Chapter 82: Because She’s Hopelessly in Love, Her Boyfriend’s Madness Doesn’t Matter (14)
The next morning, the sound of the phone alarm woke the sleeping pair. The girl had nearly buried her entire head under the covers, nestling deeper into the boy’s arms. Soon after, his hand groped for the phone with the pink case on the bedside table and silenced the alarm.
He withdrew his hand and continued to hold the person wrapped in the blanket, but before long, the one in his arms stirred anyway.
Bai Yao sat up on the bed, her hair a tangled mess and her face still clouded with sleep. Her sleepy eyes blinked open, her expression somewhat dazed.
Inside the blanket, the boy clung to the edge, exposing only a pair of shy, timid eyes that gazed longingly at her. “Yao Yao, aren’t you going to sleep a little longer?”
Bai Yao came to herself and looked down at the figure beneath the covers. His orange hair was just as disheveled as hers, evidence of her lack of tenderness the night before. Their bodies, pressed together beneath the blanket, felt the warmth of bare skin.
It wasn’t just the bed—the entire bedroom was in disarray.
Lu Sheng could see the marks trailing down from Bai Yao’s collarbone, all traces of his handiwork. Memories of last night’s chaos flooded his mind. Instinctively, he clutched the blanket, covering most of his face like a bashful newlywed.
How adorable!
Bai Yao threw herself onto Lu Sheng, and with her wild movement, most of his blanket slipped off, revealing that the marks on his body were no fewer than hers.
Years of exercise had made his physique anything but frail—broad shoulders, a narrow waist, firm abs, and those alluring lines that led into hidden mysteries. She remembered how beautiful his waist was when he moved, a sight that whetted her appetite.
Bai Yao ran her fingers through his soft orange hair, as if grasping a handful of sunlight, the taste of youth everywhere. She laughed and called out his name, “Lu Sheng!”
Lu Sheng stared at her blankly, unsure what she intended by calling his name.
But Bai Yao simply repeated his name again and again, “Lu Sheng, Lu Sheng, Lu Sheng!”
She had no purpose—she just wanted to call his name. No extra words, no extra actions. The sweetness in the air came from nothing more than the simple sound of his name.
Stars sparkled in Lu Sheng’s black eyes, shining bright. Each time Bai Yao called his name, his heart leapt with joy.
A few blushes spread across his face, pale as jade. Excited, he cupped his cheeks and fixed his gaze on the girl lying atop him, mimicking her and calling her name, “Yao Yao, Yao Yao, Yao Yao!”
These two were more childish than elementary schoolers.
Bai Yao buried her face in Lu Sheng’s neck, rubbing against him, inhaling his scent as if she were cuddling a cat. She muttered, “I don’t want to go to school.”
Classes were so dull; she wanted to stay close to him!
Lu Sheng held her tightly and kissed her ear, saying naively, “Then I’ll go blow up the school.”
Bai Yao raised her head to look at him.
He blinked, thinking she wanted a kiss, and leaned in, but Bai Yao covered his mouth with her hand. She smiled, “Lu Sheng, you really know how to joke. You can’t just blow up the school—I still need to graduate!”
Lu Sheng laughed as well. “Right, you can’t just blow up the school. Yao Yao, I was only joking.”
After fooling around on the bed for a while, Bai Yao remembered she still had to attend classes and couldn’t stay lazy with him forever. She planted a heavy kiss on his cheek. “Alright, I need to leave now. Wait for me to come back, okay?”
Lu Sheng answered obediently, “Okay.”
Bai Yao got out of bed and picked up the clothes she’d tossed on the floor the night before.
Lu Sheng sat on the bed with his knees drawn up, most of his beautiful body exposed. He hugged the blanket, resting his chin atop it, and watched Bai Yao busily get dressed without blinking.
When Bai Yao turned around, his eyes lit up. She rushed over to him, and he opened his arms to catch her.
Bai Yao hugged him fiercely and inhaled his scent deeply. “If you miss me, send me a message!”
He nodded earnestly. “I will!”
Bai Yao ruffled his hair once more and finally left, though reluctantly.
Lu Sheng tossed the blanket aside and hurried out of bed, barefoot, to the window. He drew back the curtains and watched the girl’s bouncing figure disappear into the distance, staring at her until she entered her own room.
Bai Yao stood in her bathroom, washing up in high spirits, humming a tune she’d composed herself, full of joy.
Outside, the bougainvillea vines seemed to sway gently in the wind, some branches hanging against the glass window, blooming with beautiful flowers.
Bai Yao opened the window for fresh air, and a blossom brushed lightly against her head. She looked up—perhaps because of her good mood, the flower seemed more beautiful than ever.
She reached out and poked the red petals, smiling with curved lips. “Good morning, little beauty.”
The flower trembled slightly.
Bai Yao had already turned away, changed into a long dress, and stepped out the door.
Strangely, the streetlights seemed to have been destroyed overnight, all shattered. In contrast, wildflowers of unknown names bloomed everywhere along the paths in the community.
Every flower’s stamen turned toward the girl walking down the path, quivering excitedly as she passed by with light steps, as if unable to contain their delight.
Lu Sheng slid slowly to the floor with his back against the wall, images of Bai Yao’s every movement replaying before his eyes. He tilted his head back, his Adam’s apple bobbing, one hand covering his eyes, unable to resist whispering, “Yao Yao... Yao Yao...”
—
Bai Yao had thought that leaving late today would cause her to miss the bus, but luck was on her side. She had just arrived at the stop when Bus 44 pulled up. As usual, she was the only passenger aboard.
But unlike before, the introverted driver kept sneaking glances at her, his expression odd, as if Bai Yao were some incomprehensible creature.
Feeling strange under his gaze, Bai Yao took out a compact mirror from her bag. She’d only managed a light makeup in her rush this morning, but her beauty was undeniable—she was stunning. Satisfied, she put the mirror away.
With her flawless looks, it was natural people would stare a little longer.
At school, Bai Yao entered the classroom and took her usual seat. In a good mood, when her classmates asked if her promise for a new house party still stood, she nodded immediately. “Of course! But my place isn’t easy to reach.”
A crowd of wealthy classmates hurried to reassure her. “No problem, we can drive ourselves!”
