Chapter Eleven: The Crown Prince’s Tears
Han Tianyue’s soul was trapped within the grave, unable to return to its proper place, and his body, bereft of its soul, gradually lost its warmth. Early in the morning, when the students awoke and discovered Han Tianyue’s icy cold body, they were all stunned.
“Han Tianyue is dead!” Feng Shang touched Han Tianyue’s body; the cold, rigid flesh showed no sign of life.
“Han Tianyue is dead!” As soon as these words were spoken, the entire school was thrown into an uproar.
“What!” Like a bolt from the blue, Crown Prince Mao rose to his feet.
“Your Highness, please don’t be too heartbroken!” Fang Zhe stood motionless before Crown Prince Mao.
Crown Prince Mao had always been a reserved person; upon hearing these words, he only asked a single question and then fell silent, uttering nothing more.
“Your Highness!” Watching Crown Prince Mao stand so motionless, Fang Zhe longed to embrace her.
After a quarter of an hour, Crown Prince Mao’s face twitched slightly, and she turned to leave the classroom.
Fang Zhe hurried after her.
Though Han Tianyue’s death came without warning, everyone understood deep down that after yesterday’s battle with Boka, Han Tianyue had barely escaped with his life, and his passing now must be connected to that fight.
Elder Brother Wen Pin led the students in carrying Han Tianyue to the school’s mortuary, carefully arranging his belongings. Then, one by one, they sat in silent vigil before Han Tianyue’s body, accompanying him on his final journey.
“Your Highness!” Feng Shang, standing at the outermost edge, was the first to spot Crown Prince Mao’s figure and called out in a low voice.
Everyone turned to look at Crown Prince Mao.
“Your Highness!” Wen Pin stepped forward, glanced at Crown Prince Mao, and then retreated behind her.
Because Han Tianyue was of the Ice Soul, after his soul departed, his body gradually grew colder, and by now, a layer of ice had sealed his flesh.
Crown Prince Mao gently placed her hand upon the icy surface. A single tear slid from her eye, its burning heat breaking through the frozen layer and falling directly into Han Tianyue’s palm. Han Tianyue’s soul shuddered—“Your Highness!”
Han Tianyue could feel Crown Prince Mao’s tears. He wanted to grasp that tear, but for some reason, it passed through his soul and vanished.
“What’s wrong, young brother?” Hearing Han Tianyue’s cry, the burly ghost asked.
Han Tianyue stood frozen in place, as time itself seemed to stop.
“Tianyue, I will avenge you!” Crown Prince Mao said nothing more, shed no more tears, and simply turned to leave.
Fang Zhe glanced at Han Tianyue, then followed Crown Prince Mao away.
