Chapter 95: Get Her!!!!
The walk from the beach to the parking lot was neither long nor short—just a leisurely after-dinner stroll that took a little over twenty minutes.
Bai Lu received a round of lectures from her brothers in turn.
The message was simple: she was not allowed to be so unrestrained in front of the cameras anymore. She had to think about her image.
If she did not like someone, polite distance was enough; there was no need to go around making enemies.
Even the dim-witted younger brother, Lin Ye, came up to her and said, “Sister Little Deer, you were really way too reckless today!”
Li Huan seemed to have something he wanted to say, but swallowed it back.
Perhaps because they were signed to the same agency, but this was their first real meeting.
Some things, unless a relationship had reached a certain intimacy, simply should not be said aloud.
Bai Lu took the initiative and leaned closer. “Brother Huan, if you’ve got something to say, just say it. I treat you the same as Brother En and the others, so you can scold me if you want.”
Li Huan pressed his beautiful lips together. “I won’t say it. Jiar and Xin En already did.”
Bai Lu pouted. “You’re still keeping your distance from me.”
Li Huan smiled helplessly. “Did you look at your phone?”
Bai Lu shook her head. “No. I knew I’d be dragged across the trending topics, so why would I go looking for trouble? I could guess it already.”
Li Huan said, “Then you guessed wrong.”
Bai Lu froze solid. “Huh?”
They still weren’t tearing into her?
Tsk. These netizens really weren’t up to much.
Li Huan said, “There were definitely people criticizing you, but nowhere near enough to get you dragged onto the trending topics. You’re the nation’s darling daughter, after all. People are very forgiving of you. They all think you’re just young and straightforward, that you don’t know how to hide anything.”
It was just that the fans of Little Deer and Liu Nana had been fighting fiercely.
The scene was not only deadlocked, but ugly too.
Still, with both agencies stepping in at the same time, they restrained the fans who were getting too worked up and guided the rest, so the war of words ended fairly quickly.
At any rate, nothing too serious had broken out. The fans on both sides were relatively restrained.
As for the undercurrents beneath the surface, that was harder to say.
Bai Lu clicked her tongue. “No, I still think everyone ought to be a little harsher with me. Only a stick can raise a dutiful child. If you spoil me too much, I’ll get arrogant.”
She did know the reasoning, didn’t she?
Then why had she just said those clearly provocative things?
Li Huan sighed. “Little Deer, I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but I keep feeling like you don’t really like Liu Nana.”
Bai Lu admitted it readily. “I hate her. Because she used vile methods on a sister I liked.”
Even though it had happened in her previous life, she really did hold grudges.
Li Huan nodded and asked no further. Instead, he reminded her, “No matter how much you dislike Liu Nana, don’t show it too obviously. It won’t be good for you.”
She could not rely on the fans’ affection to do as she pleased.
Otherwise, that affection would disappear little by little.
Besides, Liu Nana had someone backing her. Even if Bai Lu had Young Master Yu protecting her, if they really fell out, the issue could certainly be handled—but there would be many more troubles afterward.
There was truly no need to make enemies on purpose.
Bai Lu tilted her head as if she had thought of something, then smiled sweetly. “I’m very sensible, and I’m very well-behaved. I won’t go crooked, and I won’t be spoiled rotten. So when I do feel like being willful, everyone has to be patient with me.”
It was already night; even the sun had gone down.
And yet Li Huan was still struck by that sweet smile, so bright it made his eyes blink.
Little Bai Lu was unbeatable in her cuteness.
“Got it.” Li Huan unconsciously raised a hand and patted her head. “But you need to explain things properly to President Yu. He seems really angry.”
Bai Lu raised a brow. “Yu Fuqing asked you about it?”
Li Huan said, “President Yu didn’t call the production team to have them make sure you and Qiao Qiao ate less. He called to ask them to take better care of you, and to avoid arranging you and Liu Nana together for tasks if possible. I happened to be nearby and overheard a few things.”
Lowering his voice, Li Huan told her, “President Yu was shouting very loudly on the phone. I don’t know why, but he just misunderstood the situation. He thought Liu Nana and Shen Xinluo had been ganging up on you behind the cameras, and that was why you said those things about Liu Nana so bluntly in front of the lens.”
Bai Lu did not even bother to mention Yu Fuqing.
Whatever Yu Fuqing did had nothing to do with her. She did not care.
Bai Lu grinned, waggling her eyebrows. “Brother Huan, so you just happened to be nearby, huh? You were worried about me, so you sneaked over to eavesdrop!”
Li Huan said, “...I was more concerned about how the internet would tear into you, so I went to the production team to get a phone, and just happened to hear it.”
Bai Lu was relentless. “Then you were still worried about me!”
Li Huan covered his face. “You... why do you not have even a little sense of embarrassment?”
“Because I have no shame,” Bai Lu said very seriously. “I’ve already decided not to act like a human being anymore. So I threw away my face along with everything else.”
Li Huan was speechless.
Bai Lu swayed her little head with obvious smugness. “I just really like the feeling of everyone caring about me, liking me, and indulging me!”
Watching her bouncing away, Li Huan could only shake his head wordlessly.
“Ah...” sighed Zu Xinen as he walked over. “You’d better recognize the true nature of that girl sooner rather than later. Otherwise, she’ll keep leading you around by the nose. That ends with her bullying you and squeezing you dry in every possible way.”
Li Huan asked seriously, “Since you’ve already seen through Little Deer’s true nature, can you avoid being led around by her, and avoid being bullied by her?”
Zu Xinen was speechless.
Di Jiaer patted both of them on the shoulders. “Give it up. Look at me—I’ve already accepted my fate. When Little Deer squeezes me dry or bullies me again, it doesn’t hurt as much anymore.”
Lin Ye turned back in confusion. “What are the brothers talking about?”
Why did the atmosphere around them feel so bleak?
And a little pitiful, even.
Li Huan, Di Jiaer, and Zu Xinen all said in unison, “Children should not ask so many questions.”
Lin Ye: The most pitiable one here is me!
So I am the clown.
When they returned to the water villa, it was pitch black.
It seemed Liu Nana had already gone to bed.
Everyone had been busy all day, and there were still tasks to finish tomorrow, so they each returned to their rooms to wash up and sleep.
Shen Xinluo looked unhappy. “Sister Nana... she seems to have forgotten that we’re sharing a room, and locked the door from the inside.”
The water villa had only four bedrooms.
Eight people, four men and four women. Two per room was just right.
That was how the villa had been booked in the first place—based on two people sharing one bedroom.
But Liu Nana had locked the bedroom door from the inside, leaving Shen Xinluo with nowhere to sleep.
Qiao Qianyi’s face darkened instantly, and she blurted out, “Liu Nana did that on purpose!!!”
Bai Lu’s tone was calm. “Knock on the door. Call her. Shen Xinluo paid for the room, so that bedroom belongs half to Shen Xinluo. Liu Nana has no right to hog it by herself.”
Aside from Lin Ye, who remained oblivious, the other three boys all felt their scalps prickle.
Qiao Qiao had a fiery temper and was highly destructive.
Little Deer was a calm sort of explosive temper, and her destructive power was even greater.
This was bad. Really bad.
If handled poorly, it would become an online fan war.
And the main players would be fighting face to face in real life.
