

With this makeover, she looked much prettier, but Jiang Xiaotian only cared about saving lives.

“Your aura is weak—it seems you aren’t even a martial artist?” He finally voiced his concern.

Qin Lulu laughed mockingly. “I’m a doctor, why should I be good at fighting? If you don’t trust me, take me back. I’m tired of the hassle anyway!”

Jiang Xiaotian shut his mouth, then went to the hospital to get a permit for Qin Lulu to enter the ward.

With her small medical kit, she looked the part.

Through the glass, he could see Qin Lulu seriously examining Ye Wan’er.

She frowned occasionally, apparently uncertain how to proceed.

After half an hour, she crouched down, opened the medical kit, and drew several silver needles.

Jiang Xiaotian was anxious, but dared not rush her. Though in TV dramas, experts always saved people with silver needles, in reality, it seemed unreliable.

Once Qin Lulu began the rescue, she was all focus, her laziness vanished.

She was young, yet to become the court’s military doctor at her age was no accident.

She pinched a thin needle between two fingers, brought it to her lips as if blowing on it, then gently pierced Ye Wan’er’s right index finger.

She repeated the process ten times, filling all the fingers on both hands.

Normally, silver needles are used to draw out toxins, but Qin Lulu was injecting something instead.

Another half hour passed. She withdrew all the needles, packed her kit, and came out.

“Is she cured?” Jiang Xiaotian looked at Ye Wan’er, unchanged, his head spinning.

“You think I’m Hua Tuo? That it’s done instantly? Even computer antivirus isn’t that fast. Besides, this lady is barely hanging by a thread!” Qin Lulu rolled her eyes, thinking this man was an idiot.

But seeing Jiang Xiaotian do so much for the girl in the ward, Qin Lulu disliked him a little less.

“She’ll be better than now, and slowly recover, but the chances of a full cure aren’t high.” She sighed with regret.

Jiang Xiaotian’s expression dimmed. After all the effort, the chance remained slim.

Seeing his dejected look, Qin Lulu hastily added, “I only said I can’t cure her, not that she’s beyond hope.”

Jiang Xiaotian clicked his tongue, really wanting to hit her.

“There’s a way, but it’s as good as none. Only the one who caused it can undo it. However her martial arts were drained, they must be restored the same way.” Qin Lulu pushed her glasses, speaking seriously.

Jiang Xiaotian glared at her. “Oh, you mean I should capture Chen Yu to save her? Do you think that’s possible?”

Qin Lulu rolled her eyes and unleashed another string of curses. “You really are an idiot. Even kids know to infer from examples. If you can master his martial arts, wouldn’t that work?”

Jiang Xiaotian was taken aback, then shook his head. “No way. You want me to use such a harmful technique?”

“Enough! There’s no evil martial arts, only evil people. If you want to save her, you need this martial art. Tell me, is it good or bad?” Qin Lulu’s words, upon reflection, made some sense to Jiang Xiaotian.

“All right, then how do I learn his martial arts?” As long as he could save Ye Wan’er, he’d learn it, and simply not use it later.

Qin Lulu considered. “Hmm… It’s unlikely he’ll willingly teach you. Might as well kill him and be done with it.”

Jiang Xiaotian fell silent. Now that Chen Yu had fled, killing him was easier said than done.

Just then, a cough sounded, and Zhang Guodong appeared out of nowhere.

“Heh, Jiang Xiaotian, I heard you’ve signed up for the Martial Arts Tournament. If Chen Yu participates, are you confident you can defeat him?”
