Volume Two: Bandit Life - Chapter 48: Training [Part Two]
Postscript: Whew... Finished three chapters today, I'm exhausted... Going to sleep.
"We really don't know anything. Since Brother Qin is new here, this older brother of yours will offer you a piece of advice: it is better to know as little as possible about these matters." The fat man drank his wine with a bitter expression and advised earnestly, "I know young people are naturally curious, but sometimes curiosity can kill you."
"Oh? Is the Heavenly Waters Pavilion so overbearing? One can't even discuss them?" Qin Si could naturally understand the implications of the fat man's words, and a slight sense of amusement rose in his heart. What kind of faction was this? Not even allowing a discussion—it was practically a joke.
"Shh..." Hearing Qin Si say this, the fat man hurriedly reached out to cover his mouth, shaking his head with a wry smile. "Why don't you understand? In this world, the strong rule. There must be a reason why they have such taboos. Brother Qin, you must remember that disaster comes from the mouth."
Qin Si shook his head, chuckled softly, and said nothing, but his favorability toward this fat man increased greatly. For an ordinary intermediate deity to treat a newly acquainted friend with such warmth—though honest advice is hard to the ear, every word was true—that in itself was no small feat.
Glancing sideways at Nan Quewu, who had remained silent all this while, Qin Si's eyes rolled, and he asked in a low voice, "Who is Wuqing? Why are you all so afraid of him?"
Nan Quewu clearly noticed Qin Si observing him. He smiled faintly and said in a deep voice, "It seems little brother is indeed newly emerged if you don't even know Lord Wuqing. Try to mention that name as little as possible in the future. Matters in the God Realm are extremely complex; some people must never be mentioned, let alone offended. The lord just mentioned belongs precisely to that category."
Qin Si paused for a moment, thinking inwardly: Could this Wuqing have something bizarre about him? Just as he was pondering, Zhou Feier beside him secretly tugged at his sleeve, looking pitifully at the wine bottle in Qin Si's hands, and pleaded, "Little Sisi... let me have a sip."
The fat man and Nan Quewu had been watching the cute girl beside Qin Si. Seeing her pitiful little expression, they couldn't help laughing. "Brother Qin is not being fair. How can you resort to bullying a little girl?"
Qin Si's face darkened, and he glared at Zhou Feier. "No way! What did you do after drinking too much last night?"
"It... it was nothing much. Just set fire to that old man's house, that's all... what's the big deal about that?" Although Zhou Feier spoke of it as a minor matter, she lacked confidence, maintaining her cautious and timid demeanor.
Qin Si sighed, waved his hand at the fat man and Nan Quewu to indicate they didn't know the inside story and should hold their questions. At this very moment, the thought of what Zhou Feier had done last night brought a well of anger with nowhere to release.
Last night, Sect Master Duan Shuai had hosted a banquet for the Heavenly Honored One Wuye, and had also invited Qin Si and Zhou Feier to drink with them. As a result, Zhou Feier had indulged her fondness for alcohol and drained dozens of jars of the Water-Severing Sect's fine wine. The wine of the Water-Severing Sect was brewed using secret techniques; even a God King would feel a hint of intoxication from it, and if one drank too much, getting drunk was inevitable.
Thus, Zhou Feier got drunk. And the consequence of her drunkenness was that her young-miss temper flared up, her tongue loosened, and in the middle of their conversation, she brought up the incident where Wuye had abducted Qin Si. Although it had later been explained as a misunderstanding, Zhou Feier for some reason became extremely furious, and emboldened by the alcohol, she set fire to the side hall where Duan Shuai had been entertaining his guests. Although the fire had been extinguished by everyone using great divine powers just as it started, it was still a blow to Qin Si's face. Yet, because Zhou Feier had acted out of a desire to stand up for him, it left him in an intensely awkward position where he could not even vent his anger on her.
Therefore, before coming out to stroll around today, he had explicitly forbidden Zhou Feier from drinking any alcohol. He had originally expected to waste plenty of breath arguing with her, but to his surprise, this girl had somehow changed her tune entirely and obediently complied with his wishes. While this left Qin Si utterly baffled, it also brought a quiet joy to his heart—after all, having fewer troubles by one's side was always better than having more.
The fat man and Nan Quewu hung their jaws open, staring blankly at Zhou Feier, whose cheeks were flushed and who was staring pitifully at the wine bottle in Qin Si's grasp. Their minds were absolute chaos; they simply could not imagine what this exceptionally cute little girl looked like when she was drunk.
"Is Wuqing really that formidable?" Qin Si looked thoughtfully at the street below the restaurant and suddenly asked the fat man.
"Mm, very formidable. I heard he has already comprehended time standstill and become the fifth-ranked expert of the Heavenly Waters Pavilion." The fat man was busy imagining what such a cute little girl would look like drunk when Qin Si's abrupt question caught him off guard; without thinking, he blurted out the answer.
As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized he had spoken out of turn. He vigilantly scanned his surroundings, and only when he saw that no one was paying attention did he let out a sigh of relief, complaining, "Brother Qin is dishonest, actually tricking me into spilling secrets like that."
