Volume One, Chapter 51: Has That Blind Sixth Brother of Yours Regretted It?
Lu Ning heard his voice but had no desire to answer him.
The instance began, and Lu Ning joined her teammates in fighting the monsters.
But Lu Liu stayed by her side the entire time, repeatedly asking, “What exactly do you mean? Are you dissatisfied with the terms our company offered? What more do you want?”
Lu Liu was growing anxious.
If they could not recruit a suitable player, what would they do about the finals at the end of the month?
Lu Ning frowned. Did Sixth Brother not realize there were other people on the team?
Wasn’t he afraid someone would hear him speaking like that?
Soon, a man’s voice came from the team channel. “Well, well, isn’t this the captain of the Lu Tian team? If you’re trying to recruit someone, you should at least have some manners!”
“Exactly. With that attitude, anyone who didn’t know better would think he was burying someone instead of recruiting them.”
“Miss Lemon, why don’t you join the Qiu Qiu team? The pay and reputation over there are both pretty good.”
The moment Lu Liu heard the words “Qiu Qiu team,” he flew into a rage. “She’s not allowed to go!”
She could not join the Qiu Qiu team!
He had maintained a perfectly good attitude all along.
That was, until he discovered today that Sweet Little Lemon might actually be Lu Ning.
His state of mind had completely fallen apart.
“Captain Lu, don’t you think you’re being a little too overbearing? Miss Lemon can join whichever team she wants.”
“Exactly. Do you own the whole coastline or something? Why are you sticking your nose into everything?”
Lu Liu was instantly furious. “What does it have to do with any of you?”
This streamer might be his younger sister. He could speak to her however he pleased. Outsiders had no right to interfere.
At that point, Lu Ning spoke helplessly. “Stop arguing. The boss is coming.”
“Sure thing, Miss. We’ll listen to you.”
“Let’s give Miss Lemon some respect. We may just be ordinary players, but we believe in speaking honestly, and we’re not afraid of those rich second-generation heirs.”
Lu Ning said nothing more and led her teammates in taking down the boss.
Lu Liu, however, seemed angry. He stopped following the team and tried to show off by fighting the boss alone. In the end, the monster slapped him to death.
When the people in the team saw Lu Liu die, they took the opportunity to make a few sarcastic remarks.
Lu Liu glared furiously at the screen, which had turned black and white. “Damn it!”
His assistant came over. “What’s wrong, boss? Did that streamer refuse to join us?”
Lu Liu rubbed his temples. “It’s not about whether she’s willing to join anymore.”
If this streamer really was Lu Ning…
He himself had no idea what he should do!
He recalled Lu Ning’s performances during her livestreams over the past few days. She was skilled, powerful, and thoroughly familiar with the game.
She played as though she had undergone professional training.
A trace of doubt appeared in Lu Liu’s eyes. He remembered that Lu Ning had never received any professional training. How strange.

So this streamer could not possibly be Lu Ning!
If she really was Lu Ning, then wouldn’t everything he had said before become a laughingstock?
Lu Liu actually found himself somewhat afraid to face the truth.
He said to his secretary, “Find someone else suitable.”
“We’re giving up on recruiting this streamer?”
“I said to do it, so do it! I refuse to believe that there isn’t anyone else in this world besides her.”
Anger simmered in Lu Liu’s heart.
The more he saw how formidable this streamer was, the more complicated his feelings became.
If this streamer truly was Lu Ning, had that girl deliberately toyed with him just to mock him?
After Lu Ning finished the instance, she discovered that Sixth Brother had already logged off.
Perhaps he had logged off because he felt humiliated?
Lu Ning knew Sixth Brother fairly well. He had always cared deeply about his reputation.
Had she just slapped him hard across the face in the one place he valued most?
But Lu Ning did not dwell on it.
After finishing the instance, she felt somewhat tired. She left the study and went to pour herself some water.
She saw Ji Chiqian sitting on the sofa. “When did you get back?”
Ji Chiqian had been reclining on the sofa with his eyes half-closed. Hearing her footsteps, he slowly opened his eyes. “Just now. Did you go to school today?”
