Chapter 106: Finally Encountering Humans
As signatories of the contract, if both of them simultaneously exclude a person from the contract’s scope, then the contract offers no protection for that individual.
In fact, that single clause was the only real protection the contract provided for Zhao Jin and his group.
Lin Mu nodded. “Take those three away and kill them.”
“One of the teammates cautiously looked at Lin Mu. “What about the captain? Can we make use of him somehow?”
Lin Mu glanced at Zhao Jin, who showed no reaction, so Lin Mu waved his hand dismissively.
The man’s face lit up with joy, and he quickly led the others away with the three women.
The three women struggled desperately.
“Captain Zhao! Save me! I won’t do it again!”
“Captain Lin! I was wrong, please spare me.”
“...”
No matter how much they pleaded, no one came to their defense.
Once their voices faded away, Lin Mu clapped his hands.
“I don’t know what their exact motives were for doing this, nor do I care. I’ll tell you this: as long as you work properly, the resources allocated to everyone are the same. Even if there’s only one person in a convoy, the resources remain fixed and won’t change based on the number of people.”
To be honest, Lin Mu himself didn’t fully understand such an absurd arrangement.
He had never said that resource distribution was based on the number of personnel.
But thinking about it, it made sense. These people were new here and didn’t understand him.
Now that they did, presumably no one would dare to repeat such acts again.
...
The vehicles were back on the road. Today’s objective was to explore and understand the true meaning of their current situation.
Lin Mu’s car was now controlled by 001.
He sat on the sofa in the back, snacking while monitoring the chat on the communication channel.
“There are absolutely no resource crates anymore, I can’t even find the highway.”
“Forget the highway, I haven’t seen a single beast either. What does this even mean?”
“No idea. We were supposed to be on a survival highway, now it feels more like wilderness survival.”
“...”
After more than a day, everyone remained in a state of confusion.
No one knew the purpose behind bringing them here.
To build a beautiful planet?
They checked the inquiry panel, but it offered no information.
Leaning back on the sofa, Lin Mu himself was unsure what to make of it.
Through the side window, Lin Mu gazed outside.
They had found a dirt road, with the ocean on one side and overgrown weeds on the other.
The scenery was indeed monotonous.
Suddenly, a strange sound buzzed.
Lin Mu’s eyes widened instantly.
What had he seen?
A massive fish leapt out of the water.
Lin Mu hurried forward, grabbing the walkie-talkie. “Look! That fish in the ocean to the left!”
“Holy crap! That’s huge!”
“Is that a whale?”
“Whales with horns on their heads?”
“Maybe it’s a whale, and those aren’t horns—they could be stacked barnacles.”
Lin Mu pressed his forehead against the rear window to get a better look.
The giant creature splashed water as it fell back in; it was easily over a hundred meters long.
Its shape certainly resembled a whale, but it was too far away to be certain.
What mattered was that this planet definitely harbored life.
After rushing half a day yesterday without encountering a single living being, he had assumed this was a lifeless world.
He thought it was purely a battle between convoys.
“Report! Two forked paths ahead. Which way should we take?”
The convoy stopped.
Lin Mu approached the driver’s seat and examined the multimedia display.
To the left was a compressed road; to the right, a dirt path like the one they were on.
“Shuyi, you decide.”
Faced with such choices, Lin Mu preferred to leave the decision to Shuyi.
Shuyi looked at the two paths helplessly.
No resource crates anywhere, yet still asked to choose.
After careful consideration, she picked the dirt road, and the convoy pressed onward.
Lin Mu continued reading the chat messages.
“What the hell! Look at what I found. Image.JPG”
“That’s a convoy too? Isn’t that wood going to break with one hit?”
“Bro, aren’t you looking at the main point? What’s that weird creature ahead?!”
A gigantic lizard covered in scales!
“Bullets don’t work on this convoy at all. Only bullets coated with mythril are effective. I suggest everyone coat their bullets with a layer of mythril.”
Lin Mu groaned inwardly. What was going on here? How were these strange creatures even appearing?
And those enemy vehicles were merely ordinary horse-drawn carriages—how could their defense be so strong?
The person who posted the message didn’t follow up, but they were surely still alive.
After all, no red warning messages had appeared.
Lin Mu rubbed his chin thoughtfully. Was that vehicle native to this planet, or were they survivors like them?
Why did it seem like the other side was stronger?
They could resist bullets, but not mythril-coated ones.
It seemed the effects of mythril still had room for development.
Meanwhile, more and more convoys were encountering danger, and Lin Mu soon faced the same situation.
“Brother Mu, we’ve encountered… well, a convoy ahead, but their clothing looks somewhat medieval. What should we do?”
A convoy of ten people appeared on the screen.
Lin Mu sat in the driver’s seat. “Clear the way, I want to take a look.”
The vehicles parted, allowing Lin Mu’s car to move to the front.
“Who are you people?”
The people from the opposing convoy exchanged glances, then shook their heads.
Lin Mu narrowed his eyes, unsure if they didn’t understand or simply refused to speak.
At that moment, a blonde woman wearing a blue robe jumped down from a horse-drawn carriage, holding a crystal ball.
“Hello, may I ask who you are?”
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow. He could actually understand her.
He glanced at the crystal ball—could it be that the device was how she communicated?
“Who are you?”
“We are travelers from afar, heading to the Xius Manor. Do you know where it is?”
Manor?
Was she joking?
Could these people be fakes?
Without a panel display, he couldn’t be sure.
“We don’t know where the manor is. How about clearing a path?”
Lin Mu picked up his walkie-talkie. “Everyone, ready your heavy machine guns. When I open fire, don’t hold back on your bullets.”
Whether they were natives or from another planet, killing them would pose no problem.
Being good-looking wouldn’t save them—they all had to die!
More importantly, this woman was strange. This was a wild, desolate area; there was no way a manor could be nearby.
The blonde woman frowned, her gaze drifting toward the nearby carriage.
She then called for her people to clear the road.
Lin Mu stayed where he was as the other vehicles sped past him.
Watching their calm demeanor, he wondered if he had misjudged them.
