Chapter 34: Found a Match for You

For Jingjiang University’s anniversary celebration, Jiang Mian deliberately entered through a side gate on the opposite end of campus, mainly because she did not want to run into Jiang Zhixuan and Wen Yan.
But, deep down, she did not particularly want to encounter Wen Jinhua either.
Sometimes, the very thing one dreaded came to pass. She had not walked far onto the campus when she spotted Wen Jinhua surrounded by a group of university officials.
He was a renowned entrepreneur, an outstanding graduate of Jingjiang University, and a benefactor who donated every year to establish scholarships.
Such treatment was only natural.
Jiang Mian watched from a distance, somewhat absentmindedly, and simply stopped by the roadside.
His black suit accentuated his aura, giving him an air that seemed to warn strangers away.
His sapphire-blue tie added a touch of distinction.
Jiang Mian lowered her eyes. Whatever had come to mind, she suddenly changed direction and prepared to walk the other way.
Wen Jinhua’s gaze shifted over, and he saw Jiang Mian standing alone by the roadside.
She wore a long, gauzy dress streaked with grass green. The hem rippled gently in the breeze, revealing her fair ankles.
His eyes narrowed slightly. When she turned and walked away, her pinned-up hair exposed the full length of her neck, elegant and graceful.
She looked like a dance student.
Then again, he had heard that Jiang Mian had indeed studied dance in the past.
When one of the university officials accompanying him noticed his pace slow, he followed Wen Jinhua’s gaze.
People came and went along the path, none of them knowing whom Wen Jinhua was actually looking at.
“Mr. Wen, is something wrong?”
Wen Jinhua withdrew his gaze, a smile slowly curving at the corners of his lips. Looking ahead, he said, “Nothing. Weren’t we going to see the newly built multimedia classrooms?”
“Yes, this way.” The university official smiled and continued leading him, returning to the subject they had been discussing.
The donations Wen Jinhua made to the university were used primarily for educational development.
Laboratories needed by some of the less popular majors, which had once been poorly equipped, were gradually completed with Wen Jinhua’s investment. They had brought considerable convenience to the university’s teaching programs.
As a result, more students had begun applying for those previously unpopular fields of study.
Jingjiang University’s educational philosophy was to encourage every student to develop boldly in the field that interested them, rather than focusing solely on their future employment prospects.
Among the outstanding students in those majors, some were recruited by the Wen Corporation upon graduation.
He invested in the university and received returns from it in turn.
In short, he lost nothing.
Because it was the university anniversary, the school had organized numerous student activities, including a food festival arranged by the students themselves.

Along the campus food street, students set up their own stalls and sold homemade dishes at low prices. In reality, it was also a way for them to socialize.
After visiting Teacher Chen in the academic building, Jiang Mian symbolically signed her name on the display board for outstanding graduates before wandering alone around campus.
It was rare for her to have a day off because of the anniversary celebration, and she had no desire to discuss work. She bought a cup of milk tea and sat down on a bench beside the lake.
Some students were flying drones nearby. She turned her head to watch, feeling a little envious.
Her student days had already grown distant. The past was something one could never experience again.
Just as no one could possess both youth and an understanding of youth at the same time.
When she thought back on university, Jiang Mian remembered only the design drafts she had drawn day and night.
Sometimes she would stay up late sketching in the dormitory, while the roommate across from her would tease her.
“Your family is already so rich. Why are you still working this hard?”
Others did not know her circumstances, but she herself understood them well enough.
Back then, her parents had still hoped that she would inherit the family business.
At the thought, Jiang Mian tugged at the corner of her lips in a faint smile. With a touch of coldness, she suppressed the unwillingness in her eyes and lowered her head to bite the straw.
When Jiang Zhixuan came over, pulling Wen Yan along with her, Jiang Mian happened to be getting up to throw away her empty milk-tea cup.
The moment she raised her eyes, she met Jiang Zhixuan’s provocative stare.
To be honest, Jiang Zhixuan was a terrible actress.
Jiang Mian could not understand why, now that this woman had the life she wanted, she still insisted on stepping on her from time to time.
Did it make her feel more accomplished?
“Big sister, why are you here all by yourself?”
Jiang Mian looked up. Jiang Zhixuan was holding Wen Yan’s hand and, with deliberate emphasis, changed their ordinary clasp into an interlocking grip.
Before Jiang Mian could say anything, Wen Yan frowned and began reproaching her.
“Jiang Mian, fine, you blocked me, but Zhixuan is your sister. How could you block her too?”
He spoke with righteous indignation, like a knight confronting a monster.
Jiang Mian could not help frowning. She glanced at the two of them. Wen Yan’s expression was solemn, while Jiang Zhixuan wore a smile.
She was practically one step away from acting like a lovestruck little bird.
“Whether I block her or not, what does it have to do with you?”
Wen Yan glared at her in anger. He opened his mouth, but for a moment could not think of what to say.
Only after a while did he speak again, staring at Jiang Mian, who stood before him with undisguised disgust.
“Zhixuan is your family!”

“She may not think so. And do you really believe you’re being righteous?”
Jiang Mian thought Wen Yan ought to have his head examined.
He had already been engaged, yet had fallen in love with the younger sister of his fiancée. However one looked at it, it was a betrayal of morality.
She was the one who had been betrayed. How had these two somehow become the aggrieved parties instead?
If she had lacked even the slightest bit of intelligence, their manipulations might have tangled her up completely. But unfortunately for them, she did not care about that engagement. She was not so foolish as to be utterly witless.
Jiang Mian turned and wanted to put some distance between herself and the two of them.
Jiang Zhixuan released Wen Yan’s hand and hurried several steps forward, blocking Jiang Mian’s path.
“Big sister, why are you in such a hurry?”
“Move.”
Jiang Mian did not want to resort to force, but Jiang Zhixuan clearly had no intention of letting her leave so easily.
“Big sister, we’re family, after all. Dad said that since I’m already engaged, your marriage should be settled soon too. Otherwise, how could the younger sister marry before the elder one?”
“So Dad has found someone for you. If you have time, why don’t you go home this weekend and meet him?”
A buzzing sound seemed to erupt in Jiang Mian’s head. She stared at Jiang Zhixuan in disbelief.
“He thinks he has the right to meddle in my affairs?”
He had arranged a marriage for her without her consent?
Jiang Zhouyi must have gone mad with greed. Was he really determined to squeeze every last bit of value out of her?
“What kind of thing is that to say? Uncle Jiang is only doing what’s best for you!” Wen Yan stepped forward to shield Jiang Zhixuan, afraid that Jiang Mian might lose her temper and suddenly hit her.
Jiang Mian was so angry that she laughed. A cold smile tugged at her lips as, for once, she failed to restrain her emotions and swept Wen Yan with a frigid glance.
“Ever since we were children, I’ve thought there was something missing in your head. Now I see that it isn’t merely a missing piece—you simply never developed properly!”
With that, she raised a hand, shoved Wen Yan aside, and strode away.
A moment later, Wen Yan finally reacted. He raised his hand and pointed at her retreating figure.
“Jiang Mian, what exactly do you mean?”
She had actually called him brainless!
He was the eldest young master of the Wen family. When had he ever endured such humiliation?
