Chapter Ninety-One: Guidance
Out of courtesy, Jiang Xiaotian still answered him with a smile. “I just think being alone is fine. Did you need something?”
Wang Lei exchanged a glance with the other two, then let the smile fade from his face. “Don’t think I can’t see it. You’ve got your eye on Xuening, don’t you?”
“Huh?” Jiang Xiaotian wondered if he had heard wrong.
Wang Lei even patted him on the shoulder. “All right, stop pretending. Those brainless stunts of yours were just to get Xuening’s attention, weren’t they? I advise you to know your place.”
Jiang Xiaotian hurriedly explained, “Brother, you’ve misunderstood. I have no interest in Wang Xuening at all.”
But Wang Lei seemed convinced that Jiang Xiaotian liked Wang Xuening, and his expression darkened at once. “I thought you were at least a man for daring to speak that way to Master Lin. I never expected you to be too cowardly to even admit when you like someone. You’re pathetic. Stay away from Xuening, and if you don’t, don’t blame me for being rude. Understand?”
Jiang Xiaotian had been about to say more, but on second thought, what was the point of arguing with these people? The best way to keep a good state of mind was not to debate with fools.
So he nodded. “Fine. I’ll listen to you.”
Wang Lei shot him a contemptuous glance. “Trash.”
With that, he and the other two left laughing and chatting, not giving Jiang Xiaotian the slightest thought.
Well, who would care about someone with so little backbone?
Granted, Wang Xuening did have some looks, but only compared with ordinary people.
The few girls Jiang Xiaotian knew, not to mention Ling'er and the Ouyang sisters, even Qin Lulu was several levels above her. How could he possibly be interested in Wang Xuening?
These people had far too narrow a view and far too small a horizon. No wonder they were born in Dragon City, a place so rich in spiritual treasure, and still remained stuck at the early stage of external force.
And that old Master Lin, with such a long life already under his belt, had never even heard of the Lin Family Fist.
Jiang Xiaotian shook his head and stopped thinking about it. Yet before he knew it, Wang Xuening had come over beside him again.
Wanting to keep away from this woman, he immediately quickened his pace.
Who would have thought she would actually run after him and block his way? “Hey! What’s wrong with you? Why do you keep picking fights with Master Lin?”
“Why do you always misunderstand people too? When did I ever pick a fight with Master Lin? When was it ever me who started talking first?” Jiang Xiaotian said in bewilderment.
But he was right. Wang Xuening was momentarily stunned. She bit her lip and said, “Then can’t you at least give him a little face? Look at his strength, look at yours. What if you anger him and he leaves? What are the others supposed to do?”
Jiang Xiaotian felt this woman’s train of thought was truly a little off. Someone comes looking for trouble with me, and I’m not only not allowed to answer back, I’m supposed to indulge him as well? Why were all these martial artists the same?
If Wang Xuening’s attitude had not been decent enough, Jiang Xiaotian would already have packed up and left. At worst, he could just go it alone.
“Miss Wang, please show some mercy. I’m just here to make up the numbers. I don’t want any trouble. Could you speak to that Master Lin and tell him not to bother me anymore?”
Jiang Xiaotian had expected her to flare up again, but to his surprise, Wang Xuening actually fell silent. After a moment, she nodded. “I’ll try. But don’t talk back again. Master Lin is very strong. If he gets angry and wants to beat you up, none of us can protect you.”
Jiang Xiaotian was a little surprised. So this woman wasn’t completely mindless after all.
“Mm, then thank you,” he said, and quickened his pace again, no longer caring that Wang Xuening was calling after him from behind.
Because not far away, Wang Lei had already cast him a murderous look. Jiang Xiaotian truly did not want any more conflict with these young brats.
Back at the hotel, Jiang Xiaotian had no intention of sleeping. Instead, he began circulating the Dragon Breath Art.
Dragon City was such a fine place, with spiritual energy so abundant. It would be a terrible waste not to make good use of it.
He had by now become quite skilled in the Dragon Breath Art, and before long, wisps of spiritual energy flowed into his body.
However, Jiang Xiaotian had remained at the first level of Heaven for quite some time, and for some reason he still had not broken through.
He could feel that for a long while now, his spiritual energy had been fully saturated. He was only one step away from the breakthrough, yet the door itself was nowhere to be found.
Once he returned this time, he would have to ask Ling'er carefully.
