Chapter Seven: The Principal’s Abilities
“Bury!” The fallen leaves on the ground gathered together like a hand slowly closing, enveloping all the students within. “Go to hell!”
The moment the words fell, before anyone could see their assailant, it felt as though something was squeezing their hearts, making them thud violently—
“Enough!” At that instant, a powerful voice thundered across the distance. The hand-shaped formation dissolved, leaves cascaded to the earth, and at last, the students felt the weight on their hearts lift.
“Headmaster!” The boy who had been hiding at the back stepped forward, dropping to his knees in remorse, not daring to lift his head.
“I care for you all so dearly, and yet you’d dare use my favor to do such things? Go back and face the wall in reflection!” The headmaster appeared out of thin air, so suddenly that no one noticed his approach.
“Headmaster!” The students bowed in greeting.
The headmaster chuckled. “Impressive! You little devils actually managed to defeat one of my most carefully trained students!” He walked up to Han Tianyue, who was gravely wounded. “To survive injuries like these—now that’s a miracle!”
The headmaster placed his hand on Han Tianyue’s chest. It was as if Han Tianyue grasped a thread of life, climbing back from the brink of death. “Ah, that feels wonderful!”
The headmaster smiled warmly.
“Hurry up and thank the headmaster!” Mao Taizi, clutching her chest, gave Han Tianyue a tug.
Han Tianyue quickly expressed his gratitude. “Thank you, Headmaster!”
The headmaster paid him no heed, instead turning to Mao Taizi. “So you’re Mao Taizi, the first girl invited to join the Legendary Team, and the very first to refuse them as well!”
Mao Taizi glanced back at Han Tianyue, who was still standing behind the headmaster, nervous yet a little silly, and couldn’t help but want to laugh. Answering the headmaster’s question, she said, “The Legendary Team already has Xuanzi. My joining wouldn’t matter much now!”
The headmaster offered no response, simply touching her shoulder—her wounds healed instantly. With another wave of his hand, the rest of the students were restored to normal.
“Headmaster, about Boca—” The one who had used the burial technique earlier, Xinzhong, spoke up, seeing the headmaster heal the elementary students, and pleaded on Boca’s behalf.
“Let him remain injured!” the headmaster snapped, his expression darkening.
Xinzhong could only lower his head in silence.
“And the others?” the headmaster asked.
“They’re still gathering Scarlet Drop herbs!” Xinzhong replied promptly.
“Bring Boca along, fetch the others, and return at once!” With that, the headmaster vanished into thin air.
Xinzhong hoisted Boca onto his back and disappeared among the trees without a word.
“Amazing!” Feng Shang, who had kept his head down the whole time, was the first to leap up after they had left. “I want to become someone just like the headmaster!”
“Forget it,” Fang Zhe scoffed.
“What, you don’t think I can?” Feng Shang retorted, unwilling to back down.
“In your next life,” Fang Zhe replied bluntly.
“Just wait and see—this life, I’ll show you what I’m made of!” Feng Shang declared with gusto.
After the Legendary Team departed, gathering herbs at the back of the mountain became a simple matter. Before noon, everyone had collected their five stalks, no one came first, and no one failed.
