Chapter Seven: Paid in Full
“Xiaotian? Are you alright? That’s good, as long as you’re okay.” Suddenly, a voice sounded behind him.
Jiang Xiaotian didn’t need to turn around to know who it was.
This was his only close friend from university.
“Zhang Wei, what are you doing here?” he asked, a little puzzled, and also a bit worried that something might have happened at school.
But Zhang Wei looked relieved as soon as he saw him, scratching his head. “You haven’t shown up at school for days. I went to your part-time job and they said you hadn’t been there either. I was worried something happened to you.”
Jiang Xiaotian felt a wave of gratitude. After chatting for a while, Zhang Wei suddenly remembered something. “Oh, right. You wouldn’t know. While you were gone, Chu Ran ran off with another guy. Heard he’s some rich kid. That woman is disgusting!”
This was actually part of the reason he came; he was afraid Jiang Xiaotian had heard about it and was taking it hard. After all, his friend had always been a bit timid.
But strangely, Jiang Xiaotian’s expression remained calm, as if it had nothing to do with him. Yet, the calmer he seemed, the more worried Zhang Wei became—it was so unlike him!
“Can we go now?” Ling’er said impatiently. She was tired of standing by the roadside and having to endure the stares of passersby. If it weren’t for the cars going by catching her interest, she’d probably be angry by now.
Only then did Zhang Wei notice Ling’er standing behind Jiang Xiaotian. In an instant, he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
He had never seen such a beautiful girl in his life!
He stared at the pair before him, bewildered. Clearly, they knew each other.
Jiang Xiaotian wasted no time in making introductions. “Ah, I almost forgot. I’ve found a job as a bodyguard. This is my boss, Miss Jiang. Miss Jiang, this is my friend, Zhang Wei.”
“Hello! Hello!” Zhang Wei greeted enthusiastically—partly because Ling’er was stunning, and partly because he was genuinely happy that his friend had landed such a job.
Ling’er gave a curt nod, her tone indifferent. She didn’t much care for humans.
Zhang Wei didn’t mind at all, and knowing he shouldn’t disturb Jiang Xiaotian at work, especially with the boss looking impatient, he quickly said his goodbyes. “Call me if you need anything. At least reply to my texts! I’ve got class this afternoon, but let’s have a meal together soon. And don’t you dare do anything stupid!”
With that, he rode off on his bike.
It was only then that Jiang Xiaotian remembered his phone hadn’t been charged in days and was probably dead.
“Your friend cares about you,” Ling’er remarked suddenly.
Jiang Xiaotian looked a little embarrassed. “It’s nothing to brag about—I only have this one friend. I used to have a girlfriend too, but she ran off with someone else.”
Without further delay, Jiang Xiaotian hailed a cab, wanting Ling’er to enjoy her first car ride.
At first, she was quite excited and thought it was fun, but by the time they reached the dealership, she was so nauseous she could barely stand.
Clearly, dragons get carsick.
But it didn’t dampen her spirits at all. In fact, her girlish side came out right away—she had her eye on a sports car.
Since they had the black card, Jiang Xiaotian took her straight to the Porsche dealership, where most of the cars were sports models. Ling’er couldn’t take her eyes off them.
If only she had a driver’s license, she’d have taken a few laps right then and there.
“Xiaotian, so these are the vehicles humans use? I must say, they’re truly beautiful!”
Especially the red 911—Ling’er stared at it for a long time.
Meanwhile, the salespeople nearby couldn’t help but hesitate.
They were all trying to figure out whether these two could actually afford a car.
Jiang Xiaotian looked ordinary, but the girl with him had an extraordinary aura.
But their clothes were cheap, hardly the attire of wealthy buyers.
Jiang Xiaotian noticed their scrutinizing glances. Normally, he would have wanted to disappear on the spot.
But things were different now—they really did have money, even if it was thanks to Ling’er.
And ever since he started training in the Dragon Breath technique, he’d become more confident and no longer so timid.
At that moment, two more people entered the showroom.
“Kai, are we paying in full for the car today?”
“Haha, if there’s a car, we’ll take it. Money’s not a problem, the only question is whether they have one available.”
