Chapter 105: The Moment I Fell in Love, the Whole World Became My Rival in Love (5)
The next day, Bai Yao woke in bed. She opened her eyes to the ceiling and spent ten full minutes hating herself for having no backbone, for falling so easily for his charms.
Fu Huai said, “I’m willing to keep you company. You should be grateful, not regretting it now.”
Bai Yao turned her head. The boy was lying on his side, his dark, almost unnaturally dark eyes fixed on her. She had no idea when he had woken.
He possessed a strange kind of magnetism, one that could stir another person’s desire with effortless ease; as for his own desires, he was never capable of being satisfied.
She asked him, “Don’t you have school?”
Fu Huai lifted a brow. “Classes have been suspended.”
Only then did Bai Yao remember the news about something happening at their school. With an incident that serious, the students probably would not be allowed back until the police had ruled out the danger.
Bai Yao lay flat, her thoughts drifting. A hand moved along her waist beneath the covers, traveling upward.
She slapped it away without mercy. “I don’t want to.”
No one could refuse him. So long as he wished it, those people who pursued him and adored him like fanatics would willingly let him tread upon them. Even humiliation could become honey, as long as they found themselves reflected in his eyes.
But with Bai Yao, he had already met defeat several times.
Bai Yao was nothing like those foolish swine. She never placed him first. She cared only for her own whims; if she wanted to date him, she would ask him out, and if she no longer wanted to, she could just as easily ask for a breakup.
Fu Huai withdrew his hand in displeasure and sneered, “I’m right beside you, and yet you don’t know how to pour all your desire onto me. How ignorant.”
Yes, exactly that feeling.
As though the whole world were made up of idiots, and only he was smart.
Since she did not want to, he let it go. After all, the one who liked that bodily pleasure was not him.
Fu Huai propped his head on one hand and looked at her with haughty indifference. “Go make breakfast.”
Bai Yao remained where she was. “I’m not hungry.”
“I am.”
“Then go make something yourself. What does that have to do with me?”
Fu Huai pressed his lips together. In those pitch-black eyes, malice seemed to gather without concealment, and the expression on his beautiful face turned unpleasant.
The more Bai Yao had indulged him before, the more perfunctory she was with him now.
For a poor couple, every little thing becomes misery.
Bai Yao could not be bothered to pay him any mind. She closed her eyes and drifted back into sleep.
Making Fu Huai cook was impossible. Angrily, he lay flat on the bed and copied her, closing his eyes too.
They would see who could outlast the other.
Bai Yao slept in until nearly eleven. Yesterday’s clothes could no longer be worn, so she took a white dress from the closet and put it on.
Fu Huai sat lazily on the bed, staring at her.
When Bai Yao had finished dressing herself and felt his gaze, she looked back.
Fu Huai straightened and held out his arms to her. The arrogance in his expression suggested that him displaying his perfect body was a great favor to her.
It had always been like this before. After she got dressed, she would turn around and help him with his clothes. Since he disliked going to school, he often lingered in bed, and when she dressed him, she was always in a hurry, yet she never hurt him.
Bai Yao gave him a sidelong glance, opened the bedroom door, and walked out.
Fu Huai screamed, “Bai Yao!”
She turned back, rubbed an ear, and asked carelessly, “What?”
His expression was proud, his tone languid. “Dress me.”
“Don’t you have hands? Can’t you dress yourself?”
A fury flowed through Fu Huai’s eyes, as though venom might spill from the beauty mark beneath it at any moment.
There was no doubt that he was beautiful.
But his beauty had always been laced, without the slightest stinginess, with ugly, malicious desire.
Bai Yao had already expected another round of mockery and ridicule from him, but after only two seconds, he had controlled himself.
Then his gaze softened. In the boy’s clear voice there was a deliberately sweet, syrupy note. “Sister, can you help me get dressed?”
Love and obsession churned in his eyes as he looked at her, as if she had already become the victor who could trample a king beneath her feet.
It was as though their positions had been reversed, and he was the most mindless of her believers.
Bai Yao curled her lip, rummaged through a few items from the bag outside, and tossed them to him. “Dress yourself.”
The sweet little facade Fu Huai had been pretending to wear was torn apart by his own hands. He said with utter disgust, “I won’t wear this trash!”
Bai Yao said, “Then there’s nothing I can do. I only have the clothes you left here before.”
He said, “Go buy me new ones.”
Bai Yao replied, “No money.”
Fu Huai said sharply, “Bai Yao!”
She kept walking without stopping, leaving the bedroom behind. No matter how furiously the person inside shouted, it did no good.
In the bathroom, Bai Yao brushed her teeth. She was in a good mood. In fact, ever since she had stopped indulging Fu Huai, her mood had been excellent.
Fu Huai ranted about not wearing that trash, but his clothes from yesterday were stained just like her dress. He had no other choice. Bai Yao would not buy him new clothes, so whether he liked it or not, he had to wear them.
Disgustedly, Fu Huai tugged at the white shirt on his body and remarked, “A revolting sense of taste.”
Bai Yao reminded him, “You were the one who chose to buy that.”
The shirt had been purchased back when the Bai family had not yet gone bankrupt, when Bai Yao had taken him shopping in luxury boutiques. Fu Huai lived extravagantly; no matter how expensive a garment was, he would wear it only twice at most before discarding it.
Later, when Bai Yao no longer had the means she once did, she could not keep taking him to high-end shops every few days, and only then was he forced to lower himself and wear clothes more than once.
She had just finished brushing her teeth and washing her face and was now applying skincare.
Fu Huai stood behind her. Through the mirror, one glance at those eyes of his, already tinged with mockery, told her exactly what he was about to say.
Bai Yao said, “I’m naturally beautiful. Even if I can’t afford expensive skincare, it won’t diminish my looks.”
He had not even spoken before she had already guessed it. Unwilling, he swallowed the words back and wore a sullen expression.
Bai Yao reminded him, “Hurry up and brush your teeth and wash your face. I ordered takeout; it should be here soon.”
On the sink sat a pair of matching cups. In the blue cup was a pink electric toothbrush, Bai Yao’s. In the pink cup was a blue ordinary toothbrush, which of course belonged to him.
