Lord Beitang could not stand Bai Yao’s arrogant demeanor. He was about to speak up and put her in her place, but Bai Yao had already bypassed him.

She approached Su Youyou in a friendly manner, gently pulling her forward. “Su Youyou, do you feel I was impolite in any way?” she asked kindly.

Su Youyou shook her head quickly. “No, not at all.”

Bai Yao smiled again. “Then I hope, in the future, if a boy stands up for you and misunderstands me, you’ll help clear things up. Otherwise, if I’m wrongly accused and suffer undeserved grievances, I’ll be very sad, very upset. And when I’m sad and upset, I just can’t control myself, you know? I’m super rich.”

Su Youyou caught the threat beneath Bai Yao’s words, and her hand trembled.

Before Lord Beitang could come to Su Youyou’s rescue, Bai Yao had already let go of her hand.

Bai Yao extended her hand, and He Cai immediately produced a tissue. Bai Yao wiped her hand, her beautiful face radiant with a generous smile. “Lord Beitang, you heard it. Su Youyou thinks I’m very polite. Next time, please get your facts straight before standing up for someone, so you don’t wrong an innocent person. No need to apologize to me—I’m magnanimous, I won’t hold it against you.”

She turned to leave, tossing the tissue perfectly into the trash can. He Cai hurried after her.

Lord Beitang stared after Bai Yao’s departing figure, speechless for a long time.

Though he’d met many girls, he had to admit that Bai Yao was the most brazen, arrogant, and disdainful of them all.

When Bai Yao entered the classroom for her lesson, she was greeted by a group of friends, all offering congratulations on her move. Someone suggested she throw a party to celebrate her new home.

“My place isn’t fully tidied up yet,” Bai Yao said. “Once it’s all set, I’ll invite you over.”

The others eagerly agreed.

Bai Yao was always generous, spending lavishly. If she hosted a party, the drinks and food would be top-notch. More importantly, most of the school’s notable figures would be willing to attend for her sake. Who knew? They might even meet some handsome guys at the party.

He Cai placed a stack of numbered pink envelopes on Bai Yao’s desk. “Yao Yao, these are the love letters left in your drawer today. Since there wasn’t enough space, a few ended up in my drawer. Judging by the handwriting, the photos, and the embedded diamonds, I think you should open numbers one through four.”

Bai Yao’s seat was fixed during class, and her schedule had long been leaked by her classmates. So nearly every day, her drawer was stuffed with confession letters from boys.

No matter her temperament, she was undeniably wealthy and beautiful. Anyone who could win her over would never need to struggle after graduation. Honestly, for a top-tier beauty like her, there was never a lack of suitors.

Bai Yao took out a limited-edition lipstick and said, moved, “Cai Cai, you sort through all these letters for me every day. You work so hard. You’re truly my best friend.”

He Cai was also touched, accepting the lipstick with emotion. “It’s my honor to do things for you, Yao Yao. We’re best friends, after all! No need for thanks!”

But Bai Yao immediately glanced at her nails, considering when to get a manicure, and said, “You don’t need to show me these letters. I’m not interested.”

He Cai was puzzled. “Why?”

Previously, Bai Yao would always look at the letters, only opening those with beautiful handwriting, diamond embellishments, and handsome photos. She said she was searching for her destined soulmate among them—the best of the boys. Yet none had satisfied her so far. Now, her sudden disinterest seemed odd to He Cai.

Bai Yao smiled mischievously. “Because I have a boyfriend now.”

He Cai was stunned. “You have a boyfriend?”

Bai Yao covered her face, speaking sweetly, “Yes, we made it official just last night.”

He Cai had never heard of Bai Yao caring for anyone before. She quickly asked, curious, “Who is your boyfriend?”

“He’s a graduate student from our school. He loves sports and often plays basketball. He’s really handsome and tall.”

He Cai asked, “Is he from a wealthy family?”

Bai Yao shot her a glance. “All you talk about is money—how superficial is that? My boyfriend comes from an ordinary family, but he’s ambitious. Right after graduation, he found a job as a journalist. Outside of work, he exercises and leads a healthy life, no bad habits. He’s simply the best man in the world!”

He Cai exclaimed, “You actually fancy such an ordinary working guy!”

Bai Yao straightened up, snatching the lipstick back from He Cai. She smiled, “Stay away from me—we’re finished.”

He Cai protested, “No, Yao Yao, aren’t we best friends?”

He Cai was quickly pushed aside, and other girls rushed to take the seat beside Bai Yao, showering her with compliments and praising her boyfriend as a man without equal.

Bai Yao asked, “If my boyfriend is truly unmatched, how am I supposed to date him?”

The girl responded instantly, “That’s why you’re a goddess, Yao Yao!”

Bai Yao happily pressed the lipstick into the girl’s hand. “You really are my best friend!”

He Cai ground her teeth in frustration, glancing at the fawning girls and muttering to herself—these little opportunists, she would return with a vengeance!

Bai Yao only had morning classes today. As she stepped out of the teaching building with her parasol, she spotted a young man taking photos at the sunlit terrace.

His orange hair was soft and tousled, catching the sunlight and drawing attention.

Perhaps sensing an admiring gaze, he turned with his camera, snapped a shot of the pretty girl in a pink dress, then lowered the camera, his smile brighter than the sun itself. “Yao Yao, what a coincidence.”

Bai Yao ran over in delight, her smiling eyes unable to hide her excitement. “Lu Sheng, why are you here?”

Lu Sheng removed his headset, looking down at her with a smile. “The newspaper is running a feature on universities. I’m here gathering material.”

Bai Yao felt a rush of hormones, her heart pounding. She raised her parasol higher to shade his head from the sun.

Lu Sheng met her joyful gaze, moved closer, bending slightly as he pulled a chocolate bar from his pocket. “Want one?”

Bai Yao saw it was her favorite brand—she’d finished the last pack just two days ago. She nodded eagerly. “Yes!”

Lu Sheng unwrapped the chocolate and held it to her lips. She took a bite, her eyes curling in happiness.

He couldn’t resist and patted her head. “Shall we go eat together?”

Bai Yao mumbled, mouth full, “Sure.”

Some classmates passing by noticed Bai Yao being so intimate with a boy for the first time and immediately began to speculate.

He Cai walked with other classmates, eyeing the orange-haired boy uncertainly. “Yao Yao, is this… your friend?”

Bai Yao hugged Lu Sheng’s arm, her tone full of pride. “My boyfriend.”

Lu Sheng took the parasol from Bai Yao, holding it over her head. His eyes crinkled with a bright, cheerful smile. “Hello, everyone. I’m Lu Sheng.”
