Volume One, Chapter Two: He Actually Wants to Move into Her House?!
Page 1/3
It was the same tired conversation over and over again.
Lu Miao didn’t want to listen and hung up in annoyance.
Lu Yan didn’t bother to take care of her himself, instead leaving her to be looked after by another man—what kind of irresponsible guardian was he?
She glanced at the man who was uninvolved and instinctively lumped him together with Lu Yan, feeling not a trace of goodwill. “Please stop the car. I’m getting out here.”
The man seemed not to hear her and rested one hand on the steering wheel, his tone casually indifferent. “I promised your uncle I’d take you home.”
“I don’t want you to.”
Fu Shiyue ignored her words. Lu Miao angrily grabbed the steering wheel. “I told you to stop the car! Did you hear me or not?”
The car screeched to a sudden halt, and Lu Miao nearly collided with the windshield.
Fu Shiyue’s dark eyes fixed on her.
Lu Miao met his gaze, her heart tightening, but her expression remained stiff. “Open the door. I’m getting out.”
Fu Shiyue snorted lowly and immediately turned off the engine.
Lu Miao tried to pull the door handle but found it locked. “What are you doing?”
“Are you going to behave and let me take you home, or are you going to waste time here?”
Lu Miao clenched her jaw.
Fu Shiyue looked at her, knowing the young girl was angry, her flushed, pouty face somehow endearing.
But even Fu Shiyue’s patience was wearing thin dealing with this troublesome girl.
He pulled out a cigarette, opened the window, and said lightly, “Take your time if you’re still confused.”
The glow of the flame illuminated the man’s cold, firm jaw. He looked out the window and smoked leisurely.
Lu Miao glared at him fiercely.
His unyielding attitude was even more infuriating than Lu Yan’s!
Minutes ticked by as the car remained stopped on the overpass. The northwest wind swept through the wide-open windows, nearly freezing Lu Miao’s face stiff.
She sniffled and glared at the calm-faced man, biting her teeth and enunciating every word through clenched teeth, “Ocean Hai Lanting! If you can’t get me there in ten minutes, you’re a loser!”
Fu Shiyue glanced at her, crushed out the cigarette, closed the window, and started the car.
He slammed the accelerator, nearly making Lu Miao vomit up her dinner.
...
Before ten minutes had passed, they arrived at the underground parking of Ocean Hai Lanting.
Lu Miao opened the door, holding her mouth as she staggered out.
Ugh.
She almost collapsed at the roadside, catching sight of the man also stepping out of the car.
Immediately, she straightened up like a pole, her face calm and indifferent. “This is where I get off. You don’t have to come up.”
She said it stiffly, then slammed the door with a loud bang.
Fu Shiyue put his hands in his pockets, pursed his lips, and watched Lu Miao walk away without looking back.
The seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl had quite the temper—she probably wanted to tear his car door off.
Lu Miao kept her head down as she walked forward.
When she reached the elevator entrance and looked up, she saw the man was actually following her. She eyed him curiously. “Why are you following me?”
Page 2/3
He walked beside Lu Miao, watching the elevator’s floor numbers rise. In a calm voice, he said, “I’m taking you upstairs.”
“I said there’s no need—”
The man didn’t give her the chance to refuse and pressed the elevator button.
The elevator doors slowly opened. The girl’s sharp, black-and-white eyes cut at him, clearly displeased.
He remained unperturbed, lifting his chin slightly. “Get in. I have to make sure you get home safely.”
Lu Miao stood frozen.
The man stepped in on his own, pressed the door-open button, and looked down quietly at her stubborn little face.
It was like looking at a rebellious, bullied child.
The bright white light inside the elevator outlined the man’s tall, slender figure, exuding patience and calm.
Lu Miao stood at the entrance, resisting him for quite a while until the elevator alarm beeped twice. She turned to run.
This man was insisting on escorting her to her doorstep—surely he had ill intentions. She refused to let him enter her home!
Before she could step out, a hand shot out from inside the elevator and yanked her back in.
With a thud, Lu Miao was pressed against the elevator wall, immobilized, under a heavy gaze that captured her. The doors slowly closed.
