Chapter 132: Nine-Colored Immortal Soil
"Little leek, can you help me?"
Bai Xiatian's expression shifted as she cradled the plump, vibrant little grass spirit in her hands, asking in confusion, "Even I have forgotten where the Pure Land Sanctuary is. How could a leek like you, rooted on a snowy peak and barely scraping by, possibly know?"
"What's so strange about that? I have a powerful relative called the Heaven-Supporting Grass, who can hold up the sky itself. It often carries me out to play, so I'm very familiar with the sanctuary. Sister Bai, I even had a fleeting encounter with Lord Wind-Listening Grass, you know."
Little Green Leek said this with unmistakable pride.
"Is that so?"
Bai Xiatian's eyes lit up.
"I had no idea you possessed such extensive experience. Truly, one cannot judge a blade of grass by its cover! Lead the way at once. If you find the right place, this big sister will reward you with a piece of candy."
"You got it! Let's head east of the snow peak first."
...
Riding upon a wisp of snowy cloud under the guidance of Little Green Leek, Bai Xiatian crossed region after distinctly seasonal sea of flowers, speeding swiftly toward the sanctuary.
In the morning, the dawn light was brilliant and full of vitality.
In the Pure Land where myriad flowers swayed, rosy rays of light diffused, surrounded by auspicious auras. A faint, refreshing fragrance permeated the air, presenting a scene of boundless prosperity.
"Sister Bai, that's it right ahead. There's a barrier set up by the Divine Venerables outside the Pure Land Sanctuary. We aren't allowed past this point, so I can only bring you this far."
Little Green Leek said from atop Bai Xiatian's shoulder.
"Little Leek, thank you. Here is a piece of rock candy for you. Just keep it in your mouth for a little while each day, and don't be too greedy, otherwise it will freeze your spiritual body."
In high spirits, Bai Xiatian told the green leek as her slender fingers pinched a crystal-blue piece of spiritual rock candy, tossing it playfully toward the little one's mouth.
"Mmph... Gulp, it's so sweet!"
Mumbling indistinctly, Little Green Leek bounced down, the grass blades atop her head swaying left and right as she happily scampered off to play with her friends.
After seeing Little Green Leek off, Bai Xiatian gazed at the barrier not far away, where lightning intertwined and strands of golden electricity surged and darted across it, looking utterly terrifying.
"With this mark, the barrier shouldn't give me a hard time, right? Let's find out."
She stroked the mark on her fair wrist, stood gazing for a moment, and then made up her mind to walk forward.
Hum...
The young girl easily passed through the barrier. The mark on her skin glowed, radiating the aura belonging to Divine Venerable Wu, and the swimming bolts of lightning completely ignored her.
"I made it across."
With clear and bright eyes, Bai Xiatian stepped onto the blooming, flower-strewn soil of the Pure Land Sanctuary. In an instant, various Primordial Qi and Qi of Clarity rushed into her nose and mouth, making her entire body feel light and ethereal.
"Who knows how much arduous cultivation time one could save just by breathing in these auras? The Pure Land truly lives up to its extraordinary reputation." Seizing the opportunity, Bai Xiatian took a few extra deep breaths of the air before beginning her search for Divine Venerable Wu.
In the sky, divine radiances filled the heavens, clouds steamed and mists glowed, and the fluctuations of the master cultivator's laws overflowed, forming a sealed region.
"Up in the sky?"
Bai Xiatian was taken aback. The divine rosy clouds in the sky were far from comparable to the Pure Land's barrier; they were jointly deployed by seven Divine Venerables, and no matter how many heads and arms she had, she would never dare to touch them.
Suddenly, an immortal stone in the distance caught her attention. It was entirely pristine and white, standing about a zhang tall. As she approached the immortal stone, she suddenly heard a rhythmic sound of snoring.
"Who's there?"
Astonished, Bai Xiatian saw a tender green grass drooping its six leaves, while a crystal-snot-bubble continuously expanded and contracted as it slept soundly in a daze.
Right beside this blade of grass was a newly cleared patch of nine-colored soil. Multicolored and swirling with divine power, it looked remarkably stunning, and its surface was slightly moist, as if burying a seed.
