A soft, delicate voice reached his ears, and the fierce expression in Fu Shiyue's eyes vanished in an instant.
His voice was low and deep. "Finished dinner with your friend?"
"Mm."
Lu Miao heard a heart-wrenching howl from his side and asked curiously, "What are you doing?"
Fu Shiyue covered the phone, walking briskly out of the darkroom. "Don’t let your childish curiosity get the better of you."
Lu Miao disliked that nickname and frowned. "You’re not doing anything illegal, are you?"
Fu Shiyue snorted, leaning against the railing as he lit a cigarette. "Should I come pick you up?"
"Yes, I’ll send the address to your phone."
Fu Shiyue hesitated. "I can’t receive it. Add me on WeChat."
"Oh, this is your number?"
"Yeah."
Without much thought, Lu Miao copied his number and searched it.
The profile picture was of a black Doberman wearing a suit—very handsome.
Lu Miao thought it resembled him a bit and sent a friend request, which was quickly accepted.
She sent him her location, then said, "Hurry up, I’m waiting by the roadside. The sun’s a bit harsh."
He replied instantly, "Ten minutes."
Seeing those words, Lu Miao pressed her lips and couldn’t help but smile.

She stood by the roadside waiting for the man to arrive, and on a whim, she opened his Moments.
...It was just a single horizontal line.
Had he blocked her?
Just as Lu Miao was about to block him in return, a roaring engine thundered down the distant street. A flashy drift, tires screeching, and the car slammed to a halt right in front of her.
"Miao Miao?!"
Hearing that sharp voice, Lu Miao’s brow immediately furrowed.
She looked up to see a flashy pink Ferrari.
Inside sat a man and a woman. The man was unfamiliar, but the woman was Lu Tingcheng, daughter of her eldest uncle, Lu Guoxun.
Lu Tingcheng had never gotten along with Lu Miao. Growing up in the Lu household, Grandfather Lu favored Lu Miao more, which made Lu Tingcheng resentful. She would compete for everything with Lu Miao, and when losing, resort to scheming. But Lu Miao was no pushover; once, she pushed Lu Tingcheng into a cesspit, leaving the stench haunting her dreams at night.
Lu Miao despised Lu Tingcheng’s manipulative, green tea bitch persona—always competing, never winning, petty and brainless.
"Miao Miao, why are you here?"
Lu Miao fanned herself lightly. "Just cooling off by the roadside. It’s gotten hot, and the flies have increased."
Lu Tingcheng didn’t understand and proudly flaunted, "Miao Miao, let me introduce you to my boyfriend, Ling Feng. He’s the eldest son of the Ling family, recently listed among the wealthy elites, and the first heir to a fortune worth billions."
Lu Miao’s expression remained calm. "Oh, you speak so extravagantly. Are you trying to set him up with me?"
Lu Tingcheng choked, "Lu Miao, have you no shame? Just because Ling Feng’s family is rich, you’re scheming to get him!"
"Then why do you keep pushing him on me?" Lu Miao winked slyly.
Lu Tingcheng’s face flushed with anger. "Lu Miao! I’m your cousin, and I introduced Ling to you. What status do you have? Do you think Ling Feng would be interested in you?"

Lu Miao glanced at Ling Feng’s slick, made-up face and smiled. "Then please watch your boyfriend’s eyes. He’s already glanced at me several times."
Lu Tingcheng turned her head and saw Ling Feng indeed looking at Lu Miao, her eyes reddening with jealousy. "Ling Feng! What are you doing?"
Ling Feng snapped back to reality and, seeing Lu Tingcheng about to cry, quickly wrapped an arm around her shoulders to comfort her. "Baby, don’t listen to her nonsense. You know I love you the most."
Lu Tingcheng pouted, demanding a kiss to feel better.
Ling Feng leaned in.
Lu Miao frowned slightly in discomfort and turned her head toward a nearby trash bin, feeling a bit nauseated.
But Lu Tingcheng felt elated showing off their affection, her vanity immensely satisfied.
She beamed, "Lu Miao, I heard Wang Mingcheng got arrested. You must be lonely being single now. Want me to have Ling Feng introduce someone to you? The people in his circle are way more refined than those nouveau riches you know!"
"You keep those to yourself. After all, one’s not enough to satisfy your appetite, right?"
Lu Tingcheng scoffed. "Miao Miao, stop being so stubborn. Look at you, waiting here alone with no one to pick you up. I’d give you a ride, but there’s no space. How about you take a shared bike home? Cheap and saves money, just like you."
Lu Miao looked at her lightly. "Who says no one’s coming to pick me up?"
"Heh, who then?"
Lu Miao lifted her chin. "See? Isn’t he coming now?"
