Chapter 122: Do Me a Favor
“Is there any story behind the title ‘The Most Enchanting Female Saint in the World’?” Feng Shang asked, struggling to suppress the tumult of emotions within him.
This title was rather unusual. The Yu Chu Sect had inherited the seat of saints and had never lacked a saint, allowing it to stand firm in the starry sea, flourishing through the ages.
Yet, this was the first time Feng Shang had ever heard of a “Most Enchanting Female Saint in the World.”
“That Lady Dan Ya, the Sect Leader, is said to have inherited the power of the Source Reversal Manifestation—Ninefold Red. Legend has it that she was born with a natural charm so captivating it left her own mother stunned. Within less than a hundred thousand years, she rose to dominate the spiritual universe, admired by all the talents of the world,” Qing’er explained.
“However, this female saint’s temperament is capricious—at times she exudes countless charms and boundless allure, while at others she is ice-cold and indifferent, treating all living beings as mere grass. No one knows how many divine lords she has toyed with at her fingertips.”
Qing’er glanced at Feng Shang and reminded him, “So later, if Lady Dan Ya comes over, Feng Shang brother, you must absolutely not seek the spotlight.”
Feng Shang had his doubts. With such a formidable female saint, how could he dare to show off? After all, the last time Lianchi took a break, the nine great divine ferrymen of Yu Chu Sect nearly went mad with rage.
This woman’s temperament was unpredictable; if she found out, he wouldn’t be able to get out unscathed this time.
...
“That wretched toad has slipped away...” Huo Zhuo’s expression darkened, unease churning in his heart, especially when he caught the hostile glare Dan Ya cast his way, which inexplicably made him panic.
Alone and facing an enraged female saint, the consequences were becoming too dreadful to imagine.
“That filthy toad is cunning and ruthless enough to set the Divine Mystery ablaze himself. I suppose you have similar tricks. Just in case, I will first ‘convert’ you,” Dan Ya said coldly.
It was the first time someone had played a shell game right under her nose since she assumed this life, and she still felt indignant about it now.
“You want to convert me!” Huo Zhuo’s heart raced with shock. The sect’s survival in the starry sea was not by chance; it had many strange methods.
Conversion was one of them.
The sect boasted a hundred Dao Masters, most of whom had been converted.
Before and after conversion, they were like different people. No matter their previous hostility towards Yu Chu Sect, once immersed in the dazzling and mysterious Dao sound, they would instantly change their nature and develop a strong sense of belonging.
Even more horrifying was that those converted cultivators were fearless and willing to sacrifice themselves at any time for the prosperity of Yu Chu.
“Afraid now?” Dan Ya’s lips curled slightly as she smiled, “Very well, I will convert you slowly. You can struggle and resist as much as you want until, in the end, you completely surrender.”
White mist drifted, shrouding Dan Ya’s features in a hazy veil. Her voice carried a hint of amusement, finding Huo Zhuo’s fear entertaining.
“That woman is a demon!” Huo Zhuo muttered.
...
Huo Zhuo, trembling with fear, looked toward the young man. After much hesitation, he bit his lip and took out a simple purple stone white-hair brush. The brush looked ordinary, with nothing remarkable about it except for a dab of golden ink at the tip.
“Sir!” Huo Zhuo clung to the brush and shouted with a complex expression.
“Is he looking at us?”
“Sir, could it be the Nameless Master?”
Everyone was surprised, exchanging glances before simultaneously turning to the young man.
“How strange. Isn’t that cultivator allied with that woman? Why would he call Nameless Master ‘sir’?”
The young man’s face was calm, his white robe framing black hair. His demeanor was elegant and refined, like an orchid or jade tree in the breeze, bright and clear—he resembled a cultured and amiable scholar.
“Hmm?” Dan Ya narrowed her slender, beautiful eyes. With her vision, she could tell that was merely an ordinary brush. So, who was the ‘sir’ being called for help?
Her gaze swept down, a flicker crossing the boundless starry sky, landing on the silent young man. Suddenly, her eyes sparkled with a burst of light.
“It’s him…”
Dan Ya was secretly shocked. No wonder she had only just noticed—the young man’s presence was so faint, so seamlessly merged with the surrounding heavens and earth.
Only upon clear sight did one realize there was such a person there.
The young man said nothing for a long moment.
Then, with a gentle sigh, he finally spoke, “Little one…”
His voice was soft, ethereal, yet carried an unusual calmness and composure.
Though Huo Zhuo had suspected this, hearing it made his heart feel as if grasped by an invisible hand, his nose tingling with emotion. That sigh from the sir contained a trace of disappointment he could not ignore.
“Sir.”
Huo Zhuo knelt to the ground, words unspoken, afraid to raise his head.
The young man’s black eyes were tranquil, like a breeze brushing through hair. Though clearly the same person, his aura seemed to have undergone a profound transformation.
Feng Shang and the others were stunned, their faces shocked as they stared at the young man in disbelief.
What was this completely different aura, and the sense of something dormant beneath it?
“Lady Dan Ya, will you grant me this favor?” the young man asked, looking toward Dan Ya.
...
“Are you… Hua Sheng?” Dan Ya questioned.
The young man shook his head.
“You’re not?”
As if hearing some joke, Dan Ya sneered, “If you were Hua Sheng, why wouldn’t I grant you this favor? If you’re not, then shut your mouth. You have no place here to speak!”
Her tone grew colder.
“This person calls you ‘sir,’ you call him ‘little one’—could this be some karmic leftover from a past life? Today, this bond clashes; will you sever it or not?”
Dan Ya’s voice echoed through the heavens, soul-stirring and haunting. The last three words cut through the void like a blade, splitting open deep cracks.
“Since ancient times, Yu Chu Sect has upheld sincerity, will, and propriety, teaching against evil and cultivating virtue. Together with the Star Sea Holy Mansion, we have strived for many years. Great merits and virtues lie ahead. When the Sea of Hearts revives, Yu Chu will surely hold three seats.”
The young man did not answer directly but spoke thus.
A flicker of surprise and contemplation crossed Dan Ya’s face before she snorted and fell silent.
The young man smiled slightly and turned to Huo Zhuo.
“Little one, Lady Dan Ya has agreed. You may go. Where you are now is no place for the virtuous. I shall leave you with a word of advice—take care.”
With that, the young man’s fingertips glowed faintly, dispersing into a misty radiance. A fragment of true words drifted forth, flowing into Huo Zhuo’s palm.
“Thank you, sir.”
Huo Zhuo’s eyes reddened with remorse. Without raising his head, he wiped away his tears and did not look back, immediately breaking through the void and leaving.
“I’m dizzy. I don’t understand any of this,” Feng Shang rubbed his head, feeling as if the world was spinning. Everything that had just happened was shrouded in confusion—what was it all about?
“The Nameless Master suddenly became so powerful,” Xiao Huang said, holding Ying’er’s hand. They blinked their big eyes in bewilderment.
Yin Yan and Qing Tian’e were shaken to their cores.
The young ones may not understand, but they knew all too well.
These two—one was the leader of Yu Chu Sect, the other the foremost saint of the star sea.
They were among the most powerful and influential figures in the spiritual universe. If these two clashed, it would surely bring about the destruction of star regions, the collapse of cosmic realms, and the extinction of countless beings.
As their conversation continued, Yin Yan and Qing Tian’e were too terrified to utter a word.