“Daring to run away?”
Her throat tightened; she swallowed hard. “Let me go.”
Fu Shiyue’s oppressive eyes softened when he saw her timid expression. “Which floor?”
“...20.”
Fu Shiyue released her and turned to press the button for the twentieth floor.
Lu Miao looked on anxiously, watching his clear, veined hand lightly brush over the row of buttons before selecting the twentieth floor.
The elevator moved smoothly, but Lu Miao’s heart raced chaotically.
That man’s gaze just now had been so dangerous.
It was as if if she didn’t obey, he’d punish her like he did Wang Mingcheng.
The elevator soon reached the twentieth floor.
The doors slid open, and Lu Miao dashed out like a flash. She reached her door, quickly unlocking it with her fingerprint before the man could catch up.
With a beep, the door opened, and she slipped inside, closing it just as the man’s steady footsteps approached. He raised his hand and caught the door.
Lu Miao was startled. “What are you doing?”
Fu Shiyue looked at the frightened young girl inside, softening the commanding aura about him. “Your uncle said you often don’t come home at night. To prevent you from sneaking out, he asked me to watch over you.”
Lu Miao peered through the small crack in the door at him. “I’m not going to sneak out, and I don’t need you to watch me.”
“That’s not for you to decide. Since I promised your uncle, I have to fulfill my duty. I’ll be here watching you tonight.”
The man spoke sternly, and Lu Miao immediately grasped the implication.
“Wait—are you going to live here?”
“Technically, yes.”
“...”
Lu Miao’s face darkened. “You wish!”
The man still wanted to live in her home? Although he was a friend of her uncle’s, they were a young man and a young woman who had met less than an hour ago—not nearly close enough to share a living space!
Lu Miao forcefully pushed his hand away. His hand was as cold as ice but she ignored it and slammed the door shut without mercy.

“Bang!”
The door nearly hit Fu Shiyue’s face.
He stood outside for a while, the corner of his mouth tugging slightly.
Lu Miao had run so fast she’d left a sandal outside the door.
Fu Shiyue looked down at it, lost in thought, then bent to pick up the shoe.
He raised his hand and entered the password.
Lu Miao slumped like a deflated balloon the moment she got home.
She grabbed a beer from the fridge, ready to drink deeply, when she suddenly heard the unlocking sound.
Her hand froze mid-motion as she watched the door open, and the man walk confidently inside her home.
?!
Lu Miao was stunned for a full ten seconds, eyes wide with panic. “How did you get in?!”
He calmly recited a string of numbers. “586426?”
It was Lu Miao’s name.
She stared at the uninvited guest. “How do you know my home password?”
The man closed the door casually. “Your uncle told me.”
Lu Yan even told him that?!
Was he crazy? She was only a seventeen-year-old girl, and a man had just barged into her home. Didn’t Lu Yan worry at all about her safety?
Fu Shiyue did not step inside immediately. Standing tall in the entryway, looking at the bright floor, he politely asked, “Do you have slippers I can wear?”
“No!”
Lu Miao reached for a kitchen knife.
Fu Shiyue knew she was being difficult and didn’t press further, but his politeness lasted only a second before he opened her shoe cabinet.
Lu Miao watched him act like he owned the place, unable to grab the knife now, stomping angrily. “This is my home! Get out!”
“I promised your uncle I’d take good care of you.”
He surveyed the disorganized shoe cabinet, stuffed full, and put the girl’s sandals inside.
Only one pair of men’s slippers were there.
Lu Yan’s.
Fu Shiyue closed the cabinet with a look of disgust.
His shoe soles were clearly clean, but he rubbed them on the mat again and again before stepping inside.
Under the girl’s furious glare, he approached and snatched the beer from her hand. “Drink less, especially not cold drinks.”
Lu Miao’s eyes widened at how easily he took it. “I’m calling the police for trespassing!”
“Go ahead.”
Suddenly, he stepped forward. Lu Miao was so frightened she stepped back, only to crash into the refrigerator with a loud bang.
The atmosphere instantly grew tense.
