Chapter Ninety-Two: Speechless
The longer the time went on, the more Jiang Xiaotian felt that Wang Lei was just showing off. Every move he made was strikingly stylish but empty, clearly meant to impress someone. No doubt, it was for Wang Xuening. Yet this guy didn’t even glance at Jiang Xiaotian in the audience, his eyes filled with arrogance.
Jiang Xiaotian found it amusing. For ordinary people, Wang Lei might already be considered a martial arts expert, but to him, it was no different from playing with children.
After a round of sparring, Wang Lei was drenched in sweat and gasping for breath, while Master Lin remained calm and composed, as if he had never even moved.
Wang Lei bowed again. "As expected of Master Lin! I’m ashamed to admit I’m no match! You’re incredibly strong! At mid-stage external force, you must be unbeatable!"
Master Lin chuckled without confirming or denying. He gave Wang Lei some pointers, praising his talent and decent strength but emphasizing the need to control his temperament. He went on at length, mostly compliments, calling him a prodigy with an unlimited future ahead.
Wang Lei’s smirk grew wider; he was brimming with pride, nostrils flaring as if to say, “How about you?”
What an idiot.
Several more family members from the Wang clan took their turns, and although they weren’t quite as good as Wang Lei, they fought with all their might and seriousness. Their performances lacked flair but demonstrated genuine skill.
Master Lin maintained his effortless demeanor, “guiding” these juniors with utmost seriousness. In reality, however, he was only skimming the surface, failing to address the crux of their issues. Any normal observer could spot the flaws, yet these young clansmen were deeply grateful to him. The gap between small clans and major families lay chiefly in the elders.
The Ouyang and Zhao clans, for example, had formidable elders who could offer genuine guidance. For their own kin, they spared no effort. They would never be like this Master Lin, muddling through half-heartedly.
Jiang Xiaotian couldn’t help but reflect that being born into a good family was a truth that applied even to martial artists.
By midday, nearly everyone had taken the stage for practice. Master Lin paid little attention to the outsiders, focusing more on harsh critiques than guidance.
The last to step up was Wang Xuening. Wang Lei, who had been pointing and whispering from below, suddenly grew silent, watching intently as if unwilling to miss a single detail.
Watching a beautiful woman perform was a kind of enjoyment, so Jiang Xiaotian’s interest was piqued as well.
Facing Wang Xuening, Master Lin no longer took it lightly; he only yielded his left hand.
“Miss Wang, please,” he said politely, opening his eyes and nodding.
Wang Xuening nodded and struck fiercely.
Her movements were exceptionally swift and precise. Though a girl, even Jiang Xiaotian couldn’t help but admire her.
As the leader among the Wang family’s younger generation, within minutes, she had seamlessly integrated all the techniques previously demonstrated by the Wang disciples.
Her offensive was relentless, forcing Master Lin to retreat step by step. One hand was simply not enough to fend her off!
Jiang Xiaotian was astonished. Though Wang Xuening was only at the early stage of external force, she was truly fierce! Several times, Master Lin nearly used his left hand.
This woman was usually respectful to Master Lin, but in actual combat, she showed no mercy. The young boys and girls below cheered nonstop, praising her prowess.
It was indeed impressive, a sincere admiration from Jiang Xiaotian. She was on a completely different level from the others.
Moreover, every move she made was stunningly beautiful and natural, far surpassing the pretentious Wang Lei.
Wang Lei’s eyes widened in disbelief. As Wang Xuening’s devoted little fan, he even glared back at Jiang Xiaotian, warning him not to stare so intently.
What an idiot.
Though Wang Xuening was formidable, the disparity in strength was clear. Perhaps feeling his reputation was at stake, Master Lin grew serious.
Early-stage external force was no match for mid-stage. Soon, Wang Xuening, exhausted, admitted defeat.
Master Lin maintained his ethereal, graceful demeanor, as if he had never exerted himself.
Yet for the onlookers, her duel with Master Lin was astonishingly impressive—truly formidable!
