Volume Two: Bandit’s Life Chapter Four: First Arrival in the Primordial Divine Realm
In the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos, Qin Si and Qin Shuang flew through this unfamiliar land, both brothers full of eager delight and not the least bit saddened by leaving home. This was a place they had fought long and hard to be allowed to come to.
The Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos was the earliest universe in the Primordial Chaos expanse, predating the Divine Realm of Lin Meng by more than a thousand eras of derivation. Such a span was something the two brothers had never even dared to imagine.
In two eras of derivation, the Divine Realm of Lin Meng had given rise to dozens of Divine Kings and three Sovereigns. Then what would the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos, with more than a thousand eras of derivation, look like?
Masters everywhere, that was the brothers’ guess.
In truth, the situation in the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos was much the same as they had imagined. By the standards of the Divine Realm of Lin Meng’s development, one Sovereign should emerge in each era of derivation, and theoretically the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos ought to have more than a thousand Sovereigns.
Reality, however, was not so simple. When the number of Sovereigns in the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos reached one hundred, Primordial Chaos ceased bestowing Sovereign divine treasures. After that, any Divine King who wished to become a Sovereign had to rely on his own insight. In other words, a Divine King who had fully comprehended the law of time could also become a Sovereign, and only after becoming one would he receive the Sovereign treasure granted by Primordial Chaos.
Over the course of more than a thousand eras of derivation, there were already more than a hundred Divine Kings in the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos who had completely grasped the law of time. In other words, the entire Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos possessed more than two hundred Sovereigns, even more than the number of Divine Kings in the Divine Realm of Lin Meng.
As for Divine Kings, they were nothing special in the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos. Their numbers there exceeded the upper-level gods of the Divine Realm of Lin Meng. When the numbers became so great, the sense of superiority that came with being a Divine King vanished as well. Even among the ancient Eight Great Clans, a Divine King was merely a middle-ranking force, no longer a peak one.
Qin Si and Qin Shuang now stood in this utterly unfamiliar world, one they had struggled so hard to win for themselves.
Returning once more to Misty City.
After returning from Demon Island, Qin Shuang had thought over many things. His level had risen with shocking speed, to a degree he himself could not comprehend. In only three months after becoming a god, he had already reached the level of a mid-tier Celestial. Even his elder brother Qin Si had not cultivated so quickly in the past.
There were drawbacks to advancing too fast. Qin Shuang could already sense them: he was beginning to feel some strain in controlling the energy within his body. It was like a child suddenly turned into a giant; there was no way he could adapt easily. Three months ago, Qin Shuang had merely been a ninth-tier Immortal Emperor. Now he was a mid-tier Celestial. The gulf between those two states was even greater than the difference between a child and a giant.
His experience on Demon Island gave Qin Shuang tremendous inspiration. Traveling more and undergoing more tempering would greatly help him master his own power. So not long after returning to Misty City, Qin Shuang went to seek out Qin Yu and Jiang Li.
In the Purple Mystic Mansion, Qin Shuang knelt before Qin Yu and Jiang Li. Jiang Li was utterly at a loss, but Qin Yu had already sensed something in his heart.
"Father, Mother..." Qin Shuang said with his head lowered. "I want to ask you for one thing!"
"Little Shuang, tell us what it is!" Jiang Li said with a smile. Qin Shuang’s runaway from home had also deeply moved her. Ever since realizing that she had not cared enough for her youngest son, Jiang Li had felt deep remorse. If Qin Yu had not objected, she would already have gone herself to the lower realms to bring Qin Shuang back. At the same time, she had resolved that in the future she would surely make up for all the neglect he had suffered before.
"Mother, I want to go and see the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos that Father spoke of!"
Qin Shuang glanced at Jiang Li and said in a low voice. He did not dare say that he wanted to go there for training; he only said that he wanted to see it.
"Absolutely not!" Jiang Li refused at once, without even thinking.
Only Qin Yu gave Qin Shuang a long look.
"Mother, your son has grown up. I should go out and see more of the world... and I do not wish to keep growing under Father’s protection," Qin Shuang said with his head lowered. His journey to Demon Island had stirred him greatly. He had realized that no matter how strong the brothers were, they were always beneath the shelter of their father, who stood as a Primordial Chaos Controller.
"Little Shuang, do you know that the spatial and temporal laws of the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos are different from those of the Divine Realm of Lin Meng we are in now? You are already a mid-tier Celestial. With your current pace, it will not be long before you reach upper-tier Celestial. If you go there, you may possess the soul realm of an upper-tier Celestial, but your actual strength may even be inferior to that of a lower-tier Celestial!"
Qin Yu quietly comforted Jiang Li by transmission, then said to Qin Shuang. What he said was the truth.
"Well..." Qin Shuang had never truly considered that. His understanding of the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos was limited to what Qin Yu had told him; he had no grasp at all of the essential truths.