Qin Si laughed heartily, clinking his wine bottle against those of Nan Quewu and the fat man, and said leisurely, "The Law of Time Standstill? In my eyes, it's just so-so. Tell me, why are you all so afraid of him? Even if the Heavenly Waters Pavilion doesn't allow outsiders to casually discuss them, it shouldn't reach the point of fearing Wuqing to this extent, right?"
The fat man gave a troubled look toward the silent Nan Quewu, seeming to want to say something. His lips moved for a long moment, yet no sound ever came out.
Seeing the fat man's distressed expression, Qin Si knew better than to press the issue further. He simply laughed heartily, dropped the subject, and continued to clink bottles and chat idly with the two men.
Although the fat man did not belong to any faction, he possessed a fair amount of knowledge regarding the various powers of the Primordial God Realm and their slightly renowned figures—excluding, of course, Qin Si's Purple Mystery Alliance. Coupled with Qin Si's easygoing nature, the three of them ended up chatting with great enthusiasm. Zhou Feier, by contrast, sat obediently in her place, watching the three men drink with wide eyes, constantly smacking her small lips and looking at the wine bottle in Qin Si's hands with unconcealed yearning.
As noon approached, the restaurant gradually grew lively. After a few tables of guests on the second floor departed, others quickly stepped up to claim the seats.
Before long, a wave of clamor rose up, and all sorts of noises filled the restaurant.
Qin Si and the others immersed themselves in this bustling atmosphere, while Zhou Feier's large eyes scanned restlessly around, clearly showing immense interest in the commotion.
Just as everyone was chatting most congenially, the restaurant suddenly plunged into absolute silence, as if every person's voice had been instantly cut off. It became so quiet that even the drop of a pin could be heard.
Against this strange stillness, the laughter and conversation of Qin Si's trio echoed far away, creating a deeply bizarre sensation amidst the unnatural quiet.
The rustling sound of footsteps drifted over as two figures slowly walked from the first floor onto the second. A God King following closely behind a tall, handsome man suddenly halted upon reaching the top of the stairs, turned around, and stated in a deep voice, "The Pengliu Sect is entertaining guests; unrelated personnel are to leave."
That God King's low voice was delivered with crystal clarity into everyone's ears, sounding as if he were speaking right beside them. It was filled with an inexplicable majesty that involuntarily sent a thrill of terror through their hearts.
In the blink of an eye, the guests in the Floating Fragrance Restaurant had cleared out completely, leaving only Qin Si's table still seated there without the slightest reaction.
Seeing the two figures approaching step by step, the fat man and Nan Quewu instantly turned pale as paper. Trembling with fear, they scrambled to their feet and stammered to Qin Si, "Br-Brother Qin... Le-Let's leave this place!"
Qin Si had sensed the anomaly long ago, especially when the God King's excessively arrogant and deep words had reached his ears. He had already made up his mind in an instant, which was why he had briefly stopped the fat man and Nan Quewu when they first tried to leave.
However, in the minds of the fat man and Nan Quewu, this seemingly young Qin Si—though pleasant to chat with upon first meeting—was clearly not an expert of the God King tier, so his words carried little weight for them. At that moment, upon seeing the Pengliu Sect's God King and the tall, handsome young man walking ahead of him, their complexions altered drastically. Especially upon laying eyes on the young man, the two felt their calves cramp and their entire bodies shake uncontrollably.
"Why haven't you left yet?" The God King did not appear overly arrogant. He cast a surprised, fleeting glance at Qin Si and Zhou Feier, who remained calmly seated, a flash of murderous intent crossing his eyes as he barked at the fat man and Nan Quewu, "Get lost at once!"
The pair threw one anxious look at Qin Si, and upon hearing the shout, they felt a simultaneous wave of relief, scrambling away on all fours.
Meanwhile, the young man walking before the God King maintained a completely expressionless face, preserving his calm demeanor as he slowly walked right up to Qin Si.
"Lady Feier, we meet again." Before the God King could make a move to toss Qin Si out, the young man seated himself gracefully opposite Qin Si, fixing his gaze upon Zhou Feier with a fanatical intensity.
"Who are you? Have we met before?" Although Zhou Feier usually appeared somewhat eccentric and mischievous, it did not mean she was foolish. After all, anyone capable of cultivating to the God King realm within a few million years was a genius; if she were truly foolish, not a single intelligent person would remain in the entire Primordial God Realm.
Upon hearing the God King declare their affiliation with the Pengliu Sect, Zhou Feier had already sensed that something was amiss. However, seeing Qin Si's unshakable composure, an unexpected calm settled over her heart. Seeing the young man take the initiative to greet her, she covertly glanced at Qin Si and addressed the youth without a shred of politeness, "Even if we have met, I don't know you. So please don't act as though we are close when you speak to me."
"Hah..." The young man did not seem to mind Zhou Feier's attitude in the least. Instead, his gaze shifted to Qin Si, and he said indifferently, "The Alliance Master of the Purple Mystery Alliance, am I correct? I am Wuqing of the Heavenly Waters Pavilion, and my coming here today is solely to kill you."
