Chapter 133: Primordial Heavy Water
Once he had confirmed that the colorless, transparent liquid was a treasure, Liu Pan immediately grew excited.
Though he was the author and knew where many treasures in this world could be found, what use was that knowledge? Since transmigrating into this world, aside from obtaining the Great Wilderness Blade, he had not even seen any of the others.
And although the Great Wilderness Blade had fallen into his hands, it had ultimately ended up with Liu Kuang instead... It was no exaggeration to say that, up to this moment, he had gained absolutely nothing!
An author had transmigrated into his own novel and wandered around for nearly a year, yet had not managed to obtain even a single treasure. Liu Pan truly felt that he might be the most unsuccessful person ever to transmigrate into a world of cultivation.
Now, however, a treasure lay right before his eyes. Though he had never written the slightest thing about it in his book and had no idea what it was, the fact that it was a treasure was enough.
Liu Pan reached out and touched the colorless, transparent liquid again. A trace of bewilderment appeared in his eyes.
The sensation beneath his foot earlier had indeed not been mistaken. It looked like water, and even after being scanned by his spiritual power, it had been identified as water. It felt soft to the touch, yet in reality it was absurdly hard. Stepping on it truly felt like walking across solid ground.
How was he supposed to take it away?
Liu Pan frowned and tried to pry up the edge of the transparent liquid, only to discover that it could not be lifted at all. As for scooping it into a bottle or gathering it up with his hands, those methods were even more impossible.
“Damn it! After finally finding a treasure, am I really going to give up just because I can’t carry it away?”
Liu Pan was utterly speechless. In the short time since discovering it, he had already tried five or six different methods. He had even brought over his sword and hacked at it twice, yet the transparent liquid remained completely unmoved.
“Damn!”
After cursing under his breath once more, Liu Pan turned his gaze toward the heart of the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon.
The heart of the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon was enormous. In Liu Pan’s eyes, it looked rather like a hot-air balloon. Even so, he understood that however large the heart was, there would not be much heart-origin blood within it.
Not every drop of blood found in the heart could be called heart-origin blood. Ordinary mortals who had never cultivated possessed no heart-origin blood at all. As for cultivators, the amount of heart-origin blood they possessed was generally proportional to their cultivation.
Take Liu Pan himself. At the Martial King Realm, only five or six drops of the blood within his heart could be called heart-origin blood. Its rarity and preciousness were therefore self-evident.
The Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon possessed a massive heart and had been a peak Saint-realm demon beast. Even so, after considerable effort, Liu Pan managed to collect only half a bottle of its heart-origin blood.
The bottle was a storage artifact with a total capacity of just one cubic meter. In truth, Liu Pan was already thrilled to have collected a third of that capacity. Any single drop of such blood was priceless, let alone half a bottle.
Afterward, Liu Pan took out several more jade bottles and collected the remaining blood within the heart, filling six large bottles to the brim before finally withdrawing his gaze in satisfaction.
In fact, there was still a great deal of blood in other parts of the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon’s body. However, because the corpse had been exposed, most of it had already been contaminated. Collecting it would have been extremely troublesome, which was why Liu Pan had limited himself to the blood inside the heart.
He turned his gaze once again toward the pool of colorless, transparent liquid nearby and frowned. How to take it away remained a difficult problem.
Liu Pan stepped closer. Suddenly, a strange expression appeared in his eyes, for he discovered that the liquid seemed to have “shrunk.” Its area of coverage was slightly smaller than before.
In an instant, Liu Pan extended his spiritual power and scanned the transparent liquid once more. Then he was astonished to discover that the colorless liquid had not shrunk at all. Instead, it had sunk downward somewhat.
Since this was inside the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon’s body, the flesh of the dragon lay beneath the colorless liquid. Liu Pan had originally thought that, if he truly could not find a way to remove the liquid, he could dig out the flesh beneath it and take everything away together.
But now that he had noticed this phenomenon, he immediately understood that even digging out the flesh would probably not work.
Moreover, he suspected that if there had not been a layer of sturdy scales beneath the flesh, the liquid might already have “sunk” out of the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon’s body before he discovered it, leaving him with no chance of seeing it at all.