"Then think it over carefully. When you have thought it through, come and tell us your decision," Qin Yu said with a faint smile, waving Qin Shuang closer. Deep in his heart, Qin Yu very much wished his son would remain by his side, but he still supported his son’s choice.
Nine months later, Qin Shuang, who had been in seclusion adjusting the energy within his body, suddenly felt divine power surging violently inside him. When he awakened, he discovered that, without realizing it, both his physical power and his soul realm had reached the level of an upper-tier Celestial.
He had ascended less than two years ago, yet had already become an upper-tier Celestial. In the history of the Divine Realm, this had never happened before. Qin Shuang could not understand it, and Qin Si could not understand it either. Only Qin Yu knew what was behind it.
Primordial Chaos divine wine. Primordial Chaos had not set any real threshold for that wine in the end, only added another wine vessel. Even Qin Yu had not expected Qin Shuang’s fate to be so formidable. The first divine treasure he had brought out had gone to Qin Shuang, and even Primordial Chaos’s divine wine had also fallen into Qin Shuang’s hands. Only Lin Meng’s source pearl had been obtained by Zhang Xingfeng. Even so, the source pearl had been given to Zhang Xingfeng by Qin Shuang.
The Controller’s game, three divine treasures as prizes, and Qin Shuang had won two of them. It had to be said that his destiny was overwhelming. Even the Controllers themselves had no idea who, in the end, would receive those three items.
To this day, Qin Shuang still did not know that everything he experienced in the lower realms had merely been a game set up by his father and his two uncles. He also did not know that the prize he ultimately received for the first Mountain-and-Sea Heaven was the clone puppet that Qin Yu had once used and later reforged into the Lotus Flame Clone.
Having reached upper-tier Celestial, Qin Shuang’s resolve to go to the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos for tempering became even firmer. He had only been a Celestial for one year, a span so brief it could be ignored in the life of a god. Even if he had to comprehend the spatial laws of the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos anew, Qin Shuang was willing.
Half a year later, Qin Shuang once again went to seek out Qin Yu and Jiang Li. This time, his parents did not refuse him. Jiang Li only提出 one condition: he had to remain in the Purple Mystic Mansion for five hundred more years before going, and once there, he could stay no longer than ten thousand years. After ten thousand years, no matter what, he had to return.
Qin Shuang agreed to Jiang Li’s request. Unexpectedly, after Qin Si learned of this, he immediately insisted on going together with Qin Shuang. After Jiang Li refused, he pestered them relentlessly for decades. In the end, Jiang Li had no choice. After setting the same conditions for him and obtaining a great many treasures from Qin Yu for them, she finally agreed to let the two brothers go together.
More than four hundred years later, after obediently accompanying their parents for a full five hundred years, the two brothers suppressed the excitement in their hearts and, through the cosmic passage opened by their father Qin Yu, finally entered the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos, thus beginning a new chapter in their journey.
The Purple Mystic Mansion.
"Brother Yu, are they really going to be all right over there?"
Leaning against Qin Yu’s side, Jiang Li still felt somewhat uneasy about the two brothers, Qin Shuang and Qin Si.
"Li’er, rest assured. This is the road those two boys must walk. Perhaps when they return, you will discover that both of them are even stronger than you are," Qin Yu said with a smile, putting an arm around Jiang Li’s shoulder and gently comforting her. In his heart as well, he carried nothing but hopes for his two sons.
In the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos, Qin Si and Qin Shuang were like two birds just released from a cage, flying joyfully through the sky. Though they knew nothing of the spatial laws of this realm, both were still Celestials in the end, and even flying on the divine power within their bodies posed no problem.
The population of the Divine Realm of Primordial Chaos was even larger than that of the Divine Realm of Lin Meng. The place where they emerged was barren land, but after flying less than half an hour, they came upon a village. It was enormous, housing at least several hundred thousand gods of all levels, along with a small number of Celestials.
"Little Shuang, have you noticed anything?" After the two had walked along several streets in the village, Qin Si suddenly sent Qin Shuang a mysterious transmission.
Qin Shuang examined their surroundings carefully, then shook his head.
"You fool, don’t you see that the people here are very poor?"
With Qin Si’s reminder, Qin Shuang finally noticed that the people here truly were poor. Most of the things sold along the streets were useless trinkets. There were not even many ordinary divine artifacts, only very common items.
"This is just a village. It is only natural that there are fewer things for sale," Qin Shuang thought for a moment and argued back.
"Little Shuang, even in our world, people in the most remote villages basically all possess a low-grade divine artifact. Ordinary low-grade divine artifacts would never be displayed for sale. Look at the divine artifacts laid out here; they are all low-grade divine artifacts. That is enough to prove that here, even low-grade divine artifacts count as valuable goods. Doesn’t that prove they’re poor?"
Qin Shuang had not been in the Divine Realm for long, and there were many things he was not as familiar with as Qin Si. As for villages in the Divine Realm, Qin Shuang had never been to a single one, so how could he know the difference between villages in the two divine realms?
The story continues.
