Qi Fei sneered slightly. He was almost thirty, yet only his parents still treated him like a child. He couldn’t help but glance at Qi Ye, his cousin, toward whom he felt no fondness. Then his eyes fell on Bai Yao, and a look of admiration surfaced in them.

Qi Fei felt a bit parched and muttered quietly, “That guy’s really lucky, to find such a beautiful wife.”

Qi Da shot his son a sharp look. “This isn’t home; don’t you dare cause trouble.”

Beside him, Jia Ren pushed her husband irritably. “Why are you so harsh on our son? He was only joking.”

Qi Da didn’t want to argue here and warned his son once more before falling silent.

Qi Fei was unfazed. His phone had lost its appeal; his eyes kept drifting toward Bai Yao, finding her not only stunning but also well-figured—far better than any woman he’d been with before.

Suddenly, a chill crept down his spine, as if he were being watched by a wild beast. Yet when he looked back, no one seemed to be staring. Perhaps it was just his imagination.

Within a short hour, Bai Yao had roughly gauged the personalities of the Qi siblings. The eldest uncle’s family appeared close-knit and friendly, while the youngest uncle’s family kept to themselves, engrossed in their phones. Only the young aunt would occasionally chime in when mentioned.

Their aunt was warm and generous, talking incessantly once she opened her mouth.

As dusk settled, though dinner was still some time away, the group chatted for a while before Steward He led Bai Yao and Qi Ye upstairs to a room for some rest.

Walking down the corridor, Steward He encountered a graceful woman stepping around the corner. He lowered his eyes respectfully. “Miss.”

Qi Xingyun crossed her arms, eyes sharp and a touch cruel. She had always looked down on the steward. She said, “That Bai Yao girl is young and not easily manipulated. She truly is Qi Ye’s own pursuit, not some pawn Qi Yuan deliberately found to support Qi Ye, right?”

Steward He replied, “I’m not clear on that matter. If you want answers, you can ask the second young master yourself.”

Qi Xingyun’s temper flared. “Do you think I’m an idiot? If I ask him, do you think he’ll tell me the truth?”

Steward He nodded calmly. “Your reasoning is sound, Miss.”

Qi Xingyun felt like she’d been punching cotton. Irritated, she asked, “Does Father still refuse to see me?”

Steward He said, “Master is unwell and needs rest. He doesn’t wish to see anyone before the birthday banquet.”

Qi Xingyun stormed off, the sharp clicks of her high heels echoing like rapid drumbeats, shattering the quiet atmosphere.

Steward He maintained his composure and headed toward the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Inside the warm room, drawing back the curtains revealed a snowy landscape outside. Evening had come early here, and though the light was dim, snowflakes could be seen drifting down.

Bai Yao stood by the window, suddenly musing aloud, “This scene feels like we’ve entered a snowstorm mountain lodge.”

Qi Ye was used to her occasional bursts of seemingly profound yet carefree remarks. He took off his coat and shoes and rolled around on the bed, probably leaving his scent behind. Then he got up and lifted Bai Yao from behind, placing her gently on the bed.

He slipped off her shoes, wrapped her snugly in the quilt, and laid down, pressing her firmly beneath the covers.

Only her head was exposed. She tried to move, but he held her so tightly it was difficult.

After a moment of silence, she asked, “What are you doing?”

Qi Ye’s eyes brightened as he sat up and began undoing his pants zipper.

Bai Yao quickly pulled back her hand. “I didn’t mean that kind of ‘doing’!”

Qi Ye pursed his lips, looking pitiful and innocent, like a dejected puppy.

She reached out her hand, and he leaned in, resting his face in her palm.

She asked, “I’m not ready to sleep yet. Why did you wrap me up like this?”

His cheek brushed her palm, then he took her slightly cold hand from beneath the quilt and pressed it against his firm, strong abdomen. Instantly, her hand warmed.

He had wrapped her in the quilt precisely because she said she was cold.

Bai Yao smiled softly, her eyes curved with affection. She lifted her head and kissed him. “Qi Puppy, your relatives are a handful. In this world, only I would willingly waste my time dealing with them. Want to know why?”

His eyes sparkled.

She lifted her chin proudly. “Because I’m the one who loves you most in the whole world!”

His eyes widened slightly, as if just realizing this earth-shattering secret. His dark eyes glittered like stars, and his exaggerated expression was almost comical.

Bai Yao turned her face sideways. “Bite me.”

Qi Ye lowered his head and nibbled at the flesh on her cheek. Actually, it was more like licking.

Others called him the Silent Little Wolf, but Bai Yao preferred to call him Qi Puppy. After all, he was just like a little dog—biting and licking, always giving her little trinkets he found on the roadside.

At first, it was pinecones, then pretty stones, then wildflowers, and sometimes butterflies or dragonflies. Anything he found interesting became a treasure he presented to Bai Yao.

He was so adorable that Bai Yao found it impossible not to spoil him.

He shifted his licking elsewhere.

Bai Yao wrapped her arms around the head buried in her neck. She absentmindedly stroked his soft black hair and muttered, “It’s getting cold. I need to buy you a new winter wardrobe. We’ll go shopping soon. I also need to get you a couple pairs of shoes. And, oh, your underwear needs replacing too!”

Qi Ye nuzzled her neck. At some point, he had undone her collar and buried his head deeper, humming softly as he enjoyed the moment and responded to her murmurs.

Now, he often had comfortable new clothes, well-fitting shoes, and healthy food—all provided entirely by Bai Yao.

Before heading out each day, he would pull Bai Yao to the wardrobe to pick out his outfit.

Every meal featured dishes he liked.

Every night, he had the girl he loved holding him as he slept.

The wild child who once rolled in sandpits, kicked stray dogs, and bit at wildflowers in bushes was gone.

No—he hadn’t disappeared entirely.

Bai Yao yelped when he bit down too hard for a moment. She had just been thinking about what to buy him next. Snapping back to reality, she pushed his head off her chest in irritation and smacked his head sharply. “Do you think you’re a baby who hasn’t been weaned yet?”

Qi Ye looked at her pitifully, his pink tongue flicking out to lick the moist corner of his lips, clearly still craving more.

Bai Yao wasn’t about to indulge him. She pulled her clothes back in place. Qi Ye bent down, rubbing his face against hers, occasionally making soft, low whimpers.

He truly was like a puppy begging for cuddles.

Bai Yao grew flushed from his affection and couldn’t resist flipping over to pin him beneath her.

He eagerly began peeling off her clothes, his face full of anticipation.

Just as Bai Yao was about to indulge herself, a knock sounded at the door, followed by Steward He’s voice.

“Everyone has arrived. Please come to the dining room for dinner.”

Qi Ye pressed his lips tightly, frowning angrily.

Bai Yao whispered something sweet in his ear, coaxing him.

His eyes suddenly shone brightly, as if he wanted to prick up nonexistent ears, his tail wagging in delight.

Too adorable!

Bai Yao couldn’t help herself and kissed him deeply.
