Chapter Thirty: Escape Once More
"I'll make the move myself this time, and I swear I'll capture all of you!" The demon serpent let out a long howl, pointing at Han Tianyue and his companions, the giant python opening its blood-red maw to devour them.
"At last I've found you!" From the storm clouds, those blood-red eyes swept toward the giant python, and right beside it he spotted Princess Qingfeng and the young man who had stolen her heart. "I'm going to kill you all!"
"We're in trouble. The Old Demon of Black Mountain has found us," Fang Zhe said heavily.
Feng Shang, witnessing the scene, turned pale as a ghost and screamed in panic, "It's all over! We're dead for sure!"
"It seems this time we have no choice but to fight to the death!" Han Tianyue and Mao Xuanzi were already bracing themselves for battle.
Boka, seeing the Old Demon of Black Mountain riding clouds and mist toward them, hurriedly stopped the demon serpent, saying, "Hold your hand—for now, let's stand aside and watch what happens."
Feng Shang hid behind Fang Zhe.
Qingfeng closed her eyes, pressing tightly against Feng Shang’s back.
"It’s over, it’s over!" Feng Shang repeated, turning to blame Qingfeng, "It’s all your fault, all your fault! Why did you have to catch the old demon’s eye for no reason? Now we’re being hunted because of you!"
Qingfeng protested with a tearful face, "I never wanted to be favored by that ugly monster! But can I help it if I’m good-looking? There’s nothing wrong with being pretty!"
The Old Demon of Black Mountain was about to descend upon them.
Boka snorted coldly. "How did Mao Xuanzi and the others offend such an old demon? I bet it’s that elven girl with them who stirred up trouble!"
"What should we do?" Jin Qian was unwilling to confront an old demon with such overwhelming power and looked to Boka for guidance.
"We’ll stand aside and watch for now," Boka replied seriously.
An, who stood by in silence, cast a cold glance at Boka, then looked up at the approaching Old Demon of Black Mountain, thinking, "What is Boka planning? Even with all of us, we might not be a match for that old demon!"
The demon serpent looked at the approaching Old Demon of Black Mountain, then at Han Tianyue and his companions, and sneered, "This time, they’re doomed!"
Lightning flickered ever closer through the storm clouds. Because Boka and his group refused to leave, Han Tianyue and his companions couldn’t escape and could only wait in silence for the Old Demon’s arrival.
Just then, Boka shouted, "Mao Xuanzi, run now!"
"What?" Everyone turned to Boka in unison.
Boka sneered and replied, "The principal said to bring you back, not to kill you. If this old demon kills you, how will we explain to the principal? We’ll let you go for now, but one day, we’ll bring you back!"
Mao Xuanzi walked toward Boka, replying coldly, "I won't thank you."
Boka didn’t turn around, but kept his gaze fixed on the storm clouds and lightning above, sneering, "Thank you for not thanking me!"
Han Tianyue and the others followed Mao Xuanzi.
An prepared to make a move.
"What, you want to fight?" Mao Xuanzi glanced at An, continuing, "My old friend."
An sneered, "We’re no longer friends."
"Let them go!" Boka shouted angrily.
An had to step aside, watching Mao Xuanzi and his companions pass by, a trace of resentment hidden in his eyes. At last, he called out after Mao Xuanzi, "Next time we meet, we’ll be enemies!"
Mao Xuanzi replied with a cold smile, "Yes, we’re enemies now."
As Han Tianyue and his group fled, the Old Demon of Black Mountain descended above Boka and his companions, gazing at them with scorn. "Get out of my way!"
Boka pulled a talisman from his bag, snorted, and said, "Mao Xuanzi and his companions belong to us. You’re not allowed to touch them, old demon!"
The talisman shot toward the Old Demon and instantly transformed into a giant net, trapping him.
"You little brats, you’re infuriating!" The talisman was one the principal had given Boka and his companions for emergencies. No matter how powerful the Old Demon was, he couldn't break free immediately. Helpless, he watched Qingfeng follow Feng Shang away once more, endless hatred burning in his eyes.
"I swear I’ll kill you all!" The Old Demon’s furious roar echoed across the sky.
Knowing the talisman could only hold him briefly, Boka turned to An, Jin Qian, and the demon serpent. "Let’s go!"
With a rush of wind, four shadows vanished into the sky.
