Chapter Twenty-One: The Tournament Approaches
Everyone had been busy all night and finally fell into a deep sleep.
Clang, clang, clang—the familiar sound of the bell rang out once more. Han Tianyue, Feng Shang, Fang Zhe, Wen Pin, Aoki, and Dapeng entered the classroom just as they always had, saving their appearance for last.
Today, Counselor Song entered the room with a completely different demeanor; gone was his usual stern and harsh expression, replaced by a kindly and gentle face. He announced ceremoniously, "Today, I am honored to inform you all that the annual Graduation Competition is officially underway. In the past, students rarely had the chance to witness such a grand event, but today, it is held for you. I hope everyone will sign up enthusiastically—let us make this year’s competition a truly earth-shattering spectacle!"
Counselor Song’s words were stirring, but Han Tianyue felt no excitement. He noticed that Prince Mao was absent from the classroom and quietly asked Wen Pin beside him, "Why isn’t the Prince here today?"
Wen Pin didn’t know how to answer.
Feng Shang overheard and quickly scrambled to his feet, shouting, "Mr. Song!"
"What is it? Do you want to sign up?" Counselor Song looked at Feng Shang with delight, as he was the first to volunteer.
But Feng Shang replied, "Mr. Song, I’m not signing up for myself—I’m signing up for Han Tianyue!"
Han Tianyue had no intention of participating, and upon hearing this, he hastily tugged at Feng Shang’s sleeve. But before he could say anything, all the students stood up and applauded, their voices united: "We all nominate Han Tianyue!"
Counselor Song glanced at Han Tianyue and asked, "Han Tianyue, what about you?"
Han Tianyue had no choice but to stand and nod.
"Very well. Are there any others?" The classroom fell silent.
"If not, then I’ll make the nominations myself," Counselor Song sighed, a little resigned. "The first is Feng Shang!"
Hearing this, Feng Shang nearly fainted.
"Teacher, I—" Feng Shang tried to protest.
But Counselor Song’s expression darkened, and Feng Shang fell silent.
"The second is Fang Zhe."
Fang Zhe said nothing.
"For the third—" Just as Counselor Song was about to continue, a voice came from outside the classroom. Everyone turned their heads—it was Mao Xuanzi.
"But you’re not a student in our class," Counselor Song objected.
Mao Xuanzi took the seat where Prince Mao usually sat and said, "From now on, I’m no longer a member of the Legendary Group. I’m a student in your class."
"This—" Counselor Song hesitated.
"Here is the principal’s authorization," Mao Xuanzi handed a document to Counselor Song.
Counselor Song nodded, "Alright, you will be the third. Together with Han Tianyue, our class now has four recommended contestants. For the honor of our class in the Graduation Competition, I expect you four to give it your all!"
"Yeah!" The classroom erupted in cheers.
But Han Tianyue remained puzzled: "Where is the Prince?"
