A thousand meters was roughly the length of five city blocks, and the number of buildings within these five blocks was anything but small. After five minutes of searching, they still hadn’t caught sight of their target.

“Captain, this is proving a bit tricky. Do you think they know how strong we are and chose this method on purpose?”

If this were outside, it would be over in ten seconds. There was no way they’d be searching for half a day like this.

Just then, Shu Xin returned. “No luck—there’s simply no sign of them. Could they be hiding on the rooftop?”

It wasn’t impossible. While the infrared detector was useful, its range was limited. What a bunch of lunatics—why bother hiding like this? If they had any guts, they’d fight head-on! This mode was a mess, through and through.

“Let’s just blow it up with grenades. If one isn’t enough, I’ll bet a hundred will do the trick,” Lin Mu said, hauling out crates of grenades one after another.

In a distant building, James and his team were hunkered down.

“James, we can’t just hide forever—we need to face them!”

“Jack, use your head, will you? It’s perfect for us to shoot down from above. Why go looking for trouble?” James shrugged indifferently.

“He’s right, Jack. We don’t have any heavy firepower, just these rifles. Waiting is our best bet—what the hell are those guys even using?”

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A building collapsed before their eyes. Jack swallowed hard. “Are you sure we should just wait here?”

“Of course. Even if they’re blowing up our building, they’ve got to get close. They can’t just bomb us from a hundred meters away. Look, they’re coming—get ready to fire!”

Peering through the window, they spotted Lin Mu’s group. They took aim and fired, ignoring whatever defensive gear their opponents wore. All they needed was a shot to the arms or legs and victory was theirs.

Rat-tat-tat!

Hearing gunfire, Lin Mu immediately ducked behind a massive boulder. The other two reacted just as swiftly.

“Mu, what now?”

“Blow them to hell!”

Even if they had to toss grenades one by one, they’d bring the building down eventually. After all, these were high-explosive grenades.

Boom! Boom!

Each blast sent debris flying, but the damage to the building was minimal. Realizing they were unharmed, Jack and his team pinned Lin Mu’s group down in two spots.

Whoosh!

Using her high agility, Shu Xin darted over to Lin Mu.

“How about I just dump all these crates into the lobby and detonate them at once?”

Throwing them one at a time was getting nowhere.

“Just be careful,” Lin Mu replied.

There were four crates in total, which Shu Xin methodically placed throughout the lobby.

“Oh hell, they’re moving grenades!” someone shouted.

“James, let’s get out of here—this building’s not going to hold.”

One or two grenades didn’t worry them, but all of them at once? No telling if the place would survive.

But Lin Mu’s team gave them no chance to react. One after another, grenades were hurled into the lobby.

BOOM!

A tremendous explosion rocked the building. The lobby walls shattered, and a crack crept slowly upward.

Relieved, Lin Mu let out a breath. No, from now on, they’d need to stock up on explosives. If they ever ran into terrain like this again, they’d blast their way through.

Two minutes later, the building began to tilt and then collapsed to the ground.

“You two, be careful. If you see anyone, shoot to kill.”

They’d used up two thousand grenades—a staggering amount. If these hadn’t been high-explosives, even more might have been necessary. The only reason the buildings fell so easily was that they were already unstable. If they’d been sound, it would’ve taken at least three thousand grenades to bring one down.

It was all luck.

Ten minutes later.

“Mu, Captain, we found them—they’re here.”

“Finish them off. If not for their choice of mode, we wouldn’t have wasted so much time.”

Rat-tat-tat!

The last survivor was killed.

[ Ding! Congratulations to China player Lin Mu for killing Eagle Sauce player James. Obtained 80% of the opponent’s supplies, 80% of their convoy’s resources, and captured 11 prisoners. ]

The battle over, the three were teleported back to Lin Mu’s vehicle.

“Are you all alright?” he asked.

“We’re fine, how could anything have happened? We slaughtered them!” Shu Xin replied with a bright smile.

A flash of light, and a wooden treasure chest appeared in the open area of the room.

No way—could all those people and vehicles really fit in here?

Carrying the chest outside, Lin Mu opened it without hesitation.

Poof! A cloud of smoke rose.

There were eleven vehicles in total.

“Mu, are you sure you don’t want to keep the prisoners on the third floor?” Shu Xin recalled that he used to like taking prisoners.

“No, they smell too much.”

Even if they were on the third floor, he wasn’t interested.

He regretted not keeping those Sakura people after all. Who knew if he’d ever meet them again? The previous Sakura team had long since been replaced by people from other countries, and those original ones had already been sent to the Western Paradise.

“Kill them all,” Lin Mu ordered, pointing at the unconscious captives. There was no space left in his convoy, and keeping them would serve no purpose.

“Can’t we sell them at the trading center?” Shu Yi asked, gesturing to the unconscious prisoners.

Huh?

Lin Mu rubbed his chin. That probably wasn’t allowed. After a moment’s thought, he decided to ask the system.

[......]

Perhaps his question was too outrageous—the system took a while to respond.

[Currently, living beings cannot be sold.]

Lin Mu shrugged. “No can do. Go fetch the others and deal with them.”

“Yes, sir.”

“You two, come with me.”

Back in the room, Lin Mu had 001 hand each of them a drink.

“Alright, is there anything you want? As long as it’s reasonable, I’ll grant it.”

“Um, could I have a female prisoner?” Zhang Qian asked quietly.

What?

Lin Mu looked at him in bewilderment. I’m offering to grant your wish, and you ask for a woman? Are you kidding me?

“If it’s too difficult, never mind,” Zhang Qian added.

Lin Mu waved him off. “I think there’s one outside. If you like her, take her to your vehicle. But I’m warning you, don’t let it affect your work.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely—”

“Mu, it’s all taken care of,” Shu Xin interrupted.

Zhang Qian’s grin froze on his face. So the job was done that quickly?

Suppressing a laugh, Lin Mu cleared his throat. “Alright, if you want one, wait till next time. Otherwise, pick something else.”

Zhang Qian thought for a moment. The truth was, there wasn’t much he wanted right now.

“I’ll wait for next time,” he said. As for the three women here, he didn’t dare ask for them.

Lin Mu shook his head in exasperation. The man was clearly ruled by his desires.

He then turned to Shu Xin. “What about you? Is there anything you want?”

Shu Xin glanced at Zhang Qian, then cleared her throat. “My sister and I want these collars removed. My sister still hasn’t used her opportunity.”

Lin Mu shook his head. “That’s not possible—it’s not reasonable.”

He could grant anything, except for that.
