Chapter 27: Scorching Fire Palm

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky ignited with clouds ablaze in shades of fire, painting the earth and heavens crimson—just like Mao Xuanzi’s hair, all aflame with red. Mao Xuanzi gazed up at the fiery clouds overhead, a stirring awakening within his heart.
“We can’t afford to linger. Boka and the others are surely pursuing us,” Han Tianyue said, noticing Mao Xuanzi’s slowing steps and striding forward.
Mao Xuanzi lifted his palm, which was dyed scarlet by the glow of the burning clouds.
“We really do need to pick up the pace!” Han Tianyue urged. But Mao Xuanzi kept his eyes fixed on the sky, for at that moment he felt a burning power kindling in his palm. He was reluctant to miss this new sensation—he needed to grow stronger.
“Are you waiting for us?” The first to catch up was An, his figure reminiscent of a raven in flight.
Han Tianyue’s hand swept through the air, launching a blade of ice at An.
But the Raven’s Eye had already discerned Han Tianyue’s intent, and An dodged in a flash.
At that moment, Boka arrived, followed by Demon Serpent, and lastly, Money. The four of them stood before Han Tianyue and his companions.
“Icy World!” Han Tianyue swiftly enveloped everyone in a shield of frost and snow.
Money strode forward with a thunderous shout. With a single “Heavy Strike,” he shattered the Icy World into fragments.

Everyone involuntarily took a step back.
Feng Shang stepped forward, shouting, “Whirling Storm!”
An snorted coldly, “Still trying the same old tricks?” The Raven’s Eye locked onto Feng Shang. “Dance of Ten Thousand Ravens!” Countless ravens swooped toward Feng Shang.
Feng Shang withdrew from the Whirling Storm and collided headlong with the oncoming flock of ravens.
Once the Raven’s Eye fixed on Feng Shang, the frenzied ravens crashed against the storm’s onslaught. Feng Shang pressed with all his might, but the ravens drew ever closer.
Beside him, Fang Zhe hastily plucked his strings to aid Feng Shang.
From atop a giant serpent’s head, Demon Serpent sneered, “It’s about time I took the stage!”
At that moment, Mao Xuanzi let out a roar to the heavens—“Ah!” His cry devoured the fiery clouds until they all but vanished, and his hands blazed with fire—“Scorching Fire Palm!”
The burning prints of his palms struck at Boka and his cohort, and in an instant, the world before them turned into a sea of flames.
Before the onslaught, Boka invoked the Era of Orange and Yellow. But as the fire palms descended, the illusion of that era was consumed by the inferno, leaving Boka coughing blood.
With that single blow, Mao Xuanzi instantly turned the tide of their momentum.

Boka, Money, An, and Demon Serpent dared not make a move.
Having unleashed his palm’s fury, Mao Xuanzi snorted and turned away, with Han Tianyue, Fang Zhe, Feng Shang, and Qing Feng close behind.
Money and An made to give chase, but Boka raised a hand to halt them. “No need to rush. We’ll make plans in due time.” With that, Boka retrieved a pill from the pouch the headmaster had given him and swallowed it.
Mao Xuanzi walked on for a long while, realizing at last that Boka and the others were not following. His strength gave out, and he collapsed onto the ground.
Han Tianyue and Feng Shang rushed to support Mao Xuanzi, one on each side.
Panting, Mao Xuanzi said, “That Scorching Fire Palm is indeed formidable, but for now I can’t fully control it. I overexerted myself today, and now my body is drained!”
The fact that Mao Xuanzi could still speak under these circumstances suggested he was in no serious danger. Still, it would be best to find a place for him to rest. Looking ahead, it seemed there was a mountain villa in the distance. Han Tianyue and Fang Zhe supported Mao Xuanzi as Feng Shang and Qing Feng followed, and together they made their way forward.
