“I’ll remember that.”
After saying this, the beautiful young woman left without looking back.
Wang Chu and Chuxue continued choosing clothes inside the shop.
After buying Chuxue several beautiful outfits, they finally left and began wandering through the marketplace.
During that time, Wang Chu took Chuxue around to sample all kinds of snacks and delicacies, and bought her some jewelry and rouge as well.
At that moment, Chuxue was nothing more than an inexperienced young girl visiting a marketplace for the first time.
For the time being, she had forgotten her former identity and even the fact that her life was nearing its end.
All she remembered was what she was eating and what she was wearing.
Before long, evening arrived. The time for Fairy Fan’s sermon at Drunken Heaven Tower was drawing near.
Wang Chu led Chuxue into Drunken Heaven Tower, intending to find a seat where they could rest while waiting for the sermon to begin.
By the time they entered, Drunken Heaven Tower was already packed to the brim.
Clearly, Wang Chu and Chuxue were not the only ones who had come to admire Fairy Fan’s beauty and listen to her celestial music.
Many young disciples from the great powers surrounding Ling City, as well as numerous formidable cultivators who had come to the city because of the First Prince, had already secured excellent seats from which to hear the music, waiting for Fairy Fan to take the stage.
Holding Chuxue’s hand, Wang Chu made his way through the crowd. After considerable squeezing and searching, they finally found a corner where no one was seated.
They had barely taken their seats when two beautiful women approached through the crowd and sat down beside them.
Wang Chu took a closer look and could not help feeling slightly startled.
Wasn’t one of them the Great Rui Princess, who had visited his shop and bought something from him not long ago?
For someone of her stature to forgo a private room and choose a seat in the common area was rather unexpected.
While he was still wondering about it, Jiang Wan, who had just sat down with an expression of distaste, noticed Wang Chu beside her.
Their eyes met at once.
In that instant, the expression that appeared on Jiang Wan’s face was almost identical to Wang Chu’s. She too was slightly surprised that she had encountered him here.
“What are you doing here?”
After a brief silent exchange of glances, Jiang Wan spoke first.
Wang Chu replied, “Naturally, I came to hear Fairy Fan sing. Miss Su, you came to listen as well, didn’t you?”
Jiang Wan concealed her surprise and shifted her gaze to Chuxue beside him.
“Yes. I heard that Fairy Fan’s singing is beautiful, so I came to see for myself. Is the young lady sitting beside you a friend of yours, Young Master Wang?”
Wang Chu nodded.
“Yes.”
He then looked at Si Bingyan beside Jiang Wan.
“And is this Miss Su’s friend?”
Jiang Wan nodded as well.
“Yes.”
With that, both Wang Chu and Jiang Wan fell silent for a while.
Afterward, Wang Chu asked, “Is this your first time hearing Fairy Fan sing, Miss Su?”
Jiang Wan answered with a smile, “No. I was fortunate enough to hear her once before.”
Wang Chu nodded, then asked, “What did you think of her performance?”
Jiang Wan considered the question before replying, “It was wonderful. Fairy Fan’s voice is ethereal and extraordinarily soothing. It can even aid one’s cultivation.”
Wang Chu feigned astonishment.
“Is it truly that miraculous?”
“You’ll know once you hear her,” Jiang Wan said. “I’m not exaggerating. The disciples who emerge from the Music Sect are truly unrivaled in the art of music. Otherwise, they would never have become so famous across the continent.”
Chuxue, seated beside Wang Chu, softly agreed, “Indeed. The Music Sect single-handedly created the path of music, transforming the continent’s musical forms and elevating their status. Every disciple who comes from the sect and travels throughout the continent preaching its teachings possesses extraordinary attainments in music.”
Jiang Wan smiled at Chuxue.
“You seem to know quite a lot about the Music Sect. Have you ever visited it?”
Chuxue lowered her head shyly.
“I only learned about it from books.”
Jiang Wan shifted her posture, resting her slender waist against the back of her chair.
“Then you truly are well-read.”
“Hehe, I wouldn’t say that. I simply happened to come across some related material.”
Chuxue’s reply was extremely modest.
Before Jiang Wan could say anything more, a somewhat plump woman stepped onto the stage at the front of the tavern.
She flashed a broad smile and addressed the audience.

“Everyone, please be quiet!”
The moment she spoke, the formerly noisy tavern fell utterly silent.
Expectant expressions appeared on most faces.
The plump woman continued, “Welcome to Drunken Heaven Tower. Without further ado, let us invite Fairy Fan herself onto the stage to demonstrate the sublime wonders of the musical path!”
With that, the woman stepped off the stage. Then an incomparably beautiful young woman appeared in everyone’s sight, walking from below the stage and ascending it.
When she turned around to face the customers below, her stunning yet extraordinarily indifferent features immediately left an indelible impression on everyone present.
After staring blankly for some time, people below the stage began whispering among themselves.
“Wow, no wonder she’s a fairy who emerged from the Music Sect. Her bearing, her appearance—they’re truly flawless.”
“Indeed. I feel that even Senior Sister Lu of our Azure Lotus Sect can’t compare with Fairy Fan. She falls far short.”
“Suddenly, Junior Sister Zhou doesn’t seem nearly as beautiful as before.”
“Hmph, she’s nothing special. She is beautiful, certainly, but she doesn’t seem nearly as exaggerated as the rumors claim. ‘One glimpse of Fairy Fan, and a lifetime is ruined’? That’s nothing but hyperbole.”
“Once she starts singing, you won’t think that anymore. I used to feel the same way as you, but after hearing Fairy Fan sing, I admit that my heart can no longer make room for a second woman besides her.”
“What about Fairy Nangong?”
“That one can be considered.”
…
Amid the lively discussion, Chuxue was the most astonished of all.
She had realized that the woman standing on the stage was none other than the beautiful young woman she and Wang Chu had encountered earlier in the clothing shop.
Could she truly be the renowned Fairy Fan whose name was known throughout the world?
Chuxue turned toward Wang Chu, intending to tell him, but he spoke first.
“I never would have guessed that the young woman I encountered in the shop was actually Fairy Fan.”
The instant he said this, countless eyes turned toward them.
Most of those gazes held disdain and suspicion.
“Heh, this fellow certainly knows how to boast. So he just happened to encounter Fairy Fan on the street, did he? Why doesn’t he go to the Ancient Beauty Bookshop and write fan fiction instead?”
“If he’s met Fairy Fan, then I’m her chosen companion!”
“Where is this fellow from? If he dares spread such rumors, he’d better watch out. Fairy Fan’s fanatical followers may come looking for trouble.”
