After finally escaping from Ascension, Jin Di insisted they return to rescue Princess Qingfeng. Upon hearing this, some opposed, while others agreed. Uncertain what to do, everyone turned their eyes to Han Tianyue.

Mao Xuanzi stepped forward and spoke earnestly, “Han Tianyue, we still have to find my sister!”

Han Tianyue glanced at the elf in the image, then thought of the crown prince. “If it were the crown prince, what would he decide?” Han Tianyue asked in return.

Fang Zhe replied, “If it were up to the crown prince, she would definitely go back to rescue her!”

Han Tianyue looked at Mao Xuanzi.

Mao Xuanzi lowered his head, then finally nodded, “Alright, let’s go save her!”

Thus the decision was made. Feng Shang, who had been standing nearby, stepped forward and called out, “What about me, what about me? Why doesn’t anyone ask if I want to go?”

No one paid him any mind.

Feng Shang looked down at the Thumb-sized Strawman, wearing a flattering expression, about to speak—

“I am the singing strawman, oh strawman; I am the dancing strawman, oh strawman!” The Thumb-sized Strawman sang and danced, brushing past Feng Shang.

In an instant, Feng Shang’s fragile heart was shattered by their indifference. Standing alone at the back, he thought to himself, “I swear I won’t go!”

Fang Zhe turned to glance at Feng Shang and called out, “Hurry up!”

While he was still determined not to go, Fang Zhe’s shout made Feng Shang immediately follow and come to Fang Zhe’s side, saying, “Brother, you’re the only one who cares about me!”

Fang Zhe said nothing.

Everyone followed Jin Di to the barren mountain they had crossed before. Jin Di stopped, looked back at Han Tianyue, Mao Xuanzi, Dona, Water Rhino, Wang Chong, Fang Zhe, the last of them Feng Shang, and the Thumb-sized Strawman. “Is everyone ready?”

“Mao Xuanzi!” At that moment, Mao Xuanzi seemed to hear someone calling him. He stopped and scanned his surroundings.

Jin Di led everyone to the entrance of the Black Mountain Old Demon’s cave behind the barren mountain. One by one, they entered the cave. Han Tianyue, following behind Jin Di, looked back at Mao Xuanzi, who had stopped. He walked over and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Mao Xuanzi hesitated, then said, “It’s nothing.”

Han Tianyue glanced in the direction Mao Xuanzi had been looking. It seemed someone was there, but by now, Jin Di and the others had already entered the cave. Han Tianyue turned and followed.

Feng Shang grumbled behind them about not being allowed to voice his opinion. Mao Xuanzi glared at him, “Do you want the Black Mountain Old Demon to know we’re here?”

Feng Shang quickly covered his mouth.

“I am the singing strawman, oh strawman; I am the dancing strawman, oh strawman!” The Thumb-sized Strawman kept singing. Feng Shang pressed a finger to the strawman’s lips.

The singing finally stopped.

At the front, Jin Di suddenly halted.

Han Tianyue stepped forward and saw before them a vast, bottomless abyss—the entrance to the Black Mountain Old Demon’s cave.

When everyone reached the edge of the abyss, Jin Di leapt in, and the rest followed. Feng Shang took one look at the chasm and instinctively stepped back. The Thumb-sized Strawman kicked out a leg, then jumped onto Feng Shang’s back, and together they fell straight down with the others.

As everyone disappeared from view into the abyss, the dark figures Han Tianyue had glimpsed earlier entered the cave’s entrance. They looked at the chasm and said, “They’re not here!” Then the shadow turned and left.
