Chapter 63: Jailbreak (Part 2)
Chapter 63: Prison Break (2)
Entering, he was Master Dardanelles.
Emerging, he was Huey Geller.
With his golden hair fluttering in the wind and a fierce murderous intent congealed in his eyes, Huey walked step by step down the small building, holding a blood-stained longsword. Several guards lay dead in pools of blood across the staircase.
In the carriage parked below the small building, two people stepped out: Lilith and Eagle.
Lilith was no longer the noble young lady who wore extravagant court dresses and had her waist cinched so tightly she gasped in pain. Dressed in military attire, she no longer concealed her elf-like long ears. Leather bracers were studded with throwing knives. On her back hung her customary emerald-longbow, and at her waist was a quiver filled with arrows carved with intricate spell runes, glowing with an eerie light.
Ashes Eagle, the elderly necromancer, had also shed his frail, elderly appearance. Draped in a wizard's cloak, he held a necromancer's bone staff custom-made for him by Huey. Though pitch-black and unassuming, it was crafted from the most precious materials, imbued with an amplification effect for necromantic spells. In his left hand, he held a peculiar skull. Within the deep, sunken sockets of his withered, emaciated old face, a pair of emerald phosphorescent lights flickered like fireflies in a graveyard at night.
The driver of the carriage was Buckler. As he shed his disguise coat and threw on his fiery-red cape, his bulging, powerful muscles were revealed. Aside from a heavy sword, he carried nothing else.
A warrior needs only a sword—this was the insistence of every high-level warrior.
"Done?" Buckler asked in a deep voice.
Huey nodded coldly. "That wasn't difficult."
Buckler swiftly pulled out a crystal ball. "Reler, lead all the brothers and get ready. The moment the magical barrier rises, kill the guards at the outer gates immediately. The Dardanelles family has been completely exposed in this prison. Kill everyone."
"Understood." On the other side of the crystal ball, Reler Yessa's murderous face flashed by.
"Eagle, you go to the left safe zone. Be careful, there may be two sixth-tier warriors inside," Huey said, walking over quickly.
"The stronger, the better," the old necromancer replied with a chuckle.
If an alchemist was the most powerful when fully prepared, then a mage came second.
When a mage kills, the prepared striking the unprepared can eliminate enemies ten times their number.
"Lilith, keep an eye on the sentries near the tower and seal off the access route here. Be careful; your responsibility is to stall them until Eagle comes to help you. I will send the Blazing Bird to assist you," Huey continued issuing commands.
Though these instructions had already been given before the mission deployment, Huey solemnly reminded Lilith once more.
Then he looked at Buckler.
The seventh-tier ocean warrior jumped onto the carriage and said coldly, "The trap zone is mine."
Huey nodded. "Xu, you go to the magical beast zone."
"Yes, Father." Amidst a rising wisp of cyan smoke, the little fellow suddenly materialized and replied in a babyish voice.
Everyone had departed, and Huey returned to the small building.
The reason he had to kill the warden first was that besides being the warden's office, the room was also the central control hub of the prison.
Arriving before the prison's magical barrier control hub, Huey silently calculated the time and pressed down hard on the activation button.
"Boom!"
A massive magical energy barrier rose into the sky over the entire Spark Prison. From forty-two magical towers simultaneously came shocked shouts: "What's going on? What happened? Why has the magical barrier activated?"
The primary function of Spark Prison's magical barrier was isolation and containment. It could prevent external enemy attacks, block forcible breakouts from internal cells, and even disrupt the transmission of magical energy.
Once the magical barrier was raised, unless the control hub was turned off or the magic spheres atop the forty-two magical towers were destroyed, the barrier would not vanish within a day. This amount of time was more than enough for Spark Prison to summon reinforcements.
Yet no one expected that someone would use this very facility to firmly lock down the entire Spark Prison, preventing a single person here from escaping.
From the moment the action plan was formulated, Huey had adhered to the most cruel combat principle: kill all enemies, leave none alive.
This was not a prison break; it was a massacre...
"Ah!" A piercing scream shattered the tranquility of the Spark Prison night, and a bloody battle officially commenced.
The Safe Zone.
This was the first location where combat began.
When the old necromancer arrived here, the sentries on rotational rest were still fast asleep. They were the next shift of guards, scheduled to begin their duties after midnight.
However, this time, they had no need to change shifts.
"Endless darkness from the abyss... swallow the light... I swear to you by my blood... with my hatred, grant the enemy eternal imprisonment!" The old necromancer chanted this long and peculiar incantation in a trembling voice.
Fifth-tier necromantic spell: Prison of Grief.
"Evil Lord of the Undead, I offer you endless tributes in exchange for your power..."
Fourth-tier necromantic spell: Flesh Stripping.
"The power of the dead is eternal and undying, let life and death transform in the natural cycle of reincarnation..."
Third-tier necromantic spell: Undead Transmutation.
After continuously casting three necromantic spells, the old necromancer's complexion seemed to grow a shade dimmer, his sunken eye sockets becoming even more gruesome as they flashed with emerald-green malevolence.
