Chapter Thirty-Four: Encounter (Part One)
“The temporal seal over there has vanished.” Xie Liu turned back, sensing the disappearance of an enormous seal more than ten kilometers in diameter in the distance. “Such a massive seal—did the Azure Dragon Squad run into trouble?”
“Deadeye, don’t get distracted. The enemy is approaching. Stay sharp and fire at the right moment.” Lin Yang’s voice echoed in his mind. Lin Yang was the nominal leader of their squad, and he had earned certain privileges—such as being responsible for fetching meals for the other basic members from the cafeteria every day.
“Yeah, yeah, I got it.” Lin Yang was always meticulous, so much so that it made people uneasy. Xie Liu, sucking on a lollipop, replied in a perfunctory manner. Through his scope, he surveyed the scene below, taking in every detail. “I like this spot.” At that moment, Xie Liu was prone atop a tall building, which surprisingly boasted a lawn—clearly a leisure area for some high-ranking figure. Nearby shimmered a swimming pool, its waters glittering. Fortunately, it wasn’t time for any indulgent festivities; otherwise, Xie Liu’s mind would have been too unsettled to focus on the task ahead.
“The organization has issued orders. B City has already initiated a temporal seal. We mustn’t open one here as well—if two seals are too close, there will be temporal resonance, and if control is lost, both cities could be obliterated.” Lin Yang’s words were grim. His gaze was fixed intently on the street below, where many pedestrians milled about. If
