Chapter Thirty-Four: It Is Them

“You four are Han Tianyue, Mao Xuanzi, Fang Zhe, and Feng Shang?” the dean asked, standing with his back to them as they entered the dean’s office.
The moment Mao Xuanzi heard that voice, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, and his expression changed slightly.
Feng Shang stepped forward and replied, “That’s right. We are the four you mentioned. May we ask why you summoned us?”
As Feng Shang spoke, Han Tianyue and Fang Zhe noticed the change in Mao Xuanzi’s expression. They glanced at him and saw that his eyes had grown distant.
“Actually, it wasn’t we who summoned you!” The dean turned around.
Feng Shang’s expression changed drastically, and he instinctively took half a step back.
Han Tianyue and Fang Zhe raised their heads at the same time. They, too, were stunned by the person before them.
“You are...?”
“Heh, you’ve mistaken me. I’m not your principal. I’m the dean here!” The dean read the shock in their expressions and laughed.
Mao Xuanzi said nothing.
Just then, Boka, Dark, Money, and Demon Serpent appeared before them.
“We’ve finally found you!” Boka said coldly.
“We’ll go back with you,” Mao Xuanzi finally said. He had no intention of resisting.
Boka stepped forward and glanced over Han Tianyue, Mao Xuanzi, Fang Zhe, and Feng Shang before finally fixing his gaze on Mao Xuanzi. He sneered coldly.
“Looks like you’re the only one who hasn’t made any progress!”
“Whether I’ve improved or not is none of your concern!” Mao Xuanzi replied coldly.
“Resentful and ridiculous. Mao Xuanzi, you’re nothing more than an ant before me now. If you hadn’t said that you would return with us, crushing you to death would be as easy as squeezing an insect!” Boka clenched his fist, and a blue-green radiance flickered around it.
Han Tianyue, Mao Xuanzi, Fang Zhe, and Feng Shang could not help shuddering. During this time, Boka had actually broken through the stages of yellow, yellow-green, green, and cyan, reaching the blue-green radiance stage in a single leap.

“Don’t look so surprised. I’m Boka. There’s nothing I can’t do!” Boka raised his head proudly.
Dark cast a cold glance at Mao Xuanzi and said somewhat bitterly, “You really aren’t the same person you used to be. Even those of us who once regarded you as an enemy feel ashamed of you.”
The Crow’s Eye in Dark’s possession had grown even sharper. Clearly, he had made considerable progress as well.
Money was a large, stout man with an honest-looking face, so it was impossible to tell whether he had improved.
Demon Serpent remained as alluring and bewitching as ever. Her strength was just as enchanting and unfathomable as her appearance, making it impossible to determine how powerful she had become.
“I’ve helped you find them. After you return, tell your principal that we will never meet again!” the dean said coldly.
Boka glanced back at the dean of Hanlin Academy, whose appearance was identical to that of their principal, and nodded.
“Then we’ll take them with us.”
“No need to see you out.” The dean turned his chair around, presenting his back to them.
“Let’s go,” Boka said.
Han Tianyue, Mao Xuanzi, Fang Zhe, and Feng Shang had no choice but to follow them.
As they left Hanlin Academy, Han Tianyue thought, “It seems they used the power of the crystal ball to make themselves stronger. I wonder how the old man is doing now.”
For Mao Xuanzi, however, things were different. While at the school, he had grown stronger by absorbing a strange power from the principal’s forbidden grounds. Because that strength had come without effort, breaking through on his own had now become extremely difficult. He had begun to regret joining the Magic Team in the first place.
“That was poison!”
The words escaped Mao Xuanzi’s mouth without warning.
Boka, Dark, Money, Demon Serpent, and Han Tianyue all turned to look at him.
“Hmph. One day, you’ll realize that it was nothing but poison—a trap set by the principal!” Mao Xuanzi grew increasingly agitated as he spoke, hatred appearing on his face.

Boka sneered.
“As long as it makes me stronger, I’d be willing to die right now. Even if it costs me my life, I’d still be willing!”
Mao Xuanzi glared fiercely at him.
Boka raised his head proudly and shouted, “Death is nothing to fear. The truly frightening thing is weakness!”
Mao Xuanzi lowered his head.
Han Tianyue knew the truth behind the matter, so he walked over to Mao Xuanzi and said, “Death is nothing to fear. There are countless weak people in this world, yet they do not necessarily fear it. The most terrifying thing is not even knowing what you truly want.”
Boka, who had always been arrogant, suddenly trembled. But moments later, he had regained his proud composure.
Demon Serpent stepped forward and complained, “Why are you still arguing? Hurry back to school! I told you I didn’t need to come, but the principal insisted that I run all over the place with you. See? Wasn’t it easy to find them?”
As far as Han Tianyue and the others were concerned, obediently returning with Boka and the others was out of the question. They had agreed to go back only because they were still within Hanlin Academy. Now that they had left the academy, they naturally intended to resist.
“Hmph! There’s no way we’re going back with you!” Han Tianyue, Mao Xuanzi, Fang Zhe, and Feng Shang were already prepared for battle.
