Chapter 5: Reaching Out to Her New Father

Su Qianxue was thoroughly enraged. Back then, the Chen family sought to align themselves with the Su family’s powerful influence, which led to the arranged marriage between the two families. Over the years, the Su family had indeed taken good care of the Chen family.
In fact, without the Su family, the Chen family would not be what it is today.
“Chen Xing, do you even realize that with just one word from me, I could drag your Chen family into the abyss?”
“I’m giving you one last chance. Come over here and apologize. I might forgive you this time, considering how hard you’ve worked for the Su family all these years. Otherwise…”
“Su Qianxue!”
Before she could finish, Chen Xing cut her off coldly, “Don’t use the Chen family to threaten me. I’ve done more than enough for them over the years. I don’t owe them anything.”
“If you want to drag the Chen family into the abyss, then go ahead.”
With that, Chen Xing hung up.
“Chen Xing, you bastard!”
Su Qianxue’s hysterical roar echoed through the office.
...
Chen Xing settled back into his car.
He released the handbrake, shifted into drive, and pressed the accelerator to the floor.
The car surged forward like a wild stallion breaking free or an arrow shot from a bow, swiftly merging into the flow of traffic.
At the same time, a red Maserati quietly followed behind.
Chen Xing’s speed was blistering.
In the blink of an eye, the speedometer soared to 140 kilometers per hour and kept climbing.
The scenery on both sides of the road blurred as the black Land Rover became a dark whirlwind.
Inside, Chen Xing’s expression was impassive, his eyes bright as they fixed on the road ahead. Adrenaline surged through him, peaking with the increasing speed.
It had been a long time since he had driven this fast.
In this moment, he vaguely felt a flicker of the sensation from his youth.
“Whoa, who the heck is that? That car’s practically flying!”
“Damn, did you see that drift? That was insanely cool.”
Inside a car that Chen Xing had just overtaken, a group of wealthy young people were howling at the Land Rover’s taillights.
Among them, a girl with blonde hair and a nose ring trembled with excitement, screaming, “Check, check it out! Who’s driving that Land Rover? I haven’t seen anyone this cool in years!”
“I want to race him.”
At that moment, a voice came through their wireless earbuds, “No need to check. That license plate is too recognizable. That’s the Chen family’s eldest son, Chen Yu.”

“Chen Mo?”
“Damn, since when did Chen Mo’s driving skills get this good? When we raced at Mount Akina before, he wasn’t this fast!”
“Damn it, this kid’s been hiding his talent.”
“…”
The black Land Rover sped along the winding mountain road, twisting and turning. Only a red Maserati was able to barely keep sight of the taillights ahead.
Inside the red Maserati, a woman in a red trench coat and black sunglasses, the stunning and dangerously alluring Li Moyan, slowly curled a smile at the corner of her mouth.
Her golden waves of hair fluttered in the wind, a lock of which she held between her lips.
She exuded an indescribable seductive charm.
At this moment, her eyes shone with excitement.
The Chen Xing she knew had returned.
Back in the day, Chen Xing was hailed as a prodigy—a twelve-year-old admitted to the university’s youth class, winning the Fermat International Mathematics Competition gold medal four years in a row.
At eighteen, he earned an international top-tier FIA racing license.
For three consecutive years, he participated in the Bayinbuluke World Rally Championship and achieved remarkable results.
Before turning twenty-two, Chen Xing’s life was brilliant, surrounded by countless flowers and applause.
Yet, at twenty-three, just as he was preparing to pursue a doctoral degree abroad, he unexpectedly chose to marry into the Su family.
He abandoned his studies and career entirely, dedicating himself to a domestic life focused on his wife and children.
From then on, he vanished from the public eye.
A rising star quietly fell.
Screech!
The tires screamed against the pavement as white smoke rose. The Land Rover suddenly pulled over to the roadside.
Li Moyan’s Maserati brushed past and parked just ahead of the Land Rover.
Why did he stop so abruptly?
Li Moyan also pulled her car to the side.
The cars sat nose to nose.
Inside the Land Rover, Chen Xing’s phone rang.
“Hello, Mr. Chen? This is Ms. Sun, the head teacher from Huanhuan Kindergarten,” came a sweet, gentle voice.
Chen Xing recognized Teacher Sun.
“Hello, Teacher Sun. What’s the matter?”

“Mr. Chen, I’m glad I reached you. This morning, your eldest daughter Huanhuan brought a pack of honey bread to school and shared it with her classmates. Unfortunately, many of them have food poisoning—vomiting and diarrhea. Now the parents have all come looking for answers.”
Honey bread?
Chen Xing recalled seeing Huanhuan carrying a paper bag breakfast this morning when he dropped Yaya off at school.
If he wasn’t mistaken, it must have been prepared by Liang Zhixin.
“Teacher Sun, here’s the situation. I’m already divorced from Huanhuan’s mother. Huanhuan is under her care, so I have no authority over what happens at school. You should call her mother, or perhaps contact her new father.”
“Ah???”
On the other end, Huanhuan’s teacher Sun Fei was stunned, clearly not expecting that response.
But under these circumstances, even if divorced, parents still have an obligation to handle their child’s affairs!
“Well, Mr. Chen, Huanhuan said the honey cake was prepared by you, so if there’s a problem, you should be responsible.”
At the same time, angry shouting erupted from the other line.
“I’m telling you, Teacher Sun, have you contacted the child’s parents? My kid’s almost dehydrated. Someone needs to take responsibility!”
“Yeah, yeah, the parents are so irresponsible. How can kids bring junk food to kindergarten?”
“Teacher Sun, get the parents here immediately or I’m calling the police!”
Teacher Sun tried her best to calm the angry voices.
“Mr. Chen, as you see, this situation is very complicated. If the parents don’t step up, I can’t resolve this!”
Chen Xing frowned, hesitated a moment, then said, “Teacher Sun, please pass the phone to my youngest daughter, Yaya.”
“All right.”
The next second, a childish voice came through the phone, “Daddy.”
Chen Xing softened his voice, “Yaya, did you eat the honey bread your sister gave you?”
“No. Sister said that was prepared by Daddy Liang and was meant for the kids at kindergarten. She told me not to eat it.” Yaya’s tone carried a hint of grievance.
Chen Xing breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as Yaya was safe, that was what mattered.
“How is Huanhuan now?”
“Huanhuan is crying.”
