Administrative Manager Cui Yan had just received a notification from Chen Xue of the Marketing Department on Da Bai, saying that Zhou Yang was coming to pick up some materials. Cui Yan opened Zhou Yang’s personal information and was staring at his photo when he heard a commotion outside. He stepped out and saw Zhou Yang standing there to collect the materials.
“Marketing and Sales Department, sales representative at S2 grade, right?” Cui Yan asked, holding the documents to verify.
“Yes!” Zhou Yang replied.
“What?” Lü Wei standing nearby was stunned. When did Zhou Yang become an S2-level employee in the Marketing and Sales Department? Her own rank was only S1! Zhou Yang was a whole level above her! Moreover, the Marketing and Sales Department was the core division of EPS Group, holding a prestigious position. The sales representative role came with an uncapped commission system—closing a client could earn tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, in commission. The prospects were limitless.
Whereas Lü Wei, no matter how long she stayed, would only receive a fixed salary. Her expression shifted rapidly from shock, to jealousy, then frustration, displaying a very vivid range of emotions.
Colleagues nearby cast admiring looks toward Zhou Yang. Young women in the company all favored the handsome men in sales. Several young administrative staff now had gleaming eyes. After all, most of the young male sales reps were already taken, but Zhou Yang was new and had just recently broken up—an absolute catch in the eyes of the young ladies.
“Xiao Lü, don’t just stand there. Go to the warehouse and fetch the materials for Zhou Yang,” Cui Yan urged.
“Okay,” Lü Wei said dejectedly and went to the administrative warehouse. She gathered the materials from the list with great effort and lugged them over. The supplies were numerous—laptop, notebook, desk calendar, and so on, all thoughtfully arranged.
Zhou Yang carefully gathered everything into his arms and stepped out. But as soon as he opened the door, a fragrant breeze hit him, and he collided with the figure before him, dropping everything on the floor.
“I’m so sorry, I’m sorry!” the girl hurriedly apologized.
She looked up and met Zhou Yang’s gaze, and in that instant, he was stunned. Before him stood a tall, slender beauty about five feet seven inches, with a pure and sweet appearance. Her eyes were like autumn waters, and Zhou Yang felt truly taken aback, his heart pounding.
She was breathtakingly beautiful—not just in features and temperament, but with an indescribable sense that stirred his heart.
“Sorry, let me help you pick these up,” the girl said quickly, bending down to gather the scattered items.

“There are so many things; it’s hard to carry alone. Lulu, why don’t you help Zhou Yang deliver these to his department?” Administrative Manager Cui Yan suggested.
“Okay!” Bai Lu replied.
“Thanks a lot!” Zhou Yang said gratefully.
On the way back to the department, Zhou Yang and Bai Lu chatted briefly. He learned that Bai Lu was the administrative receptionist for the group, mainly stationed at the front desk of the EPS Group lobby as the company’s face. Indeed, beautiful women were the company’s pride.
Coincidentally, Bai Lu and Zhou Yang graduated from the same university. She was one year ahead and had joined EPS Group earlier. Suddenly, Zhou Yang recalled, “A flock of egrets soaring into the blue sky, Bai Lu is more beautiful than a celestial fairy. Senior, you wouldn’t happen to be Bai Lu, the most beautiful campus queen of Shen University, would you?”
“*Ahem,* just a reputation,” Bai Lu said with a shy smile.
“It really is you!” Zhou Yang said, shocked.
Bai Lu had been a campus celebrity; nearly every student had heard of her. Lü Wei had even once compared herself to Bai Lu and was mercilessly mocked by classmates.
“Senior, back then my biggest dream was to be your backup!” Zhou Yang joked.
“*Pfft!*” Bai Lu covered her mouth, laughing: “I didn’t have a boyfriend for all those years, a backup is too much!”
“Well, senior, you really kept yourself pure!” Zhou Yang teased with a grin.
But noticing a slight dark circle under Bai Lu’s eyes, he asked, “Senior, did you not sleep well last night?”
“Yes, ever since I started working, I often suffer from insomnia,” Bai Lu replied.
Zhou Yang set down the materials and said, “Mind if I check your pulse?”
“You know how to do that?”
“A little, a little!”
“All right!” Bai Lu readily extended her hand.
Zhou Yang took her slender hand, supporting her forearm with one hand, while placing his index and middle fingers gently on her delicate wrist.
After a moment, he said, “Senior, your appetite is poor, you have no interest in anything, difficulty falling asleep, and you wake easily—right?”
Bai Lu looked surprised. “Exactly!”
Zhou Yang continued, “You have a weak spleen and a cold body, with disharmony between heart and kidney. Your under-eye area urgently needs care!”
“How do I treat it?” Bai Lu asked.
“Let me take a look at your eyes,” Zhou Yang said, leaning in to observe her pupils closely.
So close, they could clearly feel each other’s breath. The atmosphere suddenly felt strange, and Bai Lu’s cheeks flushed faintly.
“Senior, you need a course of herbal medicine along with acupressure therapy,” Zhou Yang said earnestly.
“Oh? You know all this?” Bai Lu inquired.
“Yes, my family has been practicing traditional Chinese medicine for generations,” Zhou Yang replied. “When I have time, I’ll give you a proper checkup. Today’s a bit inconvenient.”
Having been out collecting materials for a while, he needed to return to his department soon.
Bai Lu smiled, “All right, I’ll leave it to you then!”

“No trouble at all!” Zhou Yang smiled back.
Strangely, on the way back, neither spoke. It was as if the connection suddenly cut off.
At the department entrance, Bai Lu handed over all the materials to Zhou Yang. They parted ways, heading in opposite directions, but almost simultaneously, they both turned back.
“You...” “You...” They were surprised the other had turned around too. The moment was awkward yet charged with subtle tension.
“You go first!” Bai Lu blushed.
“Senior, I want to add you on WeChat!” Zhou Yang hastily explained, “Don’t get the wrong idea—I just want to show it off to my roommate.”
“Of course!” Bai Lu stepped forward, scanning Zhou Yang’s QR code to add him.
“Senior, what did you want to see me for after all?” Zhou Yang asked.
“Isn’t it done?” Bai Lu smiled playfully, waving her phone and then trotting away.
Turns out, she had turned back just to add him on WeChat.
Zhou Yang’s heart stirred. The campus queen Bai Lu taking the initiative to add him—could she have feelings for him?
But thinking it through, he realized her real intention was probably to have him treat her.
This was the second time Zhou Yang had given someone medical advice. His family forbade practicing medicine professionally, by ancestral decree. But helping friends with health adjustments for free wasn’t really practicing.
He reasoned this as he walked into the office.
The day flew by. At 5:30 p.m., Zhou Yang returned home from work.
As he entered, a sumptuous feast was already laid out on the dining table. Tang Yumei sat on the sofa nearby, smiling warmly at him.
“First day at headquarters? How do you feel?” Tang Yumei asked.
She wore a fitted long dress with a slit at the side, reminiscent of a cheongsam, showcasing her perfect figure and elegant demeanor.
“Not bad!” Zhou Yang said, changing into slippers. “Mei Jie, did you cook all this?”
“No way, I hired a five-star chef to cook at home,” Tang Yumei replied.
“What’s the occasion?” Zhou Yang asked.
“To celebrate our move to the new house!” Tang Yumei stood to open a bottle of red wine, pouring it into a decanter. “And congratulations on joining the EPS headquarters.”
“Thank you, Mei Jie!” Zhou Yang smiled brightly.
Yet he still hadn’t figured out how exactly he got into EPS headquarters.
Suddenly, a thought popped into his mind—could Mei Jie have pulled some strings to get me in?
