"Please select a mission..."

Lin Mu ignored the voice and turned to Anna. "Have you been here before? Is it always like this?"

He gestured toward the three blank cards before him. The fronts of the cards were completely empty, and the backs merely showed serial numbers. How was he supposed to choose? Was he expected to pick a lucky number?

Anna shrugged. "I told you, this place is dangerous. It’s said that mission selection has always been like this. To put it bluntly, it’s a forced sale."

Lin Mu scoffed. Did they really think this could stump him? He reached out and chose the number 2 card in the center.

"Mission 2 selected."

"Mission briefing: This is a 24-hour manhunt. The more targets you eliminate, the greater the rewards. Be warned: the targets will fight back. During this mission, death is final."

"Initiating teleportation!"

Thirteen vehicles were engulfed in white light and vanished.

"I hope you have a pleasant time playing with the other group of players."

"What mission did you assign them?" A mechanical female voice appeared abruptly in the void.

"To hunt you down."

As the light faded, the vehicles reappeared in a plaza, facing a dense forest. Lin Mu immediately deployed his cameras to survey the surrounding terrain.

Great, it was all forest. That would make hunting people down quite difficult. If that was the case, he had no choice but to activate his War Machine form.

"Everyone, move in close and click confirm."

Lin Mu’s vehicle transformed into a helicopter, and mechanical linkages sprouted from its sides. Each of the other twelve vehicles transformed into an open component, docking around Lin Mu’s vehicle. A massive aircraft, fifteen meters long and ten meters wide, took shape.

"Captain, what kind of ability is this?"

"Did we just turn into a UFO?"

It certainly looked like one. The rotors began to spin, and the giant machine slowly lifted off. Heavy machine gun barrels emerged from the underside, followed by four artillery cannons. This form would definitely make the hunt easier.

Lin Mu thought for a moment and opened his Modification skill. He hadn't installed laser emitters on those four cannons yet. However, when he opened the interface and looked at the cross-section diagram, he froze. He rubbed his eyes, unsure of what he was seeing.

Holy crap!

The cross-section shown wasn't just for his plane; it was for the entire War Machine.

"Everyone, deploy your weapons."

"Captain, should they come from the top or the bottom?"

"The bottom is fine."

Twelve more gun barrels extended from the underside of the machine. Lin Mu randomly selected one and slotted a laser emitter into it.

"Modify."

As Lin Mu watched with bated breath, a white spinning circle appeared.

It actually worked!

He was invincible! This time, he was truly invincible! He had previously worried that these vehicles would become useless in the later stages, but he never expected they could be upgraded like this.

Who else could compare to this?!

"Captain, what do we do now?"

After combining, each of their individual rooms contained only a screen and some simple buttons; the primary flight controls remained in Lin Mu's vehicle.

"Each of you is responsible for monitoring your own sector. Tell me the moment you spot an enemy."

"Understood!"

Cameras popped up in every corner, providing a 360-degree view with no blind spots. Everyone stared intently at their screens.

Beside Lin Mu, Anna was stunned. It was already absurd enough that the cars had turned into this so-called plane. What was he turning into now? A mobile fortress?

Lin Mu glanced at the screen, and after confirming there was no one nearby, he turned to Anna. "How secure do you think I am right now?"

"It should be... decent, I suppose..."

"What if I activate my defensive formation, too?"

*Hum!*

A pale yellow light flared, enveloping the entire machine. Anna’s mouth twitched. This was just a mission, not a fight to the death. What kind of sane person carries a massive defensive formation around with them?!

The machine drifted slowly through the sky over the forest, with each squad member keeping a close watch on their screens. The machine didn't fly fast, maintaining a slow, steady pace.

"Captain, we’ve spotted a squad moving three kilometers ahead. They look like humans."

"I don't care what race they are. Lock onto them with the laser weapons and fire. Wipe them out."

The targets had spotted Lin Mu’s machine too, but they were merely curious about what it was. Having survived here for so long, they had never seen such a mechanical construct. Before they could figure out how to react, beams of laser fire struck them. A squad of several dozen people was wiped out just like that.

"Report: targets eliminated."

"Understood. Keep observing."

Lin Mu piloted the machine above the squad and deployed a collection arm to rummage through the bodies. Sharp axe blades sliced through their clothing, revealing skin. Lin Mu controlled the arm to strip everything removable into his inventory.

However, he couldn't find the storage space he was expecting. He had even taken their necklaces and rings—how could there be nothing?

Anna watched with curiosity as he shredded the people's clothes, and a sudden realization dawned on her. So, he liked this sort of thing.

"Brother Mu~ if you want to tear clothes, why not pick on the women instead of the men?" She gestured to her own outfit.

Lin Mu’s eye twitched. "Speak properly, or don't make me slap you. Do you know why they don't have any storage items on them?"

Anna quickly straightened up. "Not every squad from every planet has storage space that exists as an external object. Some use their own bodies as storage. The exact location varies from person to person."

Lin Mu looked at the corpses below. Could it be that their storage space was inside their bodies? But it didn't seem to make a difference. Should he cut them open and check?

Under Anna’s horrified gaze, a head appeared in Lin Mu’s hand a moment later, which he tossed into a black hole. Then, a left hand, a right hand, a left foot, and a right foot appeared one by one.

This was what you called multitasking—mission and resources, both handled perfectly. How wonderful.

"What a pity. It would be even better if there were more of them."

Anna gulped. You really shouldn't call yourself human anymore.
