Chapter 075: Utter Madness
Leo was utterly shameless, wielding the art of using others to kill with effortless ease! The number of magicians who would risk their lives for a single magical beast on behalf of a beast tamer was countless; the connections a beast tamer possessed far surpassed those of a high-ranking magician. For no other reason than this sacred magical beast, there would be plenty of fearless magicians willing to fight Shen Duo to the death!
Already, some magicians nearby could scarcely contain themselves, itching to make a move. Had Shen Duo not displayed her extraordinary strength in the arena moments ago, Leo’s words alone would have incited the crowd to swarm her. Leo cast a contemptuous glance at the cool, aloof girl opposite him; in his eyes, Shen Duo was already a corpse beneath the shining spheres of magical energy.
Feng Jun stood beside Shen Duo as immovable as a mountain. He did not speak for her or make decisions on her behalf, but at this moment, should anyone attack, he would be the first to send them flying.
Shen Duo swept her gaze over the greedy magicians surrounding her. Her eyes shone bright as stars. Suddenly, she locked eyes with Leo and snorted coldly, “Friends, if any of you can throw Leo and his daughter off this ship, I’ll give you ten sacred magical beasts!”
Competing with her in beast taming? Leo had truly miscalculated. Since he was determined to run headlong into her gun barrel, she was more than willing to pull the trigger.
What?
The magicians present thought they must have imagined her words. How could anyone offer ten sacred magical beasts at once? It was sheer madness. Even the top beast tamers of the Holy Radiance Continent couldn’t produce ten sacred magical beasts in such a short time. Assuming each beast took a month to tame, without any rest, it would require ten months in total! Furthermore, sacred magical beasts weren’t caught overnight; factoring in capture time, it would take at least a year—this was a reckless gamble!
Once the crowd confirmed they hadn’t misheard, they stared at Shen Duo as if she were a fool, obviously not believing a word she said.
Leo was initially stunned, but soon, like everyone else, he believed the girl before him must have been hit on the head, uttering such wild claims. Even the elders of the Four Great Families couldn’t produce ten sacred magical beasts at once—it was nothing but a madman’s dream!
Shen Duo had expected this reaction from them and didn’t bother to explain. She curled her lips into a smile, raised her right hand, and swore upon the Heaven and Earth Pact, repeating her words. A dazzling silver pattern flashed beneath her feet, then vanished into the air.
Everyone in the cabin was stunned!
The masked man standing on the spiral staircase, originally watching the spectacle, now furrowed his brows, wanting to step forward and intervene. But the pact had already been formed and could not be undone. The masked middle-aged man’s heart surged with turmoil; now, his thoughts were the same as every magician in the cabin: was this girl insane? Did she understand what her oath meant?
Moreover, the girl before them was merely a swordswoman! How could a swordswoman tame beasts?
Though everyone was shocked beyond measure, the Heaven and Earth Pact ensured that, whatever means she used, Shen Duo would fulfill her promise—or else, the pact was no joke; she would truly be condemned to hell! No one, however arrogant, would risk their life so recklessly.
Once the oath was made, its influence flipped instantly! No one doubted Shen Duo anymore; instead, all eyes turned predatory towards Leo.
Ten sacred magical beasts—what immense wealth! Even after making contracts, the surplus could be taken to the auction house. The price of a single sacred magical beast could provide a magician with the resources needed for a lifetime’s cultivation.
Besides, Shen Duo hadn’t asked them to kill Lord Leo, only to throw them into the Tianqing River. If there was anyone to offend, the culprit was Shen Duo herself, not them. Any retaliation would not fall upon these small fry. In short, only a fool would pass up such immense profit! Get the ten sacred magical beasts first, and worry about the rest later!
Even Feng Jun, who knew Shen Duo’s prowess in beast taming, was left speechless by her words. Did this girl even understand what “keeping a low profile” meant? Yet, her bold, unpretentious nature, her unwavering resolve to repay every grudge, seemed to become more and more appealing to him. Feng Jun couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows.
Leo finally snapped out of his shock. He stared at Shen Duo with wide, cloudy eyes, as if the icy girl before him was a monster. As the magicians surged forward and surrounded him, Shen Duo heard his hateful voice ring through the cabin: “Remember this—today’s humiliation, I will repay a hundredfold, a thousandfold!”
Leo, a mere two-star spirit magician, stood no chance against the crowd. No sooner had he spoken than the magicians dragged him onto the deck, ready to toss him into the Tianqing River.
Shen Duo suddenly shouted, “Wait!”
Immediately, everyone moved aside, making a path for her to approach Leo.
Leo sneered, believing this inexperienced girl finally understood regret. If she would kneel and kowtow dozens of times, call him “Grandfather” three times, perhaps he’d consider forgiving her.
Leo’s limbs were held fast by the magicians; he could not move. Shen Duo smiled at him, then crouched down and deftly snatched the storage pouch from his waist. She shook the blue silk pouch in front of his eyes and said lightly, “Thank you.”
The smug look vanished from Leo’s face in an instant, replaced by a deathly pallor. He was so furious that he nearly choked, a rush of bitterness surging in his throat.
With a loud splash, Leo’s burning rage echoed from the river, “You little wretch! You just wait! Just wait!!”
Another splash followed; Elsa’s shriek rang out as she too was thrown into the Tianqing River.
Instantly, many on the ship felt a refreshing sense of relief. Leo and his daughter, with their beast tamer status, had always been insufferably arrogant, forcing even top magicians to bow and scrape before them. If Leo fancied something, he simply took it, never giving independent magicians a second thought.
This was the perfect chance to teach the father-daughter pair a lesson; everyone felt a burden lifted. Most importantly, there was Shen Duo’s promise! An offer that could drive almost every magician on the Holy Radiance Continent mad with desire!
Shen Duo weighed the storage pouch in her hand, watching as Leo and Elsa were swept farther and farther downstream. She even waved politely in their direction!
The magicians nearby couldn’t help but break out in cold sweat—she bullied others and acted as if she were bestowing a favor, wearing an air of gentle warmth.
This girl was utterly shameless, devious, brazen—and utterly irresistible! Ha!
Feng Jun watched her and chuckled, rubbing his nose in amusement.