Necromantic spells could perhaps be considered the most powerful among all magical systems. Their characteristics were dark, eerie, and difficult to guard against, growing stronger the longer the battle lasted. In terms of sheer power during clashes of spells of the same tier, necromantic spells were second only to fire spells, water-lightning branch spells, dark spells, and spatial spells. However, necromantic spells also possessed fast casting speeds and low mana consumption. Their greatest drawback was that using necromantic spells drained a person's vital essence.
This was why necromancers, by the time they reached the peak of their cultivation, always ended up looking neither human nor ghost.
As the old mage chanted, the sky in this area turned gloomy and dim, as if space and time had shifted instantaneously, plunging people into an ancient battlefield.
A dense necromantic aura permeated the surroundings, and eerie, terrifying waves of death swept across the earth like a tide, completely enveloping the sentry quarters.
Flesh Stripping infused the necromantic mist with intense corrosive properties, eating away at every life enveloped within it. Prison of Grief caused people to lose themselves in a space resembling a necropolis, making escape impossible. Undead Transmutation directly converted every slain life into an undead entity, awaiting the caster's command in battle.
Any magical system never relied solely on its tier, but rather on how cleverly it was used.
At this very moment, the sentries who were originally supposed to serve as the prison's reserve striking force were converted into usable forces by necromantic spells at the very first instance.
Tragic wails echoed from the mist, with figures stumbling about everywhere. Prison of Grief deprived them of their vision, making it utterly impossible to distinguish directions. The pain brought by Flesh Stripping was beyond compare; it felt as though they had fallen to the bottom of hell, eliciting harrowing and startling shrieks.
Within the piercing, deadly mist, two figures suddenly erupted with intense battle aura radiance. The brilliance of the battle aura was so fierce that it temporarily dispelled the mist of the Prison of Grief.
Burning battle aura—a unique ability of warriors, sacrificing immense costs to temporarily boost their capabilities, the subsequent damage to themselves being almost permanent and extremely difficult to recover from.
As the battle aura flared, one figure shouted, "I see him! That necromancer is right there!"
"Kill him!" another yelled.
Two figures carved lightning-fast, leaping arcs through the mist, shooting desperately toward the old necromancer.
The moment they rushed out of the Prison of Grief, one could clearly see that the faces of these two warriors had already been corroded past recognition by the toxic mist, covered in large, bulging blood blisters.
These blood blisters kept twitching before bursting with a *pop*, spraying large swaths of bloody water and torn flesh.
One of the warriors had an eyeball burst open, and his entire face looked as though it had been scalded by boiling oil, terrifyingly gruesome.
The right hand of the other warrior had suffered massive flesh detachment from the corrosion, exposing stark white bone. Yet this claw-like, withered skeletal hand stubbornly gripped its longsword without letting go.
A warrior's nerves are tenacious, a warrior's adaptability is swift, and a warrior's will is fierce.
Even when facing a sudden ambush, these prison guards still made the correct response at the very first moment and poured all their strength into counterattacking the enemy, even though they knew full well that once afflicted with such a vicious spell, they would never survive past tomorrow. Still, they had to make the utmost effort to eliminate the enemy.
That was the primary tenet instilled in every warrior during training: tenacity is the foundation of a warrior; at any time, even to the very last moment, never give up.
Watching the two sixth-tier warriors charging aggressively toward him, Eagle sighed helplessly.
If warriors relied on formidable physical constitutions and absolute fighting spirit to ignite their life force and drive their martial intent, then necromancers were adept experts hiding in the shadows to ambush enemies.
When matched in tier, no one had ever managed to turn the tables after being ambushed by a necromancer, especially since sixth-tier warriors were not stronger in rank than a fifth-tier mage.
Eagle raised his hands to the heavens, holding his bone staff high:
"Grace of the Lord of Death, grant me the power to destroy all living beings..."
As the incantation was chanted, a massive scythe appeared in the void. Eerily enough, a white skeletal hand, shrouded in a hazy mist, seemed to grip the shaft of the scythe.
Fifth-tier necromantic spell: Scythe of the Death God.
Eagle's left hand lightly traced a semicircle, and the Scythe of the Death God, radiating an intense aura of death, actually slashed a spatial tear through the air.
The two charging warriors were forced to dodge to either side, yet how could a scythe capable of cutting through space itself be easily bypassed?
Following Eagle's hand gestures, the scythe similarly traced a semicircle in the air, and two piercing, arc-like blade lights swiftly struck the two warriors.
The blade lights pierced straight through their chests, leaving massive, tattered holes in front of them.
Surprisingly, not a single drop of blood flowed from the wounded warriors.
Their blood had been directly lost into the turbulent currents of space and time.
After the formless giant scythe in the air bloomed with a patch of bloody red light, it gradually vanished, leaving behind only the two warriors, staring blankly at the holes in their chests.
Their bodies still existed, but their lives had already been reaped by that giant scythe.
Vast amounts of flesh and blood peeled and fell away from their bodies, and with it, their lives vanished.
Just a few minutes later, the two warriors who had rushed out of the Prison of Grief were reduced to mere skeletons. Yet, they still grasped their swords in their hands.
The old necromancer sighed softly, walked slowly over, tapped the skulls of the two skeletons respectively, and softly chanted:
"In the name of the Lord of the Undead, I grant you undying power."
Two wisps of gloomy light flashed past. With the implantation of the wraith's power, deep blue flames flickered within the eye sockets of the two skeletons.
They knelt down before Eagle.
