Chapter 60: The Little Cabbage Chose the Pig
[If I remember correctly, the richest man’s name is Huo Yan Fang…]
[True—family owns a mine!]
[He must be a branch of the Huo family, otherwise he wouldn’t be in entertainment]
[You’re focusing on the wrong thing! Lu and Huo Yan Sui are way too close]
[Bai Lu, you’re still young, no romance allowed! Leave the handsome guys for your older sisters!]
[My blood pressure is through the roof—Lu is the classic people-pleaser, look at how she fawns over Huo Yan Sui!]
[Bai Lu deserves to be cherished, even if the richest man himself comes, she shouldn’t be his maid!]
[Bai Lu, stand up for yourself!!!]
[Stop catering to others!!!]
Bai Lu couldn’t see the barrage of comments, and continued to run around taking care of Huo Yan Fang.
Huo Yan Fang took her wrist and made her sit beside him. “I’ve already recovered from my fever. Rest for a while.”
Bai Lu handed him her child’s water bottle hanging from her neck. “Then drink a bit more water.”
Huo Yan Fang removed his mask, and she passed him the bottle cap, blowing on it gently. “Drink slowly, it’s a little hot.”
The comments exploded again.
[Holy—!!! A face like a god!!!]
[That looks!!!]
[Unfairly handsome]
[I seriously suspect Bai Lu is attracted to his face]
[Lol, no need to guess, she absolutely is]
[She’s admitted it herself—she’s a sucker for looks]
Shen Xinluo finally arrived.
Upon hearing they were short five hundred for the hotel, she cried.
Zu Xin’en lent her money, and she cried again.
Even after everyone sat down for dinner, she kept crying.
Bai Lu slammed her hand on the table. “Stop crying! Your parents aren’t dead yet!”
Shouted at, Shen Xinluo didn’t even dare make a sound.
The comments chimed in:
[Yes!]
[Her endless crying is so annoying, is she mourning or something!]
[Bai Lu, lay into Shen Xinluo for us!]
From noon until late at night, everyone was famished.
To save money, they didn’t even dare go to a restaurant, settling for convenience store bentos and rice balls.
Taste didn’t matter, as long as they could fill their stomachs.
Bai Lu thought, her celestial boy was, after all, a Huo family member—a pampered young master raised on delicacies. With determination, she bought him a boxed sushi, and only picked a single rice ball for herself.
A tiny bit of white rice with a strip of seaweed—that was her entire dinner.
Huo Yan Fang looked at the rice ball in her hand and pushed the sushi toward her. “You eat.”
“I’m not hungry,” Bai Lu said, smiling as she chewed her rice ball. “I ate a lot of snacks on the plane. Ah Sui, you eat. You’re sick, so even if it’s not tasty, you have to force yourself to finish it.”
Huo Yan Sui glanced casually at the camera and ate slowly.
Shen Xinluo only had one rice ball, her stomach growling. She noticed that only Zu Xin’en treated her kindly and went to him for more, pouting, “En-ge, can I have another rice ball? I’m really hungry.”
Zu Xin’en, helpless, bought her another rice ball—two hundred yen.
Shen Xinluo, being a girl, didn’t eat much; two rice balls were enough. She was no longer hungry.
But the boys had bigger appetites. They ate the cheapest bentos, but to get full cost quite a bit.
With four days left, Zu Xin’en and Di Jia’er were afraid to run out of money later and didn’t dare eat their fill.
Lin Ye didn’t eat enough either, but knowing his family’s financial difficulties, he swallowed his hunger.
Back in Lin Ye and Zu Xin’en’s shared room, everyone discussed tomorrow’s route.
Di Jia’er said, “Let’s settle it, the hotel’s remote, so let’s meet at seven in the morning and head to the first attraction. Is that okay?”
Everyone nodded.
It was already one in the morning—only six hours to sleep.
After finalizing plans, everyone returned to their rooms.
Bai Lu reclaimed her private phone and headed back. Just as she was about to call her father as scheduled, his call came in first.
There was a camera in her room; guests could decide when to turn it on or off.
Bai Lu smiled sweetly at the camera. “Good night, everyone!”
She switched off the camera and answered the call. “Dad, did you see Ah Sui? Isn’t he especially handsome?”
Lu Yiting asked, “With your appetite, you’re like a pig. You only had that tiny rice ball for dinner—were you full?”
Bai Lu, already hungry to the point of stomach pain, could barely hold it in. Hearing her father’s voice, she couldn’t suppress it anymore.
She was terribly aggrieved. “Dad, I’m so hungry, my stomach hurts.”
Her father cursed. “You bought sushi for him and only ate a lousy rice ball yourself! Serves you right! If you let yourself suffer for a man, you deserve to starve!”
After scolding her, his tone softened a little. “Hold out for one more night. I’ll have the show give you a special meal tomorrow.”
He did care for her, after all.
Bai Lu sniffled. “Dad, don’t. We agreed not to reveal our relationship for now. If you call the crew, people will suspect we’re father and daughter.”
Lu Yiting replied, “Do as you please!”
And hung up.
Bai Lu: “…………”
Her father’s temper was truly terrible.
Not a minute later, Gu Pianran called. Bai Lu still had her toothbrush in her mouth and mumbled, “Gu Sushu, what’s up?”
Gu Pianran’s voice was especially gentle. “Lu, if you’re hungry, there are some cookies and chocolates in your coat pocket. Not many, so eat them quietly, okay?”
Bai Lu opened her suitcase and pulled out her coat. Not only the pockets, even the hood was stuffed with cookies and chocolates.
The old fox was both cunning and attentive; even if the crew checked the guests’ luggage, they’d never lay out every piece of clothing.
“Wuwuwu, Gu Sushu, Lu will always love you!”
Gu Pianran laughed. “Rest early, good night.”
Bai Lu spat out her toothpaste foam. “Gu Uncle, you should sleep early too, don’t work too late.”
Gu Pianran looked at the mountain of paperwork on his desk. “Gu Uncle is already in bed.”
“Gu Uncle, good night.”
“Good night.”
Bai Lu munched through a box of cookies, her stomach finally stopped aching, and she could sleep.
At six, the alarm woke Bai Lu.
She washed up in five minutes and headed out.
She knocked first on Huo Yan Fang’s door; he was still asleep and opened it a few minutes later.
“Ah Sui, it’s me.” Bai Lu darted inside, closed the door, and left the camera crew outside.
On screen, only the shut door was visible.
Back home, it was still five in the morning.
The livestream didn’t have a huge audience, but it wasn’t small either.
[?????]
[Lu and Huo Yan Sui are acting strange]
[Really strange!!!!]
[It’s over, our girl’s going to be snatched away]
[Seriously, it should be our girl snatching Huo Yan Fang]
[Little cabbage snatches the pig?]
