Chapter 62: Someone... Someone Living Quite Comfortably
The viewers in the livestream room were truly speechless.
[She’s just putting on an act, really forcing it.]
[So, what, are you saying our Jial misunderstood you?]
[Seriously, Shen Xinluo is just full of drama.]
[Can’t we please get Shen Xinluo off the show?]
[Because of Shen Xinluo, I really can’t keep watching this.]
[Whenever I see Shen Xinluo, all I can think of is that little video of hers.]
[Gotta admit, Shen Xinluo’s figure is enough to give anyone a nosebleed.]
[Hahaha, has everyone seen Shen Xinluo’s little video?]
[Wait, what video? Link please!!!!]
And so, the little video of Shen Xinluo and Yu Fuqing was being frantically shared all day once again.
The group leader, Zu Xinen, stepped forward. “It’s about lunchtime now. Jial, this snack street you mentioned, is it far?”
Di Jial looked at her phone’s navigation. “Not too far, about twenty minutes on foot.”
When Shen Xinluo heard they’d have to walk again, her expression changed. “Can’t we take the subway? We have the weekly pass, so it’s free anyway.”
Di Jial replied, “The nearest subway station is already over ten minutes away by foot. After you get off, you still have to walk. All that hassle—it’s easier to just walk straight there.”
Shen Xinluo was on the verge of tears but had no other choice. “Then... can I rest for a bit?”
Bai Lu sneered, “You’re not hungry anymore, is that it?”
Shen Xinluo said, “Xiaolu, are you still mad at your big sister?”
Bai Lu smiled sweetly and retorted, “Shouldn’t I be?”
Shen Xinluo whimpered and turned away to wipe her tears, hoping to gain sympathy and paint Bai Lu as temperamental and mean-spirited.
Unfortunately for her, no one was buying it.
The crowd could see right through her!
Even Zu Xinen was getting impatient. “Shen Xinluo, are you going to rest or not? If you’re not, we’ll leave now. The next spot is quite a trek, let’s not waste time.”
Traveling should be a pleasant affair, but with Shen Xinluo around, it felt like a funeral procession—always on the verge of tears.
It was exhausting!
Shen Xinluo said, “I’ll go along with everyone.”
Zu Xinen nodded, “Then let’s go.”
Once they arrived at the snack street, everyone decided to take a look around first and see which place was good value.
They’d already skipped two meals—if they didn’t eat soon, someone was going to end up in the hospital.
This meal could not be skimped on; they absolutely had to eat their fill.
Shen Xinluo simply couldn’t walk any further. “Can I wait here for you all?”
Bai Lu replied, “You’re such a troublemaker. Once we find a restaurant, someone will have to come back to fetch you. Everyone’s tired—can’t you just push through a little longer?”
Shen Xinluo’s tears finally fell, her feet were in pain. “Xiaolu, I really can’t walk anymore. My feet are covered in blisters.”
Bai Lu raised an eyebrow. “And that’s my fault? Was I the one who told you to go sightseeing in high heels?”
Shen Xinluo was beyond aggrieved. “I know, Xiaolu, I’ll try my best.”
The comments exploded.
That’s exactly how she should be put in her place!
She doesn’t deserve any mercy!
Who goes traveling in high heels? At best, it’s vanity. At worst, it’s a total lack of team spirit.
Some viewers even criticized Bai Lu for being too unsympathetic, but those comments were immediately shot down by the others.
Shen Xinluo hobbled along at the back, her feet in real pain. “Brother En, can you help me?”
Lin Ye immediately leaned into Zu Xinen’s arms, “Brother En, I’m exhausted!”
Zu Xinen supported Lin Ye and shook his head at Shen Xinluo. “Sorry.”
Di Jial’s mouth twitched.
As expected, Shen Xinluo then turned to Di Jial, putting on a sweet voice. “Brother Jial...”
Di Jial looked pleadingly at Bai Lu. “Xiaolu, are you tired? Do you want me to carry you—”
Bai Lu clung tightly to Huo Yanfang’s arm. “Asui, let’s walk faster.”
Di Jial could no longer take it, muttering roughly, “Such a drama queen.”
He had no choice but to walk over and offer Shen Xinluo his arm.
Shen Xinluo pressed herself against him, her chest squashing against his arm. “Thank you, Brother Jial.”
Di Jial ignored the cameras, his face dark. “Keep some distance from me!”
In the livestream chat, Di Jial’s fans were already cursing Shen Xinluo’s ancestors in every way imaginable.
Bai Lu had been walking all morning in canvas shoes, her legs sore. She hung herself on Huo Yanfang’s arm. “Asui, aren’t you tired? If you are, let’s take a break.”
Huo Yanfang supported her. “I’m not tired.”
Bai Lu rolled her eyes and collapsed into his arms. “I’m about to die of exhaustion.”
Huo Yanfang asked, “Should I carry you?”
Before Bai Lu could answer, Di Jial jumped in. “Asui, you’re still recovering. You should rest. I’ll carry Xiaolu!”
“...” Bai Lu replied, “No thanks. You’re an idol, I don’t want your fans attacking me. Stay away from me.”
[This is hilarious, Di Jial would rather carry Bai Lu than help Shen Xinluo.]
[Love this double standard!]
[Shen Xinluo is just out to seduce everyone, wherever she goes!]
[I’m begging you, Shen Xinluo, have a little shame.]
[Don’t worry, Xiaolu, Jial’s fans won’t attack you. You’d be saving our idol!]
[It’s the first time I’m actually hoping my idol will carry another woman.]
[Me too...]
In the end, Bai Lu wound up on Huo Yanfang’s back.
She leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Asui, thank you. Am I heavy?”
Huo Yanfang smiled lightly. “Very light.”
Just then, a waiter from a nearby high-end Japanese restaurant rushed out, blocking their path. He chattered away in a stream of Japanese, tugging on Huo Yanfang’s sleeve and insisting on pulling him inside.
Bai Lu, still on his back, was startled. “What’s going on? Are they about to scam us? I’m telling you, you folks living the good life here—forced sales are a no-go!”
Di Jial, who was the only one with any Japanese, struggled through a conversation and finally figured it out.
“This restaurant is running a promotion. The thousandth customer to walk by gets a free lunch. Asui, you just happened to be number one thousand.”
Bai Lu immediately said, “Go tell them I’m on Asui’s back, so I count too! If we can save one person’s meal, we should!”
She was shameless in her thrift.
Di Jial passed on the message, and the restaurant agreed without hesitation.
Lin Ye’s eyes widened. “Asui, your luck is just unbelievable!”
Zu Xinen laughed. “Eat your fill, then. This place is very famous.”
It was the most renowned Japanese restaurant on the snack street, and also the most expensive.
Bai Lu dug five thousand yen out of her purse and handed it to Zu Xinen. “Brother En, you all get something nice to eat.”
Her expression was so pained it was almost comical.
Zu Xinen waved her off. “You two go enjoy your meal.”
Shen Xinluo swallowed. “Xiaolu, could you maybe try to sneak some food out for the rest of us?”
Bai Lu raised an eyebrow. “Do you have any shame? That’s stealing. If they catch me, they won’t say Bai Lu lacks manners—they’ll say all our countrymen lack manners! If you embarrass yourself at home, so be it, but you want to disgrace us abroad too? Shen Xinluo, do you have any sense at all?”
