Chapter 67: The Blueprint for the Restraining Collar
Two orbs of light appeared before his eyes. He reached out and popped the first one with his finger.
A golden blueprint dropped to the ground.
Lin Mu’s eyes shone—could it be another robot blueprint?!
He was already quite adept with 001; if he could get another one, it would be nothing short of fantastic.
Stuffing the blueprint into his backpack, he hurried to check it.
[Restraint Collar Blueprint (SS)]
Lin Mu’s pupils contracted—it was actually this!
He’d been pondering how to control people if he were to form a convoy. This was just what he needed.
What surprised him even more was that resources from blind boxes would also double.
If he were to draw a labyrinth...
Lin Mu quickly shook his head. That shouldn’t happen.
Definitely not!
He then opened the second orb, which contained Vehicle Cores Lv1—fourteen in total.
His luck was pretty good.
This was far better than obtaining cores directly from houses.
After all, the cores found in houses didn’t count toward the multiplier.
He opened the workbench to check the materials needed for the Restraint Collar.
[Restraint Collar]: Mithril Ingot x1, Universal Material x2, Electronic Component x2, Rubber x1
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow—he hadn’t expected the materials to be this simple.
The effect and the cost were truly disproportionate.
Without another word, Lin Mu crafted thirty as spares.
Every time he caught someone, he’d put one on them—no big deal.
As he continued on the road, the encounters with houses became more frequent.
Perhaps it was because time was running out, or maybe he was headed in the right direction.
By half past ten, Lin Mu had come across six houses and acquired eight Lv1 Vehicle Cores.
He glanced at the time and stopped the car.
With an estimated thirty minutes to an hour left until he was out, there was no need to look any further.
Lin Mu tossed some cooking ingredients to the back.
“Take care of dinner yourselves. If you don’t know how to make something, ask 001.”
“All right.”
Jiang Ying and the others had come down around nine.
It was safe to say they hadn’t slept so comfortably in a long time.
In just two days, Shu Xin and Shu Yi had already grown accustomed to this way of life.
Let alone Jiang Ying and her two companions.
As for Wang Changjun, he was yawning incessantly, occasionally twitching.
In his state, even if he wanted to rest properly, it was hopeless.
Lin Mu opened the trading center and arched an eyebrow.
It seemed there were quite a few people with cores.
He’d obtained ten Lv1 cores, six Lv2 cores, and a single Lv3 core.
As for the antidotes, he’d exchanged them all.
Absolutely perfect.
He then opened the regional channel, and his face darkened.
“Damn! Some idiot actually bought that fool’s goods? You’re just helping a villain.”
“What do you know? If I don’t buy it now, once I get out, I won’t even be able to drive a kilometer.”
“Isn’t that profiteer the one who’s always selling stuff? He seems to have endless supplies—is he in cahoots with the game or something?”
“...”
You’re the fool. You’re the profiteer.
Lin Mu promptly blacklisted these people, vowing never to sell them anything again.
How could he be called a profiteer? This was regular market fluctuation, plain and simple.
...
Gazing at the surrounding magma, this round of the game was finally over.
Today was also the seventh day, signaling the end of this disaster.
Lin Mu stretched and turned to look behind him. “As always, when we reach Magma Town, you drive a car.”
Shu Yi nodded.
With the gear Lin Mu had provided, the outside temperature was of no concern.
As for the other car, Lin Mu glanced at the still-twitching Wang Changjun.
This one would need to be swapped out.
He turned to the chubby boy. “Chubby, you drive one too—here’s a core for you.”
He tossed a Lv1 core to the boy.
Chubby beamed. “Thanks, Bro Mu!”
Lin Mu smiled and shook his head. If only everyone could be as easygoing as Chubby.
At half past three in the afternoon, they reached the first town of the day.
He’d thought he’d return to where he had started, but the first destination was still five hundred kilometers away.
That was a pain.
Bang bang!
Two cars appeared on the highway, one of which belonged to Wang Changjun.
“The materials and gasoline are ready for you—get the car fixed up first.”
Seizing the opportunity, Lin Mu added Chubby to the convoy, bringing the fleet up to three vehicles.
Once everything was set, Lin Mu drove to the first box and opened it.
[Congratulations! You’ve opened a Black Iron Resource Box. You’ve obtained 500L of gasoline and 20 antidotes.]
Ten times the supplies!
He glanced at the vehicle core—the car could now carry up to eight people.
The fuller the vehicle, the more supplies he’d get.
However...
It was tough to find enough people.
His entire squad now numbered only seven. If he’d known, he wouldn’t have killed off Zhang Qian.
A twinge of regret crept into Lin Mu’s heart.
He could only hope to encounter more vehicles or, ideally, an entire convoy.
Heh heh!
He glanced at the Restraint Collars in his backpack, a grin spreading across his lips.
When the time came, he’d fit a whole convoy with these silver collars...
Heh heh... cough, cough, better rein it in.
He would be the one with absolute authority.
After clearing out all the resource boxes in this neighborhood, Chubby and Shu Yi returned to their cars, which Lin Mu then stowed away.
Though his resources were abundant, he preferred to use as little as possible.
The fuel consumption in flight mode was still unknown. If it turned out to be excessive, that would spell trouble.
At seven in the evening, he visited another small town. By the time he wrapped up, it was after eight.
With less than four hours left in the week, Lin Mu looked over his resources and selected a generous amount of vegetables and meat.
On the final day of the disaster, a proper celebration was in order.
He left the cooking to the women.
His gaze lingered on Wang Changjun. He couldn’t get rid of him just yet, which was a pity.
If not for the high demand for people, he’d have disposed of him long ago.
...
At half past eleven that night, the others had already retired to the third floor.
Lin Mu lingered in the driver’s seat with 001.
He scrolled through the regional chat, waiting for midnight.
If that voice didn’t sound at midnight, he’d go to bed.
“We’ve been through both low and high temperatures. Logically, next should be earthquakes and tsunamis, or perhaps polar day and night?”
“Are you dumb? We’ve got antidotes and gas mask blueprints. What else could it be? I honestly don’t know how you’ve survived this long.”
“Don’t bother guessing—next week is a break.”
“...”
Time slipped by, and midnight arrived.
“Congratulations to all players who have survived so far. I am quite pleased. Are you eager to know what awaits you next week?
Don’t be impatient—I’ll tell you now.
The disaster you’ll face next is... I’ll announce it tomorrow at nine in the morning. Hahaha...”
The corner of Lin Mu’s mouth twitched. Was there something wrong with this guy?
That was all he had to say?
Lin Mu shook his head. “001, let’s get some sleep.”
