Chapter 34: House Hunting

Lin Chen gave a wry smile and said, "Sister Xixi, please don't be so good to me. If you keep this up, I'll want to slap myself silly if I ever accidentally make you cry."

On the other end, Su Xiran let out a giggle and said happily, "That would be even better. If you dare to make me cry, you'll have to slap yourself, so you'll always have to find ways to keep me happy. Tee-hee."

Just then, the sound of someone urging Su Xiran to prepare for work came through the phone.

Lin Chen frowned and said, "Sister Xixi, it's almost 8:00 PM. Why are you still working? Please don't overwork yourself; you need to make sure you get some rest."

Su Xiran’s voice turned gentle. "Alright, alright, there’s nothing tiring about being a model. I have to go now, I need to get to work. Remember not to stay up too late; it’s not good for your health."

Lin Chen was just about to tell her that he had quite a bit of money on him and wanted to pay her back, but the line had already gone dead. He rubbed his hair, realizing that he owed Su Xiran more and more with each passing day.

The hardest debt to repay is the kindness of a beautiful woman, and he didn't know how he could ever make it up to her. He thought about how she once said she wanted to own a flower shop, and he vowed that, no matter what, he would make that dream of hers come true.

The next morning.

After the two finished washing up, Lin Chen took Bai Lan out for breakfast before heading off to look for a place to live.

Armed with the information he had noted down the night before, Lin Chen called the landlords one by one to schedule viewings. However, he wasn't satisfied with any of the places he had seen so far.

Arriving in front of another rental property, Lin Chen checked the house number.

"Yes, this is the right place."

With that, he began to knock on the door.

He hadn't been able to get through to this landlord on the phone earlier, so he wasn't sure if they were home, but since it was close to the last place he had visited, he decided to drop by and check it out anyway.

A moment later, the door opened, and a familiar, beautiful face appeared before him.

Before he could speak, the woman looked surprised. "Oh, it's you! What are you doing here?"

Lin Chen recognized her instantly; after all, beautiful women always leave a deep impression, especially such a stunner.

She was the elegant and beautiful young woman, the mother of the two little girls he had encountered while practicing his martial arts the day before yesterday.

Lin Chen smiled. "Hello, it's a pleasure to see you again. I saw online that there was a room for rent here. Are you the landlord?"

Hearing this, the woman’s expression became somewhat awkward for no apparent reason, as if she had something to say but felt embarrassed. Finally, she said, "I am not the landlord. I am looking for someone to share the apartment with, but I’m afraid I don't rent to men. I am so sorry. It's my fault—I forgot to mention that when I posted the ad online."

Hearing her answer, Lin Chen felt a bit disappointed. He had taken a quick look around and quite liked the environment; it was nice and very quiet.

However, it was perfectly normal for a woman looking for a roommate to request another woman. With that thought, Lin Chen could only say, "No problem. I understand. Sorry to have bothered you; we'll leave now."

Just as he turned to take Bai Lan away, a little girl in a red dress ran out from the house. It was one of the two girls he had seen the day before, though he wasn't sure if it was the lively Keke or the shy Mengmeng.