The newcomers, a man and a woman, were Chen Kai and Chu Ran.
Chen Kai had been eyeing this car for a while. He brought Chu Ran today to pick up the car and win her over.
Girls like her were easy to fool—the car wasn’t even for her, but she’d cling to him anyway.
Especially since Chu Ran had never let Jiang Xiaotian touch her in all their time together, but in just a few days with him, he’d already scored. The thought amused him.
Just a simp, after all.
The sales team’s eyes lit up when they saw the pair, all hesitation gone.
Chen Kai was a textbook rich kid, and he’d brought a woman. This was a big sale dropped right in their laps!
“Kai, we’ve been waiting for you!” A plump man with a face full of smiles hurried over.
Chen Kai grinned and put his arm around Chu Ran. “Old Yang, is that 718 I like available?”
Yang Yuan had been in sales for years and was shrewd as they come. He feigned difficulty. “Well, there’s one, but you’ll need to pay a premium to get it right away…”
Chen Kai waved dismissively. “So you have one—that’s all that matters. Money is no object. As for the specs, let her pick.”
He gestured to Chu Ran as he spoke.
She looked surprised and flattered, and Chen Kai patted her head indulgently. “The passenger seat will belong to you from now on, so let’s make it just the way you want.”
Chu Ran blushed deeply, feeling as if she’d found her soulmate. My god, she was so happy!
Yang Yuan took them to the VIP lounge, served them tea, and handed Chu Ran the configuration list. “Miss, you can take a look at these options. Congratulations on finding such a loving and wealthy boyfriend!”
He laid it on thick, making Chen Kai beam and Chu Ran positively giddy.
But when she saw the prices, she was genuinely startled. A car that was originally five or six hundred thousand, once fully configured, was close to seven hundred thousand!
She’d never seen so much money in her life! But after seeing the sample sports car, she couldn’t help the stars in her eyes—she loved it!
When she finished picking, Chen Kai ticked off all the options she’d left out, and to her astonishment, produced a bank card. “Since you’ll be riding in it, it has to be the best.”
At that moment, Chu Ran felt she simply had to marry him.
Little did she know, Chen Kai had planned on buying the top configuration from the start—her choices didn’t matter.
The happiest of all was Yang Yuan, whose commission on this deal would be substantial. Especially for a fully loaded 718, which would total over a million once on the road!
“Ai, Kai, you’re so generous. Unlike that couple outside, standing there for ages and not buying a thing. When asked, they just say they’ll think about it. Honestly, they’re probably just here to look.”
Chen Kai chuckled. “Heh, not everyone has that kind of money. Anyway, we’ve got time to kill—shall we go have a look?”
Chu Ran nodded eagerly, completely lost to Chen Kai’s charms now.
On the other side, Jiang Xiaotian was already signing the paperwork—Ling’er insisted on the 911.
He’d thought it would only cost a few hundred thousand, but after asking, it turned out to be over 2.3 million!
He was stunned, but Ling’er didn’t care—she wanted what she wanted.
Just as everyone thought they were wasting time, Ling’er suddenly pulled out a black card, silencing the room.
Another full payment. The POS machine processed 2.5 million without a hitch—after all, they’d also chosen the top configuration, new wheels, custom paint, the works. Ling’er was even more excited than Jiang Xiaotian!
The salesperson assigned to them had thought they’d be trouble, but now realized they were the real deal, grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh, you two should have said something sooner! Please, come inside. Since the car needs modifications, you won’t be able to take it today, but as compensation, we’ll give you a crystal car model and an electronic key. Is that all right?”
Ling’er was disappointed she couldn’t drive it home, but cheered up at the compensation.
Jiang Xiaotian couldn’t help but laugh—how adorable this dragon was! A true little dragon maiden; she really was a girl.
“No need to fuss. Since we can’t take the car today, we won’t linger. Call us when it’s ready.”
Jiang Xiaotian was excited too, but there was no point hanging around.
He was still using an old button phone, and the salespeople just assumed he was being low-key.
Just as they were about to leave, a mocking voice rang out. “Well, well, look who it is!”
