Volume One, Chapter 8: Self-Destruction and Abandoning the Vehicle to Escape
Ahahaha~
Meng Yuan let out a hearty laugh in her heart.
To think there could be someone so shameless in this world—it was truly eye-opening.
“Actually... not everyone can...”
Isn’t the one interested in your identity just a villain? What’s so impressive about that?
Meng Yuan predicted silently when exactly he would be brought to justice by the righteous side.
“Can what?”
“Never mind, I didn’t say anything.”
He Kun really couldn’t figure this woman out. He clearly heard her speak, yet she denied ever saying anything. A woman’s heart was truly an unfathomable needle in the sea.
He became even more resolute not to fall for a woman. If a woman who wasn’t even sure if the child she was carrying was his could affect his emotions so much, what would happen in the future?
“Annoying.” He stood up and headed for the cockpit.
Huh? Complaining about me being annoying yet talking so much yourself.
She propped her chin with her right hand, silently praying to the direction he went, hoping he wouldn’t come back out.
Suddenly, she remembered the snake pattern on her arm.
How could she have forgotten something so important?
Ever since she discovered the snake pattern on the day of her medical exam, the nurse operating the equipment had been surprised upon seeing it.
“So you’re already betrothed!”
After confirming her pregnancy, the nurse had said many words of congratulations.
At that moment, she was certain the snake pattern on her arm was connected to that man.
But what meaning did this almost transparent white snake tattoo hold? Could it be that he took advantage of her unconsciousness to have someone tattoo it on her?
Just then, the figure of the female housekeeper appeared at the bedroom door, beckoning her over.
Meng Yuan quickly walked toward her.
The housekeeper immediately typed a few words on her phone.
“It’s done, it’s done.”
“I’ve already activated real-time tracking with the colonel. I believe he’ll send someone to rescue us soon.”
Meng Yuan nodded, though she wondered why all the machines on the flying car had their signals blocked but her phone did not.
That question would have to wait until after they were rescued to ask Resde.
The two waited anxiously in the bedroom for the rescue. In less than five minutes, an alarm sounded in the air.
“It’s the colonel’s people,” the housekeeper said excitedly as she stood up.
Meng Yuan was helped to the window to see what was happening outside.
Two small warships flanked the flying car. At that moment, a warning sounded from the cockpit, demanding immediate release of the hostage or they would begin an assault.
Suddenly, an unknown flying car appeared and attacked one of the warships. But how could a warship be taken down by just a flying car? The warship immediately retaliated with heavy cannon fire.
The unknown flying car emitted black smoke and crashed to the ground.
He Kun slammed his fist on the table. “What’s going on? Weren’t all the signals from this flying car supposed to be blocked? How could the Helna Empire police have found us?”
Erik was also curious. After checking, he found that aside from normal driving functions, there was absolutely no signal coming from the flying car.
“Master, perhaps we were tracked by their police as soon as we entered the Helna Empire’s territory, and they waited until we were in open air to make their move.”
He Kun frowned. For now, that was the only plausible explanation.
“Master, one of the hidden subordinates was taken out. Should we send out another to divert the warship’s attention?”
“Send.”
“Yes.”
The matter of the child was critical. Even the slightest hope was enough for He Kun to try. If the child was not his after the magnetic birth, he would tear her apart alive to honor the fallen subordinate.
Suddenly, Meng Yuan sneezed in the bedroom. The housekeeper softly asked, “Miss, are you feeling unwell? You had stomach pain just now. Should I help you rest on the bed?”
“No need.” Probably someone was gossiping about her.
Colonel Resde stood in the cockpit, clad in military uniform.
“Colonel, the enemy is accelerating. Should we ram them?”
“No. There’s still a hostage inside,” the adjutant immediately stopped him.
Having served the colonel for many years, he had never seen him personally come to a scene just for one hostage. This showed how important the person inside was. Moreover, ramming them risked a crash.
“Ensure the hostage’s safety while controlling the flying car,” Resde ordered.
“Yes.”
Meng Yuan’s identity was special. Under no circumstances could she and her child fall into the hands of the Rebel Alliance. If they learned of the young master’s existence, their actions would become even more reckless. Additionally, he had to keep secret that she was fully human.
It was unimaginable—if the major star systems knew there were pure humans with powerful reproductive capabilities, they might unite to eliminate their nation.
Resde’s warship issued another warning. The adversary made no move, so the warships began to encircle and attack from front and rear.
Erik slammed the brakes abruptly, nearly crashing.
The two in the bedroom lost their balance, but luckily the housekeeper used a faint mental force to protect the lady.
“Miss, you’re safer lying in bed. More situations like this may occur.”
“Alright.” For the child in her womb, Meng Yuan obediently lay down, with the housekeeper guarding beside her to prevent her from falling during any sudden jolts.
Erik turned the flying car, attempting to escape from the side, but several flying cars rose and completely blocked both sides.
“Damn it.” He Kun hadn’t expected that the enemy would deploy small warships, even though his original intention was only to kill a female.
Thinking of her medical report, the police’s attitude forced him to suspect it was genuine.
Perhaps the child in her womb really was his.
But he couldn’t focus on that now. He released his mental power to attack the opposing pilot.
Unexpectedly, a stronger mental force blocked him.
He immediately recognized the owner of that mental power.
Colonel Resde.
Why was he personally here?
Oh right, that woman had always lived in his estate. If the medical report wasn’t forged, such an important female did warrant his personal attention.
“I can guarantee your safe departure if you ensure the hostage’s safety,” Resde said.
“Heh, such a trivial matter warrants the colonel himself? Seems this female holds a high status!”
The two exchanged mental powers.
Resde remained silent for two seconds. “I’ll give you one minute to decide.”
He Kun looked at their flying car trapped in the middle, thinking deeply. “Erik, can you ascend or descend sharply and break through?”
Before Erik could answer, police sirens sounded on the ground. Several police vehicles followed on land, all officers aiming their guns at them except the drivers.
“Master, the situation is dire. Shall we abandon the car and escape? There’s a self-destruct mechanism. If we leave just before it explodes, the surrounding flying cars and warships will be damaged, and the police won’t be able to pursue us.”
He Kun agreed without hesitation. “Do it.”
