Chapter 105: Are You Sure You're Among Them?
He glanced at the latest news.
“That factory is a total rip-off! A single tree big enough to be hugged by one person only yields 100 units of wood. I can get more than that on my own.”
“If you gather resources yourself, people won’t recognize you, so what can you do? Ultimately, you still have to use it.”
“Have you guys even thought about how to get gasoline?”
“Damn! If you hadn’t mentioned it, I’d have completely forgotten about that. Metals and wood are easy enough, but what about gasoline?”
...
Lin Mu stroked his chin thoughtfully. That was indeed a problem—where did gasoline come from? He looked toward the resource detector in his backpack. Could it be that he had to find mineral deposits himself?
Hiss!
Actually, that was quite possible.
If that were the case, this factory’s function was pointless—no better than relying on his own traits.
He opened the status panel and walked over to an empty lot nearby.
By now, preparations here were nearly complete.
“Brother Mu, you’re here. Everything’s almost ready; we can start anytime.”
Lin Mu looked around. Everyone was wearing collars around their necks—perfectly fitted.
The only pity was that the Qin convoy wasn’t unified.
“Then let’s begin.”
Two hours later, three tables were filled.
“I’ll say a few words: welcome to the Rose Convoy’s joining. From now on, we’re one family. Work hard, and resources and food will never be lacking for you.
“After that, it’s your turn. If Zhao Jin complains to me, don’t blame me for being harsh. I don’t care about voluntary disputes between you—that’s one thing I promised Zhao Jin. Now, let’s eat.”
There was no notion of friction between the two squads; one was mostly men, and the other entirely women.
They all wanted to perform well in front of the others.
The women didn’t mind at all.
The only one who didn’t show much was Zhao Jin. To everyone else, Zhao Jin was already one of Lin Mu’s people.
...
Late at night, several figures gathered.
“Are you crazy? This can’t work.”
“What’s wrong with it? Didn’t Lin Mu say so today?”
“But... if we get caught, we’re dead for sure.”
“I checked; there are a few blind spots in the cameras.”
...
The next day, a new day dawned, and the convoy prepared to move.
Yesterday had wasted half a day; otherwise, they’d have covered over a thousand kilometers by now.
Knock knock knock—
Lin Mu opened his door. Zhao Jin looked at him with a grim expression.
“My people... someone...” She couldn’t bring herself to say the words.
Lin Mu frowned. He had just spoken yesterday, and someone dared to do this already?
Crazy?
That was the downside of the restraining collars: as long as the thoughts and actions weren’t against Lin Mu, they wouldn’t react.
“Don’t worry. If anyone really did something, I’ll hand them over to you.”
Couldn’t these people get a little familiar? Doesn’t time breed affection?
“Everyone, come out!”
A moment later, a group gathered, their eyes filled with confusion.
“Come on, step forward and tell me who laid hands on her?”
A long-haired woman with red eyes stepped forward behind Zhao Jin. “I don’t remember. I only recall someone about my height.”
“Everyone come here, line up and compare.”
Sixteen men stepped forward to compare heights with the woman, and ten were left.
“Thin build.”
Four more stepped back.
“Right, he had a lot of facial hair.”
Lin Mu looked at the remaining two men, frowning. “Are you sure?”
The two men glanced at each other, puzzled.
Everyone else now realized—it was someone who had made a move on this woman last night.
But...
That shouldn’t be possible.
“I remember very clearly. What I saw was correct. Height and build matched, and the beard was something I sensed.”
The woman hurried to explain.
“Zhao Jin, some things I need to make clear upfront: if it’s my people, I’ll leave them to you to handle. But if your people are lying, they’ll be handled by me!”
Zhao Jin’s expression changed as she looked at the woman. “Huang Yao, did something happen to you last night?”
Huang Yao looked anxious. “How could I joke about this? Would I risk my honor?”
Lin Mu snorted. “Honor? In this survival game, you talk to me about honor?”
He turned to the two men. “Come on, tell them what your relationship is.”
One of the bearded men curled his finger playfully. “Stop it, Brother Mu. How can we just broadcast this everywhere?”
Lin Mu twitched at the corner of his mouth. “Say what you’re told without messing around. You should have been replaced back then. I don’t even know what your previous captain was thinking, putting you two together.”
“Captain, you don’t understand. He and I share interests.”
The two bearded men exchanged a smile in front of everyone, interlocking their fingers tightly.
Lin Mu waved his hand. “You two, get down now.”
At that moment, Huang Yao was sweating profusely, thinking: this... this... was not what she expected.
“So, exactly what did they do to you? Tell me.”
Zhao Jin’s face darkened. Huang Yao was a huge liability.
“I... I definitely won’t admit it. What if they also like women?”
Lin Mu shook his head. “001, release all the surveillance footage and find the footage of this woman’s situation at that time.”
“Yes!”
001’s right hand turned into a cable and plugged into Lin Mu’s vehicle, then a projection appeared on the side of a distant vehicle.
Eighty screens flashed continuously.
One by one, they were filtered until all footage without Huang Yao’s presence was removed.
Only two camera angles remained.
“I forgot to mention, each of our vehicles has four cameras. Besides these, there are some hidden ones.”
The footage ended, showing Huang Yao with two other women.
Seeing the three in the video, Zhao Jin’s face grew even darker.
“Just insist it’s made-up, no matter what.”
“As for the collar, since it’s not Lin Mu you harmed, nothing will happen.”
The three’s faces were magnified endlessly.
Huang Yao trembled and hurried to explain, “I didn’t want to do it. They forced me.”
“Clearly, you wanted me to help come up with a plan; I just gave a suggestion.”
“Yeah, how could this have anything to do with me?”
The three argued and then started fighting.
Lin Mu watched Zhao Jin with a smile. “Didn’t you clear your team pretty well? If you ask me, just get rid of these three. They’re only trouble.”
The restraining collars weren’t all-powerful; in such situations, the collars were useless.
The three kept fighting without any reaction from the collars.
But that was fine. It would’ve been strange if they were that omnipotent.
“Lin Mu, these three are yours now. The contract doesn’t apply to them.”