Jiang Xiaotian agreed internally, but the fact was, Master Lin wasn’t serious, and Wang Xuening was no match for him. His sudden earnestness only made him seem petty.
Outsiders couldn’t see this; only Jiang Xiaotian and Wang Xuening herself sensed it.
Master Lin spent the longest time advising Wang Xuening. She was not easily fooled; trivial advice held little value for her.
After the session, everyone thanked Master Lin once again. He basked in the admiration, clearly enjoying the moment.
Just as Jiang Xiaotian prepared to leave, Wang Lei suddenly challenged, “Master Lin! Isn’t there one person left who hasn’t received your guidance?”
At once, all eyes turned to Jiang Xiaotian, the only one left uncoached.
Jiang Xiaotian clicked his tongue, thinking this kid never quits.
Master Lin smiled lightly, unfazed. “Jiang Dali, is it? From what I’ve heard, his strength might even surpass mine. He probably doesn’t need my guidance.”
Laughter erupted from the audience. Wang Xuening quickly spoke up, “We’re a team. Mocking one of our own is pointless. We must stand united against outsiders!”
Her charisma was undeniable, and Master Lin nodded slightly. “Indeed. Very well, Dali, come up and spar with me. If you have any questions, I’ll point them out.”
“Master Lin truly is a great man; his magnanimity surpasses some people!”
“That’s right! Aren’t you going to thank Sister Xuening? Without her, you wouldn’t even have this chance!”
Whispers and chatter filled the room.
Master Lin’s gaze toward Jiang Xiaotian was filled with pity, as if this opportunity was a charity.
“No thanks,” Jiang Xiaotian said again, shocking everyone.
He stood up, dusted off his pants, and walked straight for the door. “Since you’re done, I’ll be leaving. Not bad, quite entertaining.”
The entire boxing gym erupted instantly.
No one expected Jiang Xiaotian to be so shameless!
“Jiang Dali! You’re too ungrateful! Master Lin is giving you face, and you refuse!”
“Exactly! Who do you think you are? I’m dying laughing—what a joke!”
“Sister Xuening, why did you bring in such a troublemaker? I’m done! What if you drive Master Lin away?”
Wang Xuening was stunned. She had sincerely wanted to help Jiang Xiaotian—after all, outsiders like him had it tough—but she hadn’t expected such a terrible temper, and for him to disgrace Master Lin like that!
“Let him go. Don’t bother with him anymore,” she sighed, unwilling to waste energy on Jiang Xiaotian.
Master Lin shook his head helplessly. “Miss Wang, you saw for yourself. It’s not that I’m unwilling to humble myself, but this kid... sigh. If he stays, I won’t protect such a bad temper—it might drag everyone down.”
Many agreed, demanding Jiang Xiaotian be expelled. Wang Xuening frowned in frustration.
But with so many voices raised, she couldn’t ignore the matter.
“Enough. Stop arguing. Let’s do this: if Jiang Dali causes trouble, we’ll confront him directly. He has no ties to us. Until then, don’t kick him out.”
Their numbers were already slim; driving someone away now would tarnish their reputation.
Wang Lei, however, was furious upon hearing this. He couldn’t believe they hadn’t managed to get rid of that annoying guy!
Jiang Xiaotian saw all this but remained indifferent. Not their problem? Fine. When danger comes, don’t expect him to save anyone.
With Master Lin’s foolishness, who could rely on him? When trouble strikes, that old man would probably run faster than anyone.
Jiang Xiaotian gave it no more thought and returned to his hotel to train.
In the following days, Wang Xuening didn’t approach him anymore, not even calling him to the initial briefing.
That was fine—peaceful.
Four days passed in a flash. One morning, when Jiang Xiaotian opened his eyes, he found the forum had exploded, even crashing so he couldn’t log in.
Finally squeezing in, he saw that the three parties had reached an agreement, and the treasure hunting date was set, with the details already announced!
Jiang Xiaotian smiled; the day he had been waiting for had finally arrived!