What exactly was this thing?
Liu Pan examined it from every angle, and the strange look in his eyes grew increasingly intense. It could even crush the body of a Saint-realm demon beast like the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon. That was far too terrifying.
And if this transparent liquid was truly so terrifying and dangerous, how had the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon managed to store it—and even place it inside its own body?
Liu Pan looked around. His gaze suddenly came to rest on the Netherworld Demon Flood Dragon’s enormous heart.
Could it be...
In the next instant, excitement flashed through Liu Pan’s eyes. His entire body became utterly exhilarated, as though he had been injected with stimulants. At last, he realized that this colorless liquid was likely no ordinary substance at all, but the legendary essence of water—One-Origin Heavy Water!
There were countless treasures in the cultivation world. Some had been created through refining, while others had been nurtured naturally by Heaven and Earth.
In truth, after undergoing even a slight refinement, most treasures could acknowledge an owner through the method of blood recognition. Yet a very small number were exceptions. They could not be refined, nor could they retain the aura of anything else. Because they had returned to their original simplicity, they looked no different from ordinary objects found in the mortal world.
If there was anything unique about them, it was their purity—purity beyond that of anything else.
And there was only one way to make such treasures acknowledge an owner: dripping heart-origin blood.
Liu Pan remembered that when Liu Kuang had obtained the legendary essence of fire, the Voidless Heavenly Flame, in his book, he had also used heart-origin blood to establish ownership.
If that was the case, then he had truly stumbled upon an extraordinary treasure.
Unable to wait any longer, Liu Pan ignored his injuries and struck his own chest with his palm. Amid a violent fit of coughing, a drop of dark-red blood was forced from his body and fell onto the colorless, transparent liquid.
There was no sound and no fluctuation. The dark-red blood slowly disappeared, whether absorbed or lost in some other manner.
Liu Pan was somewhat puzzled. After examining the colorless, transparent liquid from top to bottom once more, he suddenly had a thought.
Then he was plunged into boundless ecstasy.
Although he could not sense any connection between himself and the One-Origin Heavy Water, the instant his thoughts shifted, the pool of transparent liquid suddenly began to move. It rapidly gathered together, transforming into a water droplet the size of a human head that hovered before him.
After a long while, Liu Pan’s emotions finally settled somewhat. Following a brief hesitation, he moved his thoughts, and the One-Origin Heavy Water entered his dantian.
A look of astonishment appeared in Liu Pan’s eyes. A cultivator’s dantian was indeed mysterious. Something as large as a human head could be accommodated within it with ease. It was simply miraculous.
At this point, Liu Pan became even more certain that the transparent liquid was One-Origin Heavy Water. Only the most supreme treasures and artifacts that had already developed spiritual awareness could break through that restriction and enter a cultivator’s dantian.
The moment the One-Origin Heavy Water entered his body, Liu Pan felt as though he were drifting through the heavens. The sensation was so wonderful that he nearly moaned aloud.
Water was the source of all things, and it possessed healing properties in its own right. At that moment, Liu Pan could feel his entire body being nourished. He was so comfortable that he almost cried out.
After savoring the sensation for a while, Liu Pan suddenly shifted his thoughts, and a transparent garment appeared over his body. It had been transformed from the One-Origin Heavy Water.
After reinforcing it with his will, Liu Pan tapped it with his hand and discovered that its hardness was astonishing. This delighted him once more.
With such defenses, anyone whose cultivation was not far above his own would likely be unable to injure him.
Liu Pan then controlled the One-Origin Heavy Water and transformed it into blades, spears, clubs, and various other weapons. To his disappointment, however, aside from their astonishing hardness, the manifested weapons possessed no other special qualities.
That made sense. After all, they were merely transformations. It was impossible to inscribe formations upon them. If their power were truly formidable, that would have been the strange part.
After playing with the One-Origin Heavy Water for a while, Liu Pan finally set aside his curiosity. Then he fell silent.
He had thought of what had happened when his heart-origin blood dripped onto it earlier.
Dark red.
That shade of darkness was far from normal...