He noticed the book on the coffee table. It was for filling out her university preferences.
Lu Ning nodded. “I went to pick up some information.”
“Little Lemon, your livestreams have become so popular. Your Sixth Brother must know by now, right? Does he regret losing such an amazing sister?”
Gu Zifeng emerged from the bathroom wearing a loosely tied bathrobe, his hair still wet.
Ji Chiqian’s expression darkened. “Go back to your room, put on proper clothes, and then come out!”
“Come on, I was just so excited that I forgot.”
Gu Zifeng immediately went back to his room to change. Tsk, who would have thought this guy was such a jealous man? He was already dressed so conservatively!
Lu Ning went to the kitchen and cut up several plates of fruit. It was obvious that Ji Chiqian was tired.
Ji Chiqian glanced at the fruit. “Have you decided which platform you’re going to sign with?”
“I think I’ll pass. I looked over the Dou Xia contract, and it requires me to stream for a set number of hours every day. Once school starts, I won’t have that much time to livestream, so it would be too restrictive.”
Besides, even if she did not sign a contract, the platform could still settle her earnings.
She simply would not receive the platform’s promotional traffic and support.
Gu Zifeng came out after changing his clothes. “That’s easy. Just negotiate with Dou Xia. They’ll definitely agree to your terms.”
Lu Ning looked surprised. “Why? I heard all of Dou Xia’s contracts are the same, and they rarely modify them for newcomers.”
Unless the person was some sort of legendary star.
Gu Zifeng coughed. “You can always ask. What if they agree? You’re so talented, and the platform isn’t stupid. They can make money from you.”

Lu Ning had the distinct feeling that Gu Zifeng was joking.
Perhaps Gu Zifeng could use his connections to help her, but she did not want to owe him anything.
Lu Ning shook her head. “Forget it. I’ve earned quite a bit these past few days. Once school starts, it should be enough to cover my tuition and living expenses.”
As he ate fruit, Gu Zifeng said, “What about your blind Sixth Brother? I refuse to believe he couldn’t recognize your voice!”
Ji Chiqian shot him a cold look. “Can’t eating stop you from talking?”
Lu Ning smiled. “I ran into him at school today, but I didn’t admit anything. He doesn’t dare be certain either.”
“He’s feeling guilty. Little Lemon, listen to me—show your face on tonight’s livestream and scare him half to death! Make him regret everything!”
Lu Ning shook her head. “There’s no need. I just want to stay away from them.”
She would not let them interfere with her life.
Gu Zifeng was about to say something else, but Ji Chiqian stopped him with a glance.
After Lu Ning left, Gu Zifeng lowered his voice. “Why wouldn’t you let me give her advice and help her vent her anger?”
“If you want to help her vent her anger, she doesn’t need to do it herself.”
Ji Chiqian had already made a plan.
—
Half an hour before the evening livestream began.
As soon as Lu Ning went online, a large number of viewers were already waiting in her stream.
Qin Xiang was there too. When she saw that Lu Ning’s followers had reached three hundred thousand, jealousy bubbled up inside her.
So what if she was merely a little better at playing games?
How had she managed to gain so many followers?
Qin Xiang glanced at Lu Liu beside her. “Sixth Brother, what are you planning to do now?”
Lu Liu stared coldly at the livestream. “I’ll decide after watching it.”
Qin Xiang clenched her teeth in secret.
The Dou Xia platform had deliberately promoted Lu Ning’s livestream on its homepage, sending a tremendous wave of traffic her way.
Many viewers came because they had heard of her.
[Miss Lemon, you’re so professional when explaining the game. Were you previously part of a professional team?]
[I heard the captain of the Lu Tian team really wants to recruit you. Which team are you planning to join?]
[That’s right. The captain of the Lu Tian team is still number one on the rankings, and he’s online too.]
Lu Ning naturally saw that the number-one supporter was Sixth Brother.
She spoke calmly. “The Lu Tian team did approach me, but…”
Lu Liu’s heart immediately leaped into his throat.