After all, he had broken through to the first level of Heaven in a rather muddled way. Without Ling'er’s help, Jiang Xiaotian had no clue at all.
Thinking of this, he continued absorbing spiritual energy, consolidating his foundation.
As for the instability those martial artists saw in him, that was only because Jiang Xiaotian did not possess so-called martial force, while spiritual energy was invisible to them. Naturally, they concluded that he was nothing but an empty shell.
In the blink of an eye, dawn broke. Jiang Xiaotian stretched, full of energy.
The first thing he did was check the latest news, to see whether there had been any progress regarding the treasure seizure.
However, the authorities still seemed to be negotiating with the three major families, so there was no definitive answer yet.
But according to other people’s analysis, the one who would inevitably suffer this time was the Ouyang family. Not only would they have to give up their territory, but even the feud with the Zhao family could no longer be settled openly.
So once the treasure seizure began, conflict between the Zhao family and the Ouyang family was inevitable. There was no need even to think about it.
Jiang Xiaotian looked on and thought that if things really turned out that way, he would definitely have to help the Ouyang family. Not just for those two beauties, but also to give Zhao Zhengyang’s lapdogs a proper beating.
If only Zhao Yin were here. Jiang Xiaotian would beat the filth out of that old dog and thief until he begged for mercy, or else he would truly change his name to Jiang Great Strength.
After he had finished checking the news, someone came to knock on the door and said that Wang Xuening wanted to gather everyone.
No need to guess; it was surely the matter mentioned yesterday, where Master Lin would give guidance to everyone.
Though Jiang Xiaotian truly had no interest at all, if he did not go, he would probably end up with a grudge against that bastard. Right now, he did not want to go looking for trouble.
So Jiang Xiaotian got dressed and went downstairs to meet the others.
Almost everyone except him looked excited.
After all, being able to receive guidance from Master Lin was something they could only dream of, and now it had actually happened.
The two independent cultivators in particular were overjoyed. They were counting on this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and hopefully break through sooner.
Soon Wang Xuening appeared. Seeing that Jiang Xiaotian had arrived, she let out a breath of relief, then explained to everyone, “I’ll take everyone there shortly. I rented a gym. We’ll practice there and try to make some progress before the treasure seizure begins. Master Lin has already gone ahead, so let’s hurry as well.”
The others had long been impatient, so as soon as Wang Xuening finished speaking, the group set off at once.
It had to be said, the Wang family was indeed wealthy, and Wang Xuening was especially generous. She had rented an entire floor of the gym for a full day.
Jiang Xiaotian could not help but sigh. If he were that rich, he definitely would not bother being some martial artist. Wasn’t it better to live each day happily?
When the crowd entered the boxing room, Master Lin was already standing on the stage, legs set in a horse stance, eyes closed as he cultivated his spirit.
Though he looked as if he were asleep, his bearing was fierce and sharp, as though no one could come close to him.
Everyone quickly found seats, and at that same moment, Master Lin opened his eyes.
He looked around, saw Jiang Xiaotian there, and gave an offhand smile.
“Friends, I, Lin, am not talented. I have only barely reached the mid stage of external force after all these years. Compared with me, all of you are Dragon City’s future. It is my honor, Lin’s honor, to instruct you here today!”
As he spoke, he cupped his hands. The people below hurriedly said it was their honor instead, and Jiang Xiaotian felt a wave of disgust. What, did this idiot think he was here to give a speech?
After that passionate opening, Master Lin wasted no more time. He directly asked Wang Xuening to have someone come up first so he could demonstrate his methods.
No need to guess, Wang Xuening would definitely have her own people go first. After some selection, Wang Lei went up.
The young man seemed to like Wang Xuening, so he had an especially strong desire to show off.
As he went up onto the stage, he even glanced toward Jiang Xiaotian in the corner, a barely perceptible mockery hidden at the corners of his mouth.
Master Lin adopted his stance, took a deep breath, and said kindly to Wang Lei, “Please.”
Then he simply placed one hand behind his back.
Wang Lei did not forget his manners either. “Master Lin, I offend you!”
With that, he gathered his energy and attacked, fighting Master Lin back and forth in a match that seemed evenly balanced.
But Jiang Xiaotian could tell at a glance that Master Lin was not only using only one hand, he was not even fighting at full strength.
Wang Lei could not even beat that. Jiang Xiaotian could not help but click his tongue twice.