"This is... the highest-grade soil."
Bai Xiatian was startled. Nine-colored immortal soil!
Throughout the generations of blooming celestial flora in the flower sea, each had a chance to obtain a single grain of nine-colored immortal soil. Such divine soil could bring the dead back to life and regrow flesh on bones; it was a true treasure of the world, of which even the flower sea possessed very few.
Who could be so generous as to spend so much immortal soil to nurture a single seed?
"Wind-Listening Grass, wake up."
Bai Xiatian shook the sleeping little grass. Having been to the Pure Land before, she was naturally quite familiar with this eccentric plant.
With a soft, muffled pop, the crystal-snot-bubble burst rapidly, and the Wind-Listening Grass woke up in a drowsy, feeble state: "Who is it? Disturbing my sleep."
"It's you, Bai Xiatian."
Glancing at the young girl, the Wind-Listening Grass acted as if it were nothing out of the ordinary, letting out a yawn. Its head was still somewhat groggy; with its somnolent constitution, it felt miserable all over if it didn't sleep for eight or nine hours a day.
"I'm here to find Divine Venerable Wu. She promised to give me an entry token to travel through the spiritual universe." Bai Xiatian blinked her large eyes.
"Yawn, is that so? Just wait... The Divine Venerables are still at the little master's initial blooming... Hoo..." While speaking, the little broken grass actually began to snore, showing distinct signs of continuing its slumber.
"Wait? When am I supposed to wait until?"
Bai Xiatian furrowed her delicate brows.
This journey was one she had prepared for a very long time, the distance was immense, and she might even need to visit her friend Feng Shang in Nine-Star City along the way; she didn't want to be delayed any longer.
"A day or two, probably..."
The little broken grass muttered hazily, its six leaves drooping as it truly drifted off to sleep.
"Fine. Let me ask you something, Wind-Listening Grass. What's the deal with this nine-colored immortal soil beside you? You've just put a single seed in it—did you steal it, perchance?" Suspicion crept across Bai Xiatian's fair face as she revealed a wary expression.
"Nine-colored... immortal soil... Nine-colored immortal soil!"
Hearing the four words "nine-colored immortal soil," the little broken grass that had been dozing off a moment ago instantly woke up, looking as if it had been injected with chicken blood.
"Nonsense! I certainly didn't steal it."
The little broken grass protested indignantly, "This was personally planted here by the First Divine Venerable. The one inside isn't a seed either, but the little master's younger sister, the accompanying Othershore!"
"Accompanying Othershore?"
Bai Xiatian asked in confusion, "Doesn't only one divine flora manifest in each era of the flower sea? Sister Divine Flower is the soul of the Nine Heavens' wishes, so what is this accompanying Othershore?"
"Of course it's also..."
The Wind-Listening Grass was about to reply when it suddenly clamped its mouth shut, realizing it had almost leaked a secret. With an annoyed tone, it snapped, "She is the little master's younger sister, a piece of celestial flora. Because of the little master, she receives special treatment."
"So that's how it is."
Bai Xiatian nodded, then swept her gaze over the seed twice. She saw a pristine, sparkling glow moving across it, brimming with spiritual energy, and its outer shell featured a ring of dreamy purple patterns that looked exceptionally pretty.
"You're staying here to guard this seed, aren't you?"
"That's right..." The little broken grass replied drowsily, truly hindered by its somnolent constitution.
Bai Xiatian secretly clicked her tongue; such an irresponsible guardian, who only knew how to sleep.
"No more talking. You go ahead and wait slowly. In a day or two... Divine Venerable Wu should come out..."
The little broken grass said in fits and starts, finally unable to withstand the overwhelming wave of sleepiness. It blew out a crystal-snot-bubble and drifted off into a deep slumber.
Seeing this, Bai Xiatian let out a soft sigh. She truly couldn't understand why the Divine Venerables would assign such an irresponsible blade of grass to guard a seed.
If a bad person came here and took the accompanying Othershore away, this sleeping little grass probably wouldn't even know it.
