Chapter Sixty-Two: Slaying the Monkey
The Lone Wolf had already caught wind of the situation and hurried over. Seeing that it was once again the same group of women, his eyes reddened. Last time, he hadn’t brought enough men and suffered a defeat at their hands—he hadn’t expected to encounter them again so soon.
But for Lone Wolf to become a regiment leader, he was certainly no fool. A fight with Fang Xia’s team at this moment would bring him little benefit. Though this group only numbered four or five hundred, their strength was formidable. Even with a slight numerical advantage, a head-on clash could go either way.
Lone Wolf hesitated—Fang Xia did not. This Monkey had dared to flirt with the young women of his team right in front of him today; tomorrow, he might resort to underhanded tricks. Since animosity had already been established, it was best to strike while Monkey was still only a captain. He had to kill him today. If Lone Wolf dared to turn hostile, Fang Xia would deal with him as well.
Monkey on the opposite side continued to taunt, his mouth spewing obscene words. Suddenly, a strange smile appeared on Fang Xia’s face. Monkey’s expression changed; sensing danger, he immediately tried to burrow deeper into the crowd.
But it was already too late.
A war blade, wielding overwhelming power, came crashing down toward his head. Monkey, terrified, pushed two people beside him in an attempt to block the blow while scrambling further into the throng.
Unfortunately, the attacker was not Bai Xing this time, but Fang Xia. The suddenness of Fang Xia’s teleportation made it even harder to guard against than Bai Xing’s stealth. Monkey was already a step behind; in his panic, he couldn’t muster much resistance.
The blade swept through, sending two men flying; its momentum unbroken, it continued toward Monkey. Sparks flew as Monkey was knocked heavily aside, but no wounds appeared on his body.
Fang Xia frowned—Monkey was wearing battle armor.
Seeing those around him react, raising their weapons, Fang Xia unhesitatingly activated his second teleportation. Monkey thought he had escaped death, but Fang Xia’s figure appeared at his side once again.
“No…”
Monkey’s pupils dilated in terror as the blade sliced cleanly across his throat.
Fang Xia stood with his blade held high, surrounded by the Lone Wolf regiment, yet not a single person dared approach. Fang Xia’s uncanny teleportation unsettled them deeply.
“If any of you move, you die.”
Fang Xia’s murderous gaze locked directly onto Lone Wolf. Though they were separated by more than ten meters, cold sweat broke out on Lone Wolf’s back.
Last time, Lone Wolf had been caught off guard by Bai Xing’s silent approach and blamed himself for his carelessness. This time, he was already vigilant, but Fang Xia had vanished right before his eyes, only to reappear in the crowd and kill one of his men.
He knew that subordinate well—competent in strength, though lacking in character.
Hundreds of Lone Wolf’s men encircled Fang Xia. With a single word from their leader, they would attack without hesitation. But could they really kill him? How did he manage that ghostly teleportation?
Lone Wolf was uncertain.
In contrast, Fang Xia remained composed. His ability did have its limits—he could only use it one more time today—but he was confident he could escape unscathed.
If it were someone else, whether Chen Gang of Dawn City or Bai Yi of the Bloodclad Regiment, Fang Xia would never dare act so boldly.
Chen Gang possessed great resolve, which was why he was the first to build a city from a regiment.
Bai Yi of the Bloodclad Regiment was a madman. Despite his usual scholarly demeanor—always polite and refined—he was, at heart, utterly unhinged. In the previous life, Lone Wolf had provoked him; Bai Yi had single-handedly stormed the Lone Wolf headquarters, slaughtered hundreds of men, and left unscathed.
Though Lone Wolf’s regiment was one of the four major factions, his men were a mixed lot, and Lone Wolf himself was indecisive.
That was why Fang Xia dared to press him.
After threatening Lone Wolf, Fang Xia walked back toward his own team, completely unguarded, unconcerned by the hundreds of blades and men surrounding him.
He walked slowly, and those encircling him parted step by step, clearing a path for him. No one wanted to die needlessly—since their leader hadn’t spoken, why risk their lives?
Passing through the Lone Wolf regiment meant he had to walk by Lone Wolf himself. Fang Xia didn’t alter his course, striding straight ahead.
Everyone at Lone Wolf’s side was tense, gripping their weapons tightly, eyes fixed on Fang Xia, fearful he might suddenly lash out.
Fang Xia ignored everyone else, his gaze locked solely on Lone Wolf.
When the two were barely five meters apart, Lone Wolf finally moved—he stepped aside.
Perhaps it was imagination, but in that instant, those nearby seemed to collectively breathe a sigh of relief.
After surviving so long in the apocalypse, those who remained weren’t all cowards. Yet Fang Xia terrified them more.
He was ruthless, fearless, and incredibly skilled.
How could anyone contend with that? If you weren’t afraid to die, he would truly kill you.
Seeing Fang Xia return safely, the young women erupted in cheers. In contrast, the Lone Wolf regiment hung their heads, unable to face them.
Hundreds of men, intimidated by one man and a group of women—not just once, but twice—this would forever be the Lone Wolf regiment’s shame.
Lone Wolf’s face flushed red, yet he still dared not challenge Fang Xia.
“Not leaving? Still dissatisfied?”
Fang Xia had no time to waste. If the other two factions arrived, there would be fewer supply crates to seize.
“Commander Fang, you’re impressive. We’ll see you again soon.”
Though they were cowed, Lone Wolf still had to utter some harsh words. He told himself there was a good excuse—today was for snatching supply crates, not starting a war. There would be plenty of opportunities later.
“If you’re dissatisfied, then fight—so much nonsense.”
The young women cooperated perfectly, taking a step forward, clearly ready to battle at the slightest provocation.
“We’re leaving.”
In the end, Lone Wolf retreated in disgrace.
“Brother Fang, we…”
Before Liu Rui could finish, Fang Xia interrupted her.
“Let’s talk when we get back. I know what I’m doing. For now, the supply crates are our priority.”
Buoyed by victory, the hundreds of young women continued to sweep through the supply crates in the northern city.
The scene had been witnessed by many, and none dared challenge Fang Xia’s team for the supplies, choosing instead to move elsewhere.
Fang Xia took no further part in the proceedings. He had already instructed Liu Rui to sweep for only half an hour.
After half an hour, the other two major factions would arrive. Fang Xia had already gained a substantial advantage; it would be unreasonable to monopolize everything.
He had no desire to antagonize the other two factions just yet.
As for the Lone Wolf regiment, Fang Xia didn’t even consider them a threat.
Back on the second floor, the twin sisters approached.
“Run the bath.”
